When AngelFyre received word from Kim that the Golden Explorer's Club was back up and running after being down for a couple of years, she was glad to hear it, but she was even more glad to know that he seemed to be up and running again himself. She did not know the details of what had plagued him recently, and she clearly was not on a need to know basis with him, but it was nice to see that mouth twitch of his that generally passed for a smile grace his face every now and again. Any progress had to be good on that front, whatever the reason.

She immediately memorized the date, place, and time of the launch meeting for the newly revived club and knew she would be there. Later that evening she had rummaged through her trunk, sitting at the foot of her bed, and located her green sash with the Golden Explorer's Club badge sewn onto it over two years ago. She then made certain that her white shirt and beige khakis were clean, and that her hiking boots were waterproofed.

The day finally arrived, and she had been counting down the hours. She had her Prefect patrols to do, and normally would have done those later in the evening, but she and Simon were also going to be putting in time practicing their broom racing maneuvers. That she expected to go a bit late, so it would be better to get patrols done now. Being punctual was a big deal to her. It was just simply good manners and showed the proper respect to other people whose time was equally as valuable as her own. Today, for reasons beyond her control, however, punctuality to the GEC meeting was not in the cards.

She was on her way out the front entrance when she heard some cries for help coming from the staircases, that were being their normal troublesome selves to a couple of first years who had found themselves stuck for a good 15 minutes. That was their story anyway, and though it seemed like an awful long time to AngelFyre, she was in a hurry and could get them where they hoped to go easily enough. They wished to go to the Library, so she told them to be still and planned to levitate them both off the staircase and down to the Ground Floor. One girl, the Gryffindor, squealed with absolute delight and begged to be levitated again when AngelFyre got her down. AngelFyre had to laugh and promised she would, but at a time when she was not in such a hurry. When her attention was turned to the stranded Ravenclaw girl, it was obvious she did not hold the same enthusiasm at the prospect of being levitated.

AngelFyre approached the landing, trying to soothe the scared girl, but the girl, in her fright, kept backing up, moving closer to a sizable drop off that she was not thinking about right in that moment. AngelFyre promised she would not levitate her if she did not want to be, but told her she needed to be mindful of the drop off behind her. Her Gryffindor friend called up to her how much fun it was, and promised her two chocolate frogs from her stash if the girl would agree to be levitated. An interest was sparked at the mention of the chocolate frogs and the girl finally agreed. Just as AngelFyre was about to cast, the staircase started its move and the Ravenclaw's look of relief could not be missed.

She wished them both well and turned to run out the door, pretty certain she was definitely going to be late at this point. As she ran towards the front door, she heard the girls bickering over whether those chocolate frogs were going to be paid out or not. That, AngelFyre decided, was definitely not a problem for a Prefect.

She ran all the way to the designated place, and upon approach, heard a girl yelling in a terrified pitch at a very sizeable decibel level. AngelFyre had no idea what was happening, but it sounded like this very well might be a Prefect's problem, so she really put on the speed.

When she got there, she could not for the life of her figure out what had the young girl so upset, but she approached her immediately. "What is it? What is it?" she asked hurriedly while looking at the scene around her quickly. She saw Kim and Bailey talking with and overseeing a couple of younger students putting up a tent, but she failed to see what was so upsetting in the moment until the movement of the green snake caught her attention.

AngelFyre was not afraid of snakes, but this girl clearly was. "Okay. Okay. You are fine. See?" and she stepped between the girl and the snake. "It has to get through me first. This is someone's pet, I promise you, and means you no harm. It is not native to Scotland, so its owner is likely here right now."

AngelFyre looked over to Kim first and then to Bailey. "Does that green beauty belong to either of you?" she smiled admiringly, letting her gaze flash back to Kim. Between the two of them, smart money would bet it was Kim's snake.

Turning back to the girl behind her, she quipped, "It is just doing what we are all here to do... explore."

Sinclair knew she was late. She had been trying to get adjusted to life at Hogwarts, and what better way to do that than to explore with some schoolmates? She thought this club would be perfect for her considering her love for exploring nature and enjoying the peace it brings. However..... where was the meeting point??

The girl had been responsible. She woke early, dressed early, and set off to find the location early, but seems that the doodle she had frantically scribbled into her journal was not.. her best attempt at drawing. ...What did I even write... If I had my phone I could've just taken a quick picture.

Sinclair wandered the grounds for a while, but eventually she could smell the scent of campfire, brought to her by the wind. Following the scent of burning wood, she found herself at the campsite. She would've felt relieved, if not for the shrill shriek of someone's reaction to a snake, causing her pupils to shrink. A snake?? It looks exotic, probably a pet. It doesn't look like it's gonna strike. If that's someone pet they can come handle it themselves.
She shrugged and didn't bother too much with the snake, or the girls for that matter, and started walking away. She'd encountered common grass snakes at her family's farm, and her father always told her to leave em alone to do its business unless it was going to attack their chickens and ducks, or you might end up with a nasty bite for no good reason! Hell if she was going to mess around with nature or let ignorance make a fool out of herself.

Despite being late, just by observation she got the general gist of what was going on. She would have gone towards the sashes to get one for herself, then a camping set to set up a tent. However she observed the company for a bit longer, then came to the conclusion: ..Actually, I don't want to do this right now. It was a bunch of strangers, and right now she noticed she wasn't quite ready to socialise, and so walked off. If anything, she probably entered and left the area without anyone noticing she was there in the first place.

"Don't worry, he's pretty nice most of the time. As long as you don't try and hurt him or me, he's a real sweetheart."
