Quidditch Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw - Winter 2025

Like a couple of F-22s, the Ravenclaw beaters swooped in together intercepting their targets. Ebony fired first. Direct hit! Pax was shot out of the sky. Having lost his wingman and defender, Elsian was now an easy target. Jorah launched his missile straight and true towards the Gryffindor Seeker. Another hit! The collateral damage was spectacular! Not only was Elsian knocked out of the air, but his broom was also out of commission, and poor Ethan who was too close to the attack got knocked of his broom as well. Jorah “Broombreaker” Moussa was living up to his name. Not long ago, had he destroyed @Elsian Cox’s Cleansweep, but now a Silver Arrow too? In this economy?!? The horror, the HORROR!

In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself).
In the role of Beater, if an ALLY dodges a bludger during the round, there is a 20% chance that you catch that bludger with your bat and you send it at a RANDOM enemy target.

Note: For the rules lawyers out there: you are not considered your own ally.
In the role of Beater, if you critically hit with a bludger, instead of doing double-damage you do 2.5x damage. If you critically fail with your bludger attempt to hit, rather than having your bludger randomly target another user (including yourself or an ally) the bludger cannot target you on a critical fail (but it can still target your allies). On a re-target, there is a random roll for target and then a fresh accuracy roll.

Nicholas looked at the first year with whom he shared a bench. Not one he particularly recognised, but he supposed he wasn't the most social of an upperclassman. He was about to counter her suggestion, only to watch Pax get knocked out of the sky. He gripped the broom in his hands as he did so, painfully frustrated at his inability to do anything from the bench. This was nothing like racing, he felt utterly powerless. Still, he forced himself to calm as he responded, "Would have thought they'd target Elsian. Guess Pax got in the way, good stuff." Nicholas clicked his tongue, "You up, kid? Go break a leg. Preferably one of theirs."

Players were once again falling from the sky but this time, all of them wore red and gold. It seemed the luck was finally turning and Avis clutched her Comet 180 with white knuckles, letting out a whoop as one of the older chasers with a mass of red hair scored not 10 but 50 points for the the birds. Avis watched her fly around the pitch with awe-struck eyes, her 11 year old self yearning to be exactly like her in a few years.

It seemed the Chasers weren’t the only position putting Ravenclaw back on top. The Beaters were the ones sending the lions flying, so to speak, and Avis winced but clapped in admiration at every solid hit.

She turned her attention to the benched seeker sitting to her left as a question entered her mind. Scooting closer, Avis gave her a smile while still trying to focus on the chaos above.

“You seen the Snitch from down here yet?” she asked, her eyes flitting back and forth across the sky.

Oonagh chewed on her bottom lip in thought, a nasty habit that was worse in winter or when she was trying really hard to think anything logical, like strategy. But she had to agree that Elsian would have been the prime target if Pax would not have thrown themselves into the way. "You up, kid? Go break a leg. Preferably one of theirs." The boy seemed encouraging enough and Oogie jumped at the opportunity, pushing herself into the air with a salute to the boy. "Ye betcha, A shall let chaos reign on thaim," It was her time to shine now and shine she would. Pax was out but so was Ethan, they both bit the grass around the same time. Which meant Oonagh might have to play it safe after all, her eyes narrowed as she reached the height of the other players and readied herself for action.

Elsian missed, hands swiping at air as the snitch darted just out of reach. It felt like every time he got close enough for his fingers to graze that elusive snitch it already knew Elsians next move and got out of the way just in the nick of time-

A sharp burst of pain through his torso shattered his focus, a startled shout torn from his throat as he was sent tumbling down with only broken scraps of his broom left. Too focused. He’d been way too focused on the snitch when he should’ve been trying to evade-!

A blur of red and gold proved to be his saving grace, or rather @Shubhangi Kanjilal. Elsian grit his teeth through the small burst of pain that went through him as he dragged himself onto the others broom, happily, shamelessly taking all the help he could. “Just barely,” he groaned, shifting on the broom with a small laugh, “nice catch by the way.”

Giving a nod he grinned, gesturing towards where he’d last saw the snitch. “Couldn’t have said it better myself, lets go.”

Quinn steeled herself as the match went on. Quidditch was a rough game and she had to stay on top of it. A few more points had been scored and the snitch seemed to have been spotted but that wasn't Quinn's focus. With someone else on her broom she smiled at the girl for a second. With her head back in the game Quinn rolled her shoulders back and continued forward.

Her bat collided with the bludger, sending it his way; but before the metal ball found its target, the captain collided into it, knocking them off their broom. Her fellow beater held no hesitation either, immediately taking down Elsian as well as Ethan along the way. It really was raining lions, wasn't it?
