Yougle's body hit the floor (clearly, she had not been all right) just as another spell seemed to blow up in one of the Hufflepuff's face. Maybe the emotions of duelling were causing everyone to lose focus on spellcasting.

Maisie gripped her wand tighter.

Spells missed and failed, but hers rung true, even if lacked some of the pizzaz of her peers. She looked across at Tracey. "Looks like it's you and me," she said with a gentle nod. It wasn't that long ago that the two had faced off against each other, but now they were what was left on the eagles' side of the piste. And Maisie would have her back through the time that remained.

Alright! One bird down, two to go! The badgers were making steady progress chipping away at their efforts slowly but surely. With Costanza's blindfold removed and Minnie's stellar casting, they could pull off this match!

Until Emily didn't when her fire spell backfired. And instead of Tracey, where did it land?

Emily simply stood on the piste as the flames engulfed her, nothing more than a frustrated groan rumbling out of her chest. This was the quote-on-quote "practice" match with Sere all over again. Her wand going bust on her at the most ridiculous times.

Well... She always said to herself she would go down guns glazing... And now here she was!

12:30-13:30 on Sunday, 9th of February, 2025...

Bad luck after bad luck kept on coming to the Raven’s side. Tracey had the idea to try casting Metelojinx once more, a spell that she had failed to conjure just a few rounds ago. A storm cloud looming over your opponent’s side with a chance to bring down a lightning that Raizel sure hoped wasn’t fatal. Had she been on the receiving end of that? She sure can’t remember but getting struck by lightning is no joke. Duelling sure is aggressive with spells like that and this was just a duel with younger years, the spells they are using are still pretty tame compared to what you will see in the higher years. In anycase, it was a brilliant idea… but unfortunately for Tracey, it didn’t go the way she wanted it to be. That storm cloud that was supposed to be on the other side of the piste ended up on their side so not only are they dealing with three of their opponents but also the cloud above.

Maisie was just as unlucky but more on the fact that her Flipendo that was meant to be for Emily was aimed pretty badly and ended up hitting Minnie. But since the new target was from the Hufflepuff team, guess it was still in their favor. Minnie did try to avoid the surprise Flipendo but after being caught off guard by the stray spell, she barely did and still got brushed by it in the end. Lucky for Emily though for if that Flipendo hit, it would’ve been the end for her and would be on her way to the hospital wing, following Yougle’s footsteps. She is just one Flipendo away from getting knocked out. Guess Minnie’s sacrifice won’t be in vain if you take it that way.

There wasn’t that much to say for the rest of the Hufflepuff team, most of their spells were successful but not their aim. Most of those spells went too far from their intended targets but they are doing a lot better than the birds. With no one knocked out this round, the duel continues without stopping.

Oh, so now the wand decides it wants to work! Yes, only when Emily is literally burning in flames will the wand decide to chip in and cast a spell in her favour. Typical!

Alas, Emily shouldn't complain. The Extinguishing Charm was a success and the repercussions of her failed fire spell were put out immediately. What had been a suffocating heat was quickly replaced by a relieving gust of air from the room. However, she was still hanging on by a thread. Fatigue was eating away at her.

But so long as she could still physically stand, Emily wasn't out. Yet.

"Shrieking sherbert!"

Her eyebrows raised. Of all the responses one could possibly have to pain, this one seemed more like it belonged on a playground somewhere than on the duelling piste. Clearly, the poorly aimed Flipendo had not made much of an impact. She'd have to ask Mylo about spell power and such.

But that actually seemed far from the problem as the stormcloud arrived on their side. "No, no, no," Maisie said, eyes wide. The memory of how this thing destroyed her in her practice match with Tracey was fresh in her mind. Though perhaps it hadn't been all bad—that had been the start of her duelling career and her friendship with Mylo.

Even so, there was no denying this was a threat, in addition to the Hufflepuffs across the way. Even Tracey did not seem happy about it. Swallowing, Maisie knew they needed a plan. And they only had a matter of seconds to come up with one.
