After a busy morning in which all teams had the opportunity to brew their best potions, using all their knowledge and best of skills, professors Melisande Lennox and @Méabh Regan would be waiting for the brave and daring contestants at the Quidditch Stadium. Alongside them was the prestigious and international panel of judges, constituted by Hogwarts' Hjørdis Jensen and Dusana Sabo, Célestine de la Croix-Valmer from Beauxbatons, Évodie Ndoto Masudi of Uagadou and Hugo da Silva[NPC] former Castelobruxo's potions professor and a renown author.

It was mid-autumn and the Scottish highlands would welcome them with gray skies and a very unpleasant cold wind. Meli looked at the heavy clouds forming a dense blanket that threatened to dissolve into raindrops and hoped that wouldn't happen for a while longer. Behind her, the representatives of the various schools participating in the tournament were sitting comfortably, they would be the ones who would evaluate the performance of all the teams and they would be the ones who would decide the winner in the end. Who among them would deserve to walk out of the stadium with a shiny new golden cauldron and bring honor and prestige to their names? Melisande knew that she flinched a little when she saw some of the potions being prepared...now she only could hope for the best!

The Quidditch Stadium was completely renovated and prepared to receive the event. In it, three different sections could be found, each prepared for the challenges corresponding to each age group.
Second Section:
There in the second third of the Stadium was a clearing, where in the centre was a cozy wooden cabin with a glass roof that offered spectators visibility into the humble building. It was a small hut, it only took up space for one internal room. The cabin was surrounded by a group of trees, but the vegetation was not as dense as it looked like in the first third of the stadium.

Once inside the cabin, those who would cross the threshold would find themselves surrounded by a dark, cold space, provided by by the shade of the surrounding vegetation. The cabin was dimly lit, the only sources of light were three round fireplaces that were almost out and the embers were glowing weakly. The students knew what they would be looking for inside the cabin, so Melisande hoped that they would know what they should be looking for coming from the dying embers. The furthest corners of the hut were silent. For now... But perhaps that was where the brave participants could find what they were looking for? Once the adventurous students entered the inviting clearing their mission would prove to be quite difficult, of course! To achieve prestige the challenges could not be easy to overcome!

Melisande and Méabh were standing together, making themselves noticed among the seated spectators, as they waited for all the competition participants to arrive at the place where the last part of the Potions Championship would be held. Once all the contestants were present, Meli, with her voice amplified by the Sonorus spell, would finally address everyone present, "Dear students and honorer guests, welcome to the third and final part of the Potions Championship. As you can see, in front of you is not the usual sight that we are used to finding inside our Quidditch Stadium. The organisation of this event took liberties and transformed it into a more suitable setting for this contest.”

“Inside that small wooden cabin,” Meli continued pointing with her hand and outstretched arm towards the clearing in the middle of the Stadium, “There are three or two Ashwinders waiting for giving you a warm welcome to theirs nests. Your goal, is to steal two or three ashwinder eggs without setting the whole place on fire. You’ll need to use all your courage and wits to succeed in this dangerous mission."

"Completing your task should be your main goal, but let me remind you that you’ll lose points if you get yourself harmed or any of the Ashwinders. I hope you’ve done your best and brewed the most outstanding potions!” She merrily ended saying, giving the crowd one of her brightest smiles. It certainly would be entertaining!

“So when you are ready…” She started again, looking at the participating students with an encouraging nod and smile, “Remember you will only have one hour to finish this challenge, when the time is over so it is your opportunity to succeed. Time starts as soon as you enter your challenge field. In your case, as soon as you cross the gate in the fence surrounding the clearing. Time will stop counting when you return."

"Pay attention to your surroundings, remember everything you have learned so far, trust your companions and I’m sure you’ll be victorious! Good luck!”
Then she would give them a signal, letting them know that they were free to enter the forest and start their challenge.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
THIRD CHALLENGE FOR 3RD AND 4TH YEAR

- Retrieve Ashwinder eggs from a wooden cabin. Be careful - the parents are still around.

- The groups will be judged and rated by a prestigious panel of international wizards, by the following criteria:
1. Quality of the potions
2. Successful completion of the task
3. How fast they finished the task
4. Injuries and other harm to the competitors
5. Injuries and other harm to the beasts
jjjj
- The tasks will be performed in the same groups that brewed the potions in the first and second part. Each member of the group will have one dose of each of the two potions they brewed to use - but be careful, their effect will depend on the success of the brewing stage, and a bad brew might harm more than help!
(This potion is IC only and only usable for this thread - there is no potion item associated with this.)

- The event has a total of three moderated rounds, after which the time is up! Your characters can perform one moderated action per round (incl. casting spells - think adventure threads, balls, sports etc.). Using a potion as a bonus action (can be performed additionally to the moderated action). You can use both potions in the same round, in this case one potion counts as the first moderated action and the second as a bonus action. Will your strategy lead to victory?

- Moderations take place roughly weekly. The deadline for posting is six days (144 hours) after the moderation is posted. The word requirement is 200 words per post.

- The top team of each age group is crowned victor and earns eternal glory for their schools. And of course, a magnificent golden Cauldron!

- OOC reward: One dose of a potion depending on your age group for every participant who has posted in every moderation round:
1-2nd Year: Fire Breathing Potion
3-4th Year: Invisibility Potion
5-7th Year: Strengthening Solution

Avery bounced from one foot to the other as he shuffled in place to warm up. It was chilly, but the wnthusiastic and eager energy that burned within him kept him warm. It was finally the day of the third challenge, and he knew he was in it to win it for his team. "All warmed up and ready to go!" he declared with a last stretch to make sure his body was ready and pumped for the challenge. "I'll be snatching up those eggs like quaffles in no time," he pronounced proudly. He was a competent athlete and he knew it -- he and his team made sure he would be playing to his strengths today.

They had the hatchings of a plan, but he knew they had to be flexible and adapt quickly to whatever events they encountered inside. With three broom athletes and two captains on their team today, he knew they would have resilience to complete their task, or at least have a lot of fun doing so. Wasn't this challenge like playing a sport? The familiar feeling of wanting to win, but also wanting to have fun in the face of adventure washed over him. "Let's have a good game, guys!" He wished them luck, and began.

Action: Drinking Blackfire Potion as a free action and entering cabin to snatch an egg.

Vale folded her arms together, almost unfazed by the cold surrounding her. She was used to colder, and wetter conditions. Nothing that would help start fires. Unfortunate to an Ashwood.

Vale made a smile at Avery's gloves. Something about them made her feel a sense of endearment to Avery's passion to Quidditch. A deadly sport, much the same as broom racing. Actually, how couldn't she feel joy in such? "Quidditch gloves? I don't know if those are inflammable." Well, Vale shall see. It wasn't like she was against seeing her boyfriend being set on fire.

She listened to the announcement on how to handle the cabin.

Vale almost shrugged it off, her home was made with stone for a reason. "Let's just get in there, as quietly as possible and then grab those eggs. I have a feeling we won't hear the end of it if we just let the place go out in brilliant flames." Vale cracked her arms, as if she was prepared for war.

"My father will be so proud to see another gold cauldron to collect dust in our storage room. Hard to keep the dust in the house these days. Come on, before the snakes burn away in their sleep." Without another word, Vale moved gently into the cabin. She wasn't sure how well it was going to go regardless. Seems like everything likes to run away whenever she was in the area. She'd have to scratch her head if even ashwinder eggs grew legs and began running away from her too.

Round: 1
The icy wind continued to blow around the stadium, unwilling to show its mercy to all the excited participants and spectators. Meli suppressed a shiver as a delicate thread of cold air dared to penetrate the fabric of her scarf. With her bright sapphire eyes, she scanned the stadium field, not wanting to miss anything that was happening, both for her own amusement and entertainment, but also so that she could act quickly if something was going in the wrong direction. There ere too many variables that could make that competition turn to the wrong way.

It was interesting to see how her students thought in such different and creative strategies to overcome their challenges. Avery and Vale would start by taking their Backfire Potion, but instead of feeling a pleasant chill spreading across their bodies, like a refreshing layer that would protect them against the heat of the flames, their entire body slightly twitched thanks to the tickling sensation that would catch them off guard for a moment.
(The Black Fire Potion was a failure, it is your choice whether your character will understand this from the effects of taking it or not!)
Setting Rolls:
50% chances that one of the Ashwinder eggs will start catch fire [11-20]:
d20=11 caught fire
d20=5
d20=10
Fire started to spread around one of the eggs.
Spot ashy trails of Ashwinder (there are 6 of them) - WDC:10
Avery:
d20(16)+7=23 / d20(5)+7=12 / d20(2)+7=9 / d20(1)+7=8 / d20(6)+7=13 / d20(11)+7=18
He saw four ashy trails coming from the circular fireplaces.
Vale:
d20(10)+10=20 / d20(12)+10=22 / d20(14)+10=24 / d20(16)+10=26 / d20(18)+10=28 / d20(9)+10=19
Vale found all six ashy trails from the six ashwinders hiding inside the cabin.
Spot one or both eggs (there are 3 eggs) - WDC:20
Avery:
d20(1)+7=8 / d20(7)+7=14 / d20(10)+7=17
He saw non of the three eggs.
Vale:
d20(4)+10=14 / d20(17)+10=27 / d20(9)+10=19
Vale saw one of the eggs.
There was a spark in the corner as soon as the two competitors entered the wooden hut. One of the eggs began to spread fire around it, and the fire would continue to unfurl rapidly, as the cabin was made of very flammable materials, unless one of them decided to act quickly and put it out in time.

Looking at the dusty floor, Avery would spot four trails of ashes coming from the dying embers at the fireplaces, while Vale would be able to spot all six of them. The trails might point the right way to where the ashwinders hid in the shadows of the cabin. Vale, would notice one of the eggs in its nest, guarded by its parent. Perhaps the egg that caught fire!
Summary:
- the Black Fire potions were a failure so non of them is immune to fire;
- Avery saw 4 trails of ashes;
- Vale saw the six trails of ashes;
- Avery didn’t saw any of the eggs;
- Vale found one egg;
- There’s one egg already catching things on fire!

His body twitched involuntarily as he chugged the Blackfire Potion, and a tickling sensation sent a little "whoohoohooo" shiver down the length of his body. "The potion's working, isn't it!" he commented to Vale, glad that the thing wasn't a dud.

He rushed into the cabin, and scanned the ground for ashwinders. "Four, right?" Well, that's all he could see, anyway, likely in his blinding excitement, and his lack of knowledge of ashwinders in general. Even though he could see well in the dark with his Blindvision, he wasn't particularly sure what ashwinders in cabins would look like.

He squinted inside the cabin for eggs. "What! There are no eggs in here!" he announced, baffled. Why would their professors send them into cabins with no bounty? "What kind of fake task is this!" he huffed, disappointed that Professor Lennox had duped them into thinking they would be finding hot eggs in here. He stomped around, trying to see if he could find any eggs at all. Maybe these four ashwinders were just infertile, or something.

He did sound a little loud in his stomping. Did June not cast a spell on him to make him quieter? Maybe he should chug an Invisibility Potion now.

One of the eggs started to catch on fire -- yikes! He pointed his wand at the fire to extinguish it.

Action: Drinking Invisibility Potion as a free action and casting Extinguo on the fire.

Vale peeked around the cabin as Avery stomped around in a rather violent manner. "Did you see June at all today? Starting to think she left us to die. Admirable work, really!" She made a move to scratch her head, moving her eyes sharply only to spot an egg...already ensnaring the cabin in a blooming fire.

Uh oh.

"Uh...found one?" Vale pointed out, careful to move around the ashwinder trails she spotted. "Wingardium Leviosa." Vale came up with an idea on carefully removing the egg from the ground, waving her wand out in doing so. "Let's try getting anymore eggs out of here in the mean time. I feel like we got a good bit of ashwinders to deal with than figured." Vale kept her eyes on the trails, almost intrigued by the idea of letting the cabin erupt in flames instead. But she had a feeling her broom racing fellow captain, and also prefect, would be right around the corner...if she really didn't leave Avery and Vale to burn. Admiring, cunning work, if true.

"Hey uh...let's just try to get out of here before time runs out." Vale whispered faintly. Avery's mad stomping didn't seem to be helping their situation whatsoever. But still, how could she ever find frustration with Avery? If worst come to worst, she could always poison his drink in their marry age and collect widow payment. Isn't that what muggles do?

Round: 2
Melisande couldn't see what was happening to Vale, but the girl seemed to be facing some troubles. Would it be all the emotion of the moment? Avery was the one who took the initiative this time, casting a perfect extinguishing spell towards the starting fire. The flames soon went out, leaving the cabin even darker, with some smoke spreading into the air, which made vision and breathing even more difficult.

But even so, the History of Magic professor still thought it was possible for this team to finish their task with at least one of the eggs, since it would no longer catch fire. But there was still one of them left to control, it would be Vale this time, who would be able to grab it and end the challenge?
Avery
Cast extinguo [WDC: 8]:
d20(6)+7=13 Success
- The egg is no longer catching fire
Setting Rolls:
50% chances the other egg will catch fire [11-20]:
d20=7
- that egg is still not on fire
Avery
Spot the other two ash trails? [WDC:10]:
d20(13)+7=20
d20(11)+7=18
- He saw the other two trails
Spot the eggs? [WDC: 20]
d20(6)+7=13
d20(5)+7=12
- saw non of the eggs
Summary:
- there's no egg on fire. Avery was able to extinguish the one starting and the second egg didn't caught fire.
- Avery sees now the six ash trails.
- Avery gets 30 damage from the smoke.
