Final Task Pericles, Dealla, Aly The Wizarding Schools Potions Championship

A purple light came out of nowhere - no, literally, out of nowhere, with it clearly having been cast by an invisible teammate. Aly wasn't sure which of her friends cast it, but she whispered, "Thanks, mate!" anyway as the spell gently washed into her and she could feel the injury from the Swooping Evil beginning to fade. It wasn't a perfect heal, but surely it would help save them from losing many points from her having gotten injured.

Some of the confused haze that had begun to overtake her mind, clouding her senses and her thoughts, cleared enough for Aly to spot a soursop floating out of one of the baskets and towards the exit. She pointed, dumbly, as if the healing teammate could see her - okay, maybe the confusion wasn't entirely gone - and yelled out, "Hey, we've got one!"

Definitely a stupid idea. In the future, if she were ever asked about this experience, Aly would definitely not recommend getting bitten by a Swooping Evil, though she would at least joke that she made it out of here with her brain intact.

An angry buzzing filled the air, and suddenly, Aly spotted what appeared to be giant moths with stingers swarming around her - three in total, though others also seemed to dive towards two empty spots that she presumed, through the fog, to be her teammates. A small voice in the back of her head was trying to convince her that those were not her teammates at all, but her enemies, but Aly knew better and ignored it - she had more clear enemies in front of her anyway. She tried to run from the mosps (not that she knew what they were, but they looked quite unhappy), but the first got her in the arm with its painful dual stingers, and she cried out again in pain, grabbing the arm with her other hand and forcing herself to continue forward toward the exit, following the bobbing soursop that seemed to glow with the promise of escape in front of her.

A second angry bugger went straight for her face, and Aly managed to duck, but a third followed her as she did and got her in the leg; she cried out once more, some choice words that her mother might've fainted upon hearing, and fell, managing only to roll the last few yards out of the greenhouse and away from the swarm. A door slammed behind her, and then Dee's laughter filled the air before Aly groaned from her spot on the ground and pushed herself up onto her elbows.

"Bitten once, stung twice," she grumbled, "but I think I'm the only one. Remind me not to sign up for this next time if my official title will be group punching bag. Did we get the soursop? Is it..." She squinted at the fruit, floating in what she presumed to be Dee's hand, due to the joyous laughter that had filtered off in lieu of worried words. "Is it glowing, or am I just going mad?"

	Although invisibility hid the team from aggressors, it also obscured them from one another. Pericles narrowly managed to locate and heal Aly, but in the chaos to come, they wouldn't be so lucky. The ominous buzz of mosp wings announced the arrival of those "additional obstacles" they had been warned about. As one of the organizers for the infamously doomed Bootleg Blossom Ball, he groaned with the realization of what they were in for. Mosps might not have been a problem if immobilizing them was allowed. With spellwork off the table, retreat was the most reasonable option. At Dee's declaration of victory and Aly's cheer, Pear took off running. He could hear Aly somewhere up ahead and on his right, only confident of where she was by the time it was too late: a mosp jabbed its stinger at a blurry outline of his friend, and the bird winced when she cried out. "Keep going!" he urged, blindly grabbing at the air in an effort to find her hand. The nasty pests zoomed dangerously close, forcing him to duck and dodge their waving stingers, narrowly avoiding the same fate as Aly. He resumed searching for her as soon as they cleared the enchanted habitat, shuddering at the change of atmosphere from jungle to wintry Scotland. When his hand delved into a handful of fluff, Pericles quickly recognized it as Aly's hair, using guesstimation to find her shoulder next. "Twice? Where? I'll try another Reparifors." He nearly nodded at Dee's suggestion of an antidote before realizing they wouldn't see it. In an effort to laugh off the jitters from their mad dash, Pear quietly ribbed, "Seems as though they were picking on you. You must smell the nicest." They had accomplished their objective quickly, with little injury to their party and none to the beasts which heckled them. Dry humor was replaced by good-natured pride as he agreed, "I think we did as well as we could. Excellent work with the soursop, Dee, and well done to all of us for the potions we produced. This was worth saturating in a room that smelled of boiled chicken."

As the championship drew to a close, and some competitors finished their tasks, the crowd in the stands was in high spirits. The noise was almost deafening, people were shouting, applauding and cheering for their friends and teammates. Melisande smiled brightly as she saw all the enthusiasm surrounding her, "We did good!" She said, leaning slightly towards Méabh and muttering in her ear so the potions professor could hear over all the commotion. She winked at Regan before turning her attention back to the Quidditch field, towards where the real action was still happening.
