A Drifting Mind Closed

Serena walked into the ballroom, clearly amazed at how big it was, and that's where her mind started to drift into her imagination. She imagined what it would look like set up for a dance or something: the tables around the room, with a big space in the middle for dancing, and the stage with the band on it. She kept imagining as her feet seemed to drag her into the center of the room, completely oblivious to it she kept imagining, thinking to herself, "What songs do they play here?"

A song suddenly popped in Serena's head, making her sway her body side to side as she started to hum the tune to it. Suddenly she started to take steps in a dancing way around the center of the room, starting to sing the song, "Here I am where no one found the way in, brick and stone, this place in me. The cold has taught to close my heart or suffer, but lost at home is strange to me. And I feel, so alone...and I need someone, are you out there? If you hear me, listen close I'm sorry...I never meant to lock you out."

Serena's feet began to move her around faster and she swayed her body more, starting to spin around almost as if she were wearing a dress that twirled around as she did, singing more of the song, "I hear your voice calling, but how could you love me now? Yeah...And I'd rip my world down to follow the sound, could you love me now? Are you out there?" Her feet even began to take turns lifting off the ground as she spun around and swayed her body, but if anyone watched her it would be clear to them she didn't actually know how to dance.

"We are not the wasted ones, the lovely thrown away where no one sees. We are the loaded guns that tremble, we are not the hurt that we see. Though we feel..so alone. We'll never be so alone, are you out there?" Serena sang, as her head started to sway with her body, her arms moving up and down around all around as she was clearly losing herself into the song as she started to sing the next part loudly, "I hear your voice calling but how could you love me now?! Yeah...and I'd rip my world down to follow the sound, could you love me now?! Are you out there?!...Could you love me now?! Are you out there?!"

Marcus, making his way from the boy's lavatory, began hearing singing coming from the ballroom 'Huh..wondering who got lost up here?' he thought to himself making his way closer to the ballroom then peeking inside once he gets there.

Once he peeks inside he spots a first year or what he assumes to be a first year , singing and dancing probably within her own little world, stepping into the room and leaning against the wall he watches her until she finishes her routine, clapping with a smile on his face "bravo, bravo..nicely done if I may say so myself" he said loudly to get her attention "Though I am curious why you are up here." he said with a grin on his face slightly chuckling as he watches her reaction.

"If I may introduce myself, my name is Marcus De Wynter, Newly named Lord of House De Wynter." he bows politely to her as he introduces himself "May I know the name of the young lady?" He asked curious of this girl who got lost it seems watching her reaction closely to see if she is a Pureblood, Half Blood or Muggleborn by her reaction, "Do you need help in finding your way?"

Serena screeches a little as she looks like she jumped out of her skin, almost falling down when she heard a boys voice talking loudly as he claps, her face instantly turning bright red. "Crap..crap..crap..crap..why did you let yourself drift again Serena...you were suppose to be paying attention.." She thought to herself before she stammered to answer what he said, saying, "I-I had g-gotten a little l-lost..." Marcus could tell she was clearly embarrassed to be caught in the ballroom singing and dancing, most likely from not having much interaction with other people. She bent down and started to wipe her pants with her hands, almost as if trying to find something to do so she wouldn't have to look in him the eyes.

"Well he's quite the gentleman." Serena thought to herself before she looked up, answered his question, saying, "I'm Serena Davies. Hufflepuff." It was clear to Marcus that she wasn't use to this kind of interaction, so it was most likely that she was just a Muggleborn from a less formalized house. She then nodded a little to his next question, saying, "Y-yeah I kinda get lost a lot..I'm first year so I'm a little new around here." She was still blushing from being seen, but it seemed to be slowly subsiding.

Marcus covered his mouth to keep from laughing seeing her reaction to getting caught, listening to her introduce himself he nods assuming shes a muggleborn "Do you need help finding your way to the kitchens?" he asked seeing as how the kitchens are close by Hufflepuffs dorm.

"It would be wise to get a map from one of your prefects next time" he advised with a calming smile "Or just ask a higher year for some help, some don't bite." he said with a chuckle "Where do you need to go?" he asked after a few seconds.

Sliding a hand through his silky black hair "Or you can stay here and practice dancing and singing somemore" he teased her with a chuckle waiting to see her reaction "it wasn't bad by the way, was nice to listen too." he added calmly stepping over to her which she would then notice how tall he was for a 13 year old boy.

grabbing a chair and lounging on it as he sits down waiting for her to react to what he said as he sets down his bag on a nearby table "Or stay here and relax, assuming you don't have classes right now." he added with a chuckle.

Serena shakes her head and says, "No its fine, I wasn't exactly heading that way. I was really just exploring, and got lost in the process. It happens to me a lot." She nods to him and says, "That would be nice, honestly I didn't know if there were maps or not...and I was a little too afraid to ask...b-but yeah I could ask for help from a higher year...but I don't like talking to people much." She then smiles as she says, "So I don't really need to go anywhere."

Serena watched him slide his hand through his hair, making her use her right hand to stroke her hair in the back, but she wasn't sure why. Hearing what he said she blushed again, saying, "I-I wasn't exactly practicing...I was just singing..and dancing...and it was bad, I don't know how to dance and my singing voice sounds like someone's killing a goat. She turned her head away as he walked towards her, blushing even harder, clearly not use to compliments very often. Looking back at him as she says, "I can stay here for a while, I don't have classes for a while, so I wouldn't mind relaxing a little. She slowly walked over and grabbed herself a chair, sitting into it as she somewhat covers her face with her hands, even though she knew he already knew she was blushing.

The word "serenity" always had a way of creeping into Millie's mind. Hogwarts had a special aura that seemed to make her feel much calmer than normal. Though, it could be the calming presence of other students that gave off a serene vibe. Either way, she began letting her mind wander farther away every time she strayed from the main halls of the castle.

Today, like every other day, was no different. She had finally gotten bored of being outside, and decided to head inside the castle. She hadn't planned on seeing any of her friends, and she didn't really want to go to her dorm and do homework. The knack for exploring the walls of Hogwarts crept into her blood, and she set off.

She had been to every room in Hogwarts, but the castle filled with mysteries seemed to make twenty more every day. She was just getting ready to head up to the fifth floor, when she heard something. At first, she didn't pay it any mind, but curiosity got the best of her.

She walked to the Ballroom, a place she had had many frets and problems, but also having created a  great time with new friends. It was all a mess, in her eyes.

After seeing a girl younger than her, and a boy older than her, Millie sighed. Yep. This was how all stories went, especially in her life.

"Oh hi." She said, walking up to them and smiling. "Am I intruding on something?"

Marcus chuckles softly watching Serena sit down still blushing "Everything alright?" he asked as she hides her face watching her curiously as he takes out a book from his bag titled in an unknown runic language.

Stopping before opening it as he hears someone entering the room he looks behind him and waves "Greetings, nothing is being interrupted just relaxing in between classes, come on in and join us." he invited to new girl to the table then opens up the book as scans through it glancing over to Serena as he asks her "Any favorite classes so far?" he asked curious as to what she likes "For me it's Defense, Charms and Transfiguration, can't wait for Runes." he added as he relaxes back into his seat going back to scanning over the runic book.

Looking back over to the newcomer "I am Marcus De Wynter, new lord of House De Wynter." inclining his head in greetings as is etiquette "What is you name?" he asks curiously seeing so many new faces around since he first started at Hogwarts 'Wonder what my year mates are doing.' he thought 'probably stupid thing.' he added in thought laughing in his head as he waits for the girls responses.

Serena nods to him as she says, "Oh yes everything is fine..its just that getting caught singing and dancing in the middle of a big room by someone wasn't on my to do list today." She giggles a little at her own joke, moving her hands away from her face as she looks at him, noticing the book that Marcus pulled out, but not addressing it since she too loved to read. Hearing the girl speak she looks at her, smiling at her as she says, "Hi." letting Marcus talk to the girl, and as she hears him invite her to join them she says, "Yes please come and join us, we're merely just talking."

Hearing Marcus' question Serena says, "I'd probably have to say Herbology, just...because. Although I do find Transfiguration a little fun." That made her wonder to herself, "Why do I like Herbology so much? I've never done gardening before...oh well, guess its just one of those things." Watching him look back at the girl and introduce himself she says with a little wave, "And I'm Serena Davies. Hufflepuff." Waiting for the girl to introduce herself next, thinking to herself, "She's pretty too...although she looks a little older then most, I wonder what year she is."

Oh good, neither the boy, nor the girl seemed to mind her being there. Letting her smile widened, she skipped to the two of them, thinking about lunch.

"I'm Euphrasia, but I prefer Millie," She introduced. "And I'm in Gryffindor." The house of the brave is exactly what accompanied Millie. She usually was brave, and got pretty reckless and stupid because of it. Though, there's nothing else she'd rather be. It wasn't like the rest of the houses fit her personality.

Sure, she was loyal, but she wasn't a hard worker. She wasn't smart, like those in Ravenclaw, and she definitely wasn't ambitious or cunning like people in Slytherin. But she was reckless, daring, and determined like Gryffindor. Even if it was something as small as throwing stuff at the Whomping Willow, or something as big as playing pranks on teachers. That was just a figment of who she truly was.

"I don't know, I don't really have a favorite class," She shrugged. "But I do know that I need to take Ancient Runes and finish Transfiguration to be a wandmaker, so I'll go with that."

Out of anything in the world, Millie desperately wanted to be a wandmaker. Sort of like Ollivander, but maybe somewhere else in the world. She didn't know exactly where, but somewhere in America or maybe somewhere else in Europe. But staying in England or Scotland would be way too boring.
