Arden stood within the manical menagerie, gaze sweeping over the shelfs as they searched for the treats Victoria loved. Their father had some business at gringotts and had let Arden go buy some fresh school supplies and a few other things, he had said something about preparing for school once again, since only few days of winter break remained. Hand brushing against the shelf as they glanced up and down, a little dissapointed they had yet to find the treats. Victoria would certainly protest about it, the gluttonous little furball, Arden sometimes wondered if they had spoiled the feline too much. Though Victoria was otherwise model cat otherwise, despite her hunger for treats, all prim and noble cat like arrogance.
Arden couldn't quite believe that it had been five years since they had received the feline as a gift! Victoria had certainly grown very much from the tiny furball she was as a kitten, nowdays she was more the size of a small dog. Arden had once wondered if Victoria possessed some mainecoon ancestors or perhaps even kneazle ones, but they had never had the chance to check the noble felines heritage.
Arden was shaken from their thoughts as they finally noticed the treats they had been searching for. Taking a quick moment to glance around, they hoped no one had seen their moment of scattermindedness. Arden picked up the treats, walking to the counter and swiftly paying for the item. After the transaction, Arden walked out of the magical menagerie, already spotting Father talking with some acquintance as Arden hurried over to him.Arden remembered the first time they ever saw Victoria, on their birthday. It had been a cold and rainy day, with Arden spending time with their aunt while their father had dissapeared somewhere only an hour ago. The rain was loud as it hit the frost covered windows, a fire was crackling within the old stone fireplace as their aunt's voice was heard, no doubt telling some of some old story from Tophias's, Arden's fathers, school days in the mans absence. Arden was settled in a cozy armchair, knees folded infront of themself as they sipped a warm drink. A small table set up next to them, an array of sweets and baked goods adorning the table for the birthday child.
Aunt Cecilia smiled widely as she began telling of a another story. Arden leaning attentively, curiously listening to their aunt's every word. The cozy sight was suddenly interrupted as a loud sound echoed through the manor, the front door had been slammed open. Aunt Cecilia's voice stopped as her brows furrowed in corcern. Arden was startled by the sound, but recovered quickly as they glanced to their aunt.
Soon Father opened the doors of the sitting room, absolutely soaking from the rain outside, cloak wrapped tightly around himself. Aunt Cecilia rised to her feet, crossing the room swiftly as she began fussing over the man, casting a drying spell and calling for their house elf. Father only let Aunt Cecilia fuss over him for a few seconds, before brushing off his older siblings attempts at being a mother hen over him.
Father walked over to Arden, a smile adorning his face as he showed a small kitten that he had wrapped in his cloak. ''A little tradition for 8th birthdays'' Father whispered as Arden's eyes widened at the sight of the small feline. A gasp escaping them as their father handed the kitten to Arden. Icy blue eyes blinking up at her new owner, a soft meow escaping the siberian kitten.
Arden cradled the feline in their hands as it pawed at their shirt, apparently intending to climb. They lowered themself a bit as the kitten climbed onto Arden's shoulder and stayed there, apparently content as she let out a small purr. Arden lifted their gaze from observing the feline, shuffling on the armchair as they refound a comfortable position, now with a new feline companion.
''I shall name her..'' Arden thought about it for a moment. This was such a brief decision for Arden, yet it would be this feline's name for the rest of her life. Arden glanced once more to their father and aunt, the former of which was groaning about how father was going to catch a fewer with this kind of behavior. A house elf, Vanny, now joining in Aunt Cecilia's rant, pushing a warm platter containing tea and biscuits to Father. Father only chuckling in response, content to observe his sisters complaints.
Arden smiled once more, glancing to the siberian kitten, letting the feline sniff their finger. ''Victoria..Your name is now Victoria'' Arden spoke, grabbing a small piece of fish from the small table next to them, handing it over to the small kitten. Victoria began to eat the small piece of fish, licking her lips after the food had been swiftly devoured. ''Well you certainly eat quick'' Arden remarked, now petting the feline as a soft smile adorned their expression.
