Lost And Found
Rachel’s words floated in the air, pieces of thought that Syrah half-listened to, half-let drift past.
“Puzzles are fine,” she said simply, her voice calm, almost bored.“ “But I like the kind where something breaks. You know, figuring out what went wrong.” There was a glint of something sharp in her eyes, but it was gone before it could be understood.
The staircase felt endless. She didn’t hurry, didn’t slow down either. Her gaze flicked briefly to Rachel’s face, noticing the shift in her expression, the shadow of something like melancholy. But Syrah didn’t ask. If Rachel wanted to talk, she would. If not, it wasn’t Syrah’s problem.
When they reached the ground floor, she glanced at the weathered sign, the sign that spelled out “Library.” Its letters barely clinging to the wood. She didn’t react much to Rachel’s change in tone, nor to the brief silence that had settled between them. She liked silences, they were honest. Words, she found, often got in the way of things.
“Finally,” she muttered, more to herself than Rachel. “Thought this staircase was never gonna end.” There was no real annoyance in her tone. She moved toward the library door, barely waiting to see if Rachel was following.

Lost And Found
Rachel followed at a reasonably distance; seeming to recover from whatever sadness or distress that washed over her, a look of astonshment filling her eyes. As she walked in the smell of old paper and leather wofted into the doorway as she opened the door. Books as far as the eye could see, bookshelves that rose up near to the roof, stretching far into the distance. A maze of more bookshelves littered the pathway in; with a few signs detailing the shelves occupants.
Rachel could hardly contain the bubbles of excitement as she saw how big the library was; it looked tiny from the outside, but the inside felt like a football feild. She wasnt sure where to begin or if there was an end, she looked over at Syrah for a moment, giving a quick smile as she started her descent into the maze. She scanned for a while, mostly history or detailing one intrest after another. "Quick tips for potion making,", "Best ways to grow a magical garden", books that while sounded interesting, well..mostly.. She wasnt really too intrested in.
Her hand brushed against a few of the other books, the old leathery backing feeling new on her palm. This one didnt seem to have a title, but it did have a illistration of a unicorn; so she kept it to check out after picking a few more books.
The place was a lot less annoying then her old school library which was filled with crappy retellings of older stories not to mention it was always full of the rudest people on the planet; her schools detention being held in the library. She used to have to walk beside a huge table of kids who were always whispering and looking at her.
She walked down another alley, dust settling on the top of some of the books; likely untouched for decades. Other books look worn and well used. She managed to find a few more books on mythical creatures just from the first scan through of the library, before remembering she had come here with someone.
She wandered a bit before going to find Syrah again, trying to stay realitively quiet, though no one else was currently there besides the Librarian. Once she had caught up with her again, she whispered a soft
"Hey, sorry I kinda got sidetracked looking for some books. I found a few that look pretty cool. Did you find anything?" She asked keeping her voice low.
