Final Task Avis, Yolanda, Silva The Wizarding Schools Potions Championship

Avis frowned. This was going interestingly as well as terribly. Her potioned seemed to work, and she enjoyed the sight of the one of the redcaps who had been attacking her turning and attacking the other redcap, but she was still in pain and really not excited for this.

Turning her attention to the other girls, she breathed a sigh of relief as Yolanda's potion also managed to thankfully prevent the redcaps from attacking her. The poor girl also seemed worse for wear, but at least she was still standing. That had to be a good thing. Right? Silva, unfortunately, hadn't managed to grab any the apples, but also managed to avoid a redcap attacking her.

So what now?

Avis cast a glance at the redcaps in front of her, before casting her gaze towards the apples. Apples, she decided, were more important than the chance that the redcaps attack her again. Pain was temporary, winning was forever. She chucked her dizziness potion at the redcaps with the apples, before thinking again. She had not much trust in her casting abilities, but it seemed a waste to sit here and doing nothing. Frowning, she pointed her wand at the redcap with the apples. Wingardium Leviosa.

Silva was a bit disappointed. That whole dramatic moment earlier had come to nothing. Avis had thrown her potion and made one redcap attack another. Yolanda had also thrown a potion but hadn't caused much to happen. Both of them had also cast spells which had failed. Worst of all, she hadn't succeeded in hitting the redcaps with the potion or grabbing the apples. At least she'd managed to dodge the redcap trying to attack her.

She sighed and got ready to try again. Avis had thrown her other potion and was casting another spell to help back her up. She took a deep breath. I can do this. I have to do this. I will do this. She closed her eyes and focused herself. This would be her last chance to grab those apples, or they would lose.

She opened her eyes and looked at the redcaps. She grabbed her second potion and threw. She couldn't wait to see if her aim came true. She sprinted forward towards the redcaps. Her arms outstretched. Her face hopeful and terrified at the same time. She had to win this for her team. She hoped Yolanda was also still fighting behind her to win this, but if not she would still try as hard as she could.

Tension was running high in the audience, excited mumbling and shouting ringing through the air as those on the stands watched what was happening below. Time was running short - the contestants would have to hurry. Méabh smiled a quick smile at the excitement in the air, then directed her attention back to the students down in the forest.

They were certainly keeping the suspense high - some potions hit, some missed, but they had managed to antagonise every single present Red Cap. Furthermore, time was running low (as were their hitpoints), and they had yet to grab the apples. Luckily, they still had some tricks up their sleeves - or rather, potions in their pockets.

Yolanda missed the deadline.

Murmurs and shouting increased in intensity - this was definitely one of the more nerve-wracking groups they'd seen. It looked like the girls might just be able to turn this around.

"An interesting distraction tactic," Méabh mused. "But this Red Cap appears to have singular focus." Yet, the apples were free to take, and Silva made good use of the opportunity, snatching the apple basket and starting her retreat. But then... There were still six Red Caps around, and none too pleased with the events.

Suddenly, things happened very quickly. One moment, the girls were retreating, and it looked like they might just make it, the gate mere moments away. The next, the Red Caps were upon them.

Even though two of them attacked their companions, clearly affected by the Confusing Concoction they had been doused with, the other four were not so easily distracted. One hit, proved more than Avis could still take - she had been looking like she was on the brink of collapse even before this. Two other Red Caps landed solid hits on Silva, and she dodged a third attack before she made it out the gate.

Méabh was on her feet and on the way down to the field in moments. "Immobulus!" she called, wand in hand, and froze the Red Caps in their movements. "Healers, get Miss Marlong out of there and under your care. And take Miss Yates and Miss Melinora with you, while you're at it." She'd barely wait for her instructions to be followed, keeping an eye on Avis as she was carried to the medic tent, but spared a reassuring smile for Silva and Yolanda. "Don't worry, they'll get her back on her feet in no time. You were cutting it a bit close in there, huh? But you managed it. Congratulations on completing your task."
