Demeter was hopping by the fountain, sniffing the marble construction. Then, suddenly, the two-year-old kitten ran over to her. Demeter’s nose and ears twitched, hopping excitedly when she saw Tiger. She was eager to play with the kitten again!
Kaitlyn was in the middle of a twirl in the snow, ignoring the cold for the time being when she noticed her bunny out of the corner of her eye … with Tiger. Before she could say anything, she was suddenly hugged by her best friend, Tracey. Oh, how she missed seeing Tracey! That was, sadly, one of the many prices she paid by trying to focus more on studying. She missed this whole social interaction!
Katie leaned into the hug, reciprocating it in kind. “I’ve missed you so much, Tracey!” She exclaimed, a few tears welled in her eyes, threatening to spill over despite the temperature. She squirmed a little in the hug … not out of shyness, but because she felt like a terrible best friend.
Once Tracey let go of her, the tears dripped from her eyes over her cheeks. “I’m sorry, I’m a terrible friend! I should’ve owled you. My marks last year weren’t as high as I’d like, so I’ve been hiding in my dorm a lot, trying to study to hopefully improve my grades. Goodness, I’m a terrible friend …. I’m sorry,” she rambled, repeating herself in the process. Her mind wasn’t working correctly at the moment. All she could think of was that she let her best friend down, which was never her intention.
