2024/25, Stage 2 Gryffindor V Ravenclaw: Match 8

Clearly Edwin's great aim had petrified the other team, two of their members opting to make no real move against the Gryffindors. Any confidence that had momentarily been shook by his earlier mishaps had returned just as quickly as it had been lost, and so Edwin flicked his wand towards baldy, a grin briefly appearing on his face after her wand was ripped from her grasp.
However, as he had already learnt, he could not afford to ride on his successes in a duel, as there was a very real chance he'd have another mishap if he wasn't focused.

Ula felt like absolute shit, but seeing her spell that was originally directed at the Ravenclaw—who looked disturbingly similar to the main character from the horror movie Smile—hit one of the dazed ones? That was satisfying. A small, petty win in the middle of all the bullshit. It made her face split into a smirk.

"At this point, I'm not dueling—you lot are just volunteering as tributes," she spoke, twirling her wand between her fingers. It didn't take long for her victory to be cut short as she felt her nose leaking once again. She wiped at her face with the sleeve of her robe, grimacing at the dampness before shaking it off. She'd be burning it after, no question.

Silva was on fire. She was so shocked by this development that she forgot to move, until she realized that she'd been put on fire again. This time the flames were even higher. She felt tears welling up in her eyes. This duelling stuff hurt, a lot. She only shook herself out of her daze when she heard Prat yelling at her to snap out of it. She also heard one of the Gryfindors saying something about them volunteering as tributes. She turned and glared at the older girl. It wasn't her fault she'd been hit by incendio 3 times in a row. She felt proud of herself for still being standing. Well, that's what she was telling herself anyways.

12:30 on Saturday 8th February, 2025...

The next round came as a surprise to Prat, while he had anticipated the Lions to go on full blast and attempt to finish the raven, he hadn't expected the ravens to back down either. Unlike his expectations however, Avis marlong from the ravens and Ula from lions both decided to not cast spells at all.

Unfortunately for Ula, no one from the ravens thought of targeting her again. Finally some relief for the poor girl who was still dealing with snot and whatnot. If not physical this duel was surely a mental struggle for her. Yolanda on the other side kept tryin to find her wand, having no chance to get back into the game after blacking out in the previous round. With a total of three spells only being thrown out, Prat was getting bored of this. No knockouts yet, no fainting, this was getting plain.

His words soon caught up to him as Edwin Westbridge's flipendo sent silva melinora flying back. "ouch" he thought to himself as the first year was thrown back. She looked worse for wear and as Prat waited for her to get up, she did not. At the same time both meiyu and silva managed to miss their marks, adding another one to their tally of missed spells.

"HALT !!" Prat shouted as Silva was escorted off the piste since her fainting.

She sniffled, still swiping at her nose, half-watching the duel unfold while mentally checking out. She was getting more and more exhausted each round—making her feel like an old fart who couldn't wait to crash into his armchair the second he got home. And to her surprise the guy on her team actually did some damage for once, sending one of them flying. "Well, finally," she muttered, watching the first year drop like a sack of flour.

"Rest in pieces," she smirked to herself, before flicking some of the lingering mucus off her sleeve. "One down. Who's next?"

Edwin rode from success to success, his earlier misfortune and aiming mishaps looking to be a distant memory now. When Yolanda's wand had been ripped from her grasp, Edwin had quickly flicked his wand over in the direction of Silva, uttering the incantation for the knock back jinx. He watched with a small grin as she was flung back, marking the first knockout of the duel.

As she was dragged from the piste, Edwin's gaze darted between the two remaining Ravenclaws, idly turning his wand over in his hand, waiting for action to be resumed.

Growing further agitated at another failed spell accredited to Avis swiftly dodging her hit, Meiyu furrowed her brows, raising her palms to gently message her temples as a method to ease her growing irritation. Though, it was to no avail. The ache merely grew larger due to her own frustrations, paired with the desire to inflict some type of damage and finally bring the match to a conclusion.

Lowering her hands and readying herself once more, she narrowed her gaze, diverting between the two remaining ravens, partially eased by the sight of the Asian raven being carried away.
