Stone Skipping Competition Finished

As the stone swiftly left River’s hand, she watched it skip, one... two... three... four... five... six... times. A quick smile flashed by her thin lips, as she saw the rock disapear beneath the now disturbed surface of the lake. Six jumps? She was actually pretty excited about the journey of the stone, for she had no question, beat her old score of two skips.
She turned to see how the others were doing, watching one stone skip out on the dark water she counted, 22 skips?! That one must have been a stone-skipping champion of some sort, if that was even a thing.
River was going to pretend like she wasn’t impressed by the success of the others, for she was definitely very impressed. She never liked comparing herself to others. It was a waste of time anyway.

River’s blue and grey eyes once more looked down to the ground, scanning it thouroughly for an appropriate stone for the task at hand. Perhaps not one that was too similar to the previous one, as it didn’t make the greatest skips in the world.
Looking for a smooth, correctly sized stone, at least from what River thought would be good, as she really didn’t have a clue how to skip stones well.
When her eyes finally spotted one that looked fit for the throw, she picked it up, positioned herself for another throw, and as swiftly as her thin arm could manage, sent the stone out onto the water’s glistening surface.

The Second Round

In the second round of throwing, @Santario Martin was the first one to act. She had picked another average quality -not that anyone had taken any rocks much better than that this time- and threw it. The rock skipped six times before losing its momentum and fell slowly to the bottom of the lake. Her stone whizzed by pretty close to the target, but alas, she did not get a point for that.

@Serena Towers tried to scrutinize the rocks on the edge of the lake, but she could not find an excellent quality rock. So, she threw the best one she could find. It skipped five times. The stone's trajectory was right on its way towards the shining target. But the flat rock plunged to the lake without ever reaching it.

And then, there was @Tatiana Crane. Just like everybody else, she only managed to find an average quality rock before throwing it to the vast and shimmering lake. Her stone skipped ten times before falling into the dark abyss that was the Great Lake. Not before passing the hovering target right in the middle, though! Five extra points for that, Ms. Crane! Good job! She was taking the lead. For now.

To wrap it up, one @River Dewlight was also going to throw her stone. She sure took her time choosing her stone. Unfortunately, she also chose an average quality rock. Unlike the others, though, the young eagle skipped her stone unbelievably far. It hopped on top of the lake 22 times before stopping. The judges almost thought that it would never stop. It did not manage to pass the delicious target on the lake. But then again, it was impressive enough already.

There will be more one more round. Any of you can post anytime. No posting order. But all of you will only have 96 hours time to post, starting from the time of this post, do not wait for others. Fail to do that and you will be considered as skipping the round. Pun intended.

Watching her stone skip along, her eyes grew steadily wider as the rock blew River’s expectations out of the country. She had counted 22, though, that must have been a miscalculation, right? Or perhaps not, perhaps she was just simply lucky this round. Though, her luck might not last, as she knew there was another throw ahead, and she knew it probably would not be as good as the previous one.

She walked around a little, keeping her sight on the different stones below her feet. The perfect stone, that was what she wanted to find. Though, that didn’t necessarily seem to be the easiest task.
When she found a stone that seemed okay, she carefully picked it up, weighed it in her hand for a second. And sent it out, watching it closely.

The Third Round

A couple hours had passed since the start of the competition. The sun kept rising and rising. And now was almost directly on top of everyone, signalling that they had to wrap up the game quickly. @Serena Towers was the first one to throw in this last round. She had picked another excellent quality rock. Two out of three? She certainly had good perception. Her rock bounced on top of the lake seven times, missing the glowing target and plunging under the surface.

Next up, was @River Dewlight. The young girl picked an average quality rock and threw it to the Great Lake. Her rock missed the target, but went really far. It skipped 22 friggin' times before going under. She was now currently in the lead and it was a pretty hard number to beat. But she still had to wait for the others. There was nothing else she could do now. Except maybe cheating. Or praying. That later one would be better.

@Santario Martin took her time scrutinizing the rocks. And lo and behold! She indeed found an excellent quality rock! The young snake skipped the rock through the water surface and it quickly moved through the lake. The stone skimmed 18 times before slowly moving towards the bottom of the deep lake. It missed the floating target and the girl had to accept ending up with 46 points.

The last contestants out of the twenty students participating was @Tatiana Crane. She had a real shot to be the winner of the competition. Fifteen skips was the number to beat River, her own housemate, a fellow eagle. She picked a smooth, flat rock. But it was completely ordinary and it would not help or hinder her. Apparently, she did not need more help. Even without going through the target, her thrown stone passed the 15 skips benchmark and skipped 3 more times before stopping. She was now 4 points ahead then the lead. And there was no one left to beat her.

Tatiana Crane was the winner of the competition!!!
