Water Music
Serena sat at the bank of the water on the island that Hogwarts was on, the waves crashing on the land, the waves touching her bare feet. Her shoes were behind her, and her pants was pulled up to her knees to make sure it wouldn't get wet. Her hair was surprisingly not down, but in a pony tail at the back, still going down her back quite a bit, showing anyone that came by how long her hair was. Although the thing that stood out the most, that would be surprising to anyone who had seen her before, was the sparkle in her eyes, one she never had any other time.
Serena just sat there, listening to the wind blowing, causing the water to make waves, making its own noise. Her mind was drifting to her home, back when her friends and she would go out to the Audenshaw Reservoir just about every day after school, it wasn't very far either. She giggled as she thought about them having to go all the way around the golf clubs that were around there because they had got in a lot of trouble when they had tried to cut through them.
Serena had always taken a liking to the sound of the water, she didn't know why though. On one hand it was quite soothing, on the other she was kind of afraid of the water on the account that she wasn't the best swimmer; one way or another she still loved it. She remembered a strange girl her and her friends had once met. A little girl with blonde hair, quite the pretty one at that, but the only reason she did was because of what the girl called the movement of the water, “water music.” Serena loved that name and always referred to the waves as such.
Serena sighed happily, listening more to the waves and the wind, calming her nerves. It was always good for her to spend some time alone, especially in between her classes. Her teachers were nice and all, but with all her classes, being overwhelmed by all the other students, and then her homework, she needed some time to just sit around, but sometimes it was nice to talk to someone, despite the anti-social person she was.

Walking alongside the bank with her notepad, Rosalyn searched for something new to draw. She had been interested in drawing people after a recent confrontation with another, yet, she didn't know who to draw. At the moment in time, no one had struck her fancy, or she has drawn them already. Yet, out afar, a girl with hair that seemed equal length to oneself caught Rosalyn's attention. The way she sat alongside the bank seemed picture-perfect. Rosalyn ran. Each step sinking in the wet sand, her shoes getting wet by the occasional waves.
As she got closer, Rosalyn began to slow down instead of stopping on the dime; She didn't want to kick sand in the girl's hair. She would then walk in front of the girl, and sit. Rosalyn still had her pants and shoes on, but she didn't care if they got wet; her mind was focused on the girl in front of her. She flipped to a new page in her notebook and began to draw the girl without saying anything. The girl was beautiful, the sparkle in her blue eyes that seemed to be waving towards her like the waves crashing onto the bank. "Oeuvre" she would say out loud to herself.

Serena sat there relaxing when suddenly she saw the legs of someone else wearing the same uniform as her, making her smile, thinking, "Ok Serena, you got this, you can be social." She started to look up but was startled when the person just sat down in front of her, revealing to Serena that it was a young girl, most likely the same age as her. She stared at the girl with white hair, clearly at awe due to the beauty of it. "Dang...look at that hair. Its so pretty." she thought to herself, as she just stared at the girls hair before looking down to try to get a look at her eyes.
A little disappointed that she couldn't see the girls eyes directly, only seeing a little bit of it because she was doing something with her notebook, but she was able to notice by the little bit she could see, that it looked like quite the unnatural color, making her wonder to herself in her head, "Is that red..? I can't see it really well, I want a closer look."
Serena was then a little startled by what the girl said to herself out loud, wondering what it meant. She then decided to say in a sweet voice, "Hi." to the girl, hoping to get her attention so she'd look up, giving the girl a smile to hopefully not startle her or scare her away.

Rosalyn stops drawing immediately. For a few seconds, she is completely still, frozen almost. She slowly turns her head up to the girl, staring directly into her eyes with a blank expression. Rosalyn wasn't expecting for the girl to say anything, she just wanted to draw. She continues to stare deep into the girl's eyes, this would continue for 30 seconds. The girl's eyes were direct opposites of Rosalyn's, so Rosalyn wondered if the girl's personality was the same.
Rosalyn set her pencil down on her notebook and opened her mouth to speak "Hi." Her voice was monotone. She was usually never aware of the tone of her voice, nor did she know the effect it had on conversations. Yet, she does remember her parents nagging about it. Rosalyn's eyes would widen childish, as a sudden thought came to her head. She quickly extended her arm out to shake the girl's hand and said "Rosalyn Mairead. Ravenclaw." She would say the phrase quickly, but it was still monotone. Rosalyn remembered in a book she once read saying how important it was to greet people this way, and her eyes would begin to glisten with excitement for the girl to accept the handshake.

Serena, seeing the girl stop drawing and freeze, started to fear she had scared the girl, and her smile slowly faded a little. When the girl looked up at her, Serena returned her big smile to her face as if to try to comfort this white haired girl. As they stared at each other for those 30 seconds, the sparkle remained in Serena's eyes, and her smile stayed too, and it was clear that Serena was taking extra interest in the color of the girls eyes, thinking to herself, "Holly crap they are red! That's so pretty. I've never seen someone with red eyes before. Hearing the girl say "Hi." Serena got clearly excited, even though it was in a monotone voice, but she quickly calmed herself, still trying not to scare the girl away.
Seeing the girl stick her hand out for a hand shake and after hearing her say, "Rosalyn Mairead. Ravenclaw." Serena took her hand with her own and shook it, saying, "I'm Serena Davies. Hufflepuff." but when she said it there wasn't any special pride in her voice, clearly not trying to make her house seem any more important then Rosalyn's. Serena generally didn't understand the rivalry between the houses, it just seemed childish to her, but people are people and they have their competitiveness.

Rosalyn let go of the girl's hand after they introduced one another. However, she noticed the way Serena said Hufflepuff felt off. Rosalyn has only met one another Hufflepuff though, but she believed that they were usually supposed to be hyper, outgoing, prideful, and etc. "You do not strike me as a Hufflepuff." she says with the same tone of voice from before. If anything, Rosalyn believed that Serena should have been a Ravenclaw, but it mostly due to Serena's blue eyes.
Rosalyn picked up her pencil and continued to draw. She wouldn't look back up towards Serena anymore, Rosalyn already memorized every aspect of her face. Rosalyn's eyes would seem like they were getting brighter, she was excited to finish the drawing. She already knew exactly how and what she was going to do, she just had to put the pencil onto the paper. After finishing, she stared at the drawing for a moment, and then she looked up towards Serena. "Your eyes are nice." she would say with her usual blank expression, but her voice seemed less monotone than before. She held her notebook up towards Serena, showing her the drawing. Rosalyn would move her head towards the side of the notebook so she could witness Serena's expression.

Hearing the girls comment about not seeming like a Hufflepuff, it made Serena wonder, "Why was I chosen for this house..? I mean out of the four there was a chance of me landing on this one, but why?" She had been told many times that The Sorting Hat was never wrong, but that didn't change how she felt about it. Then again she had only really met a few Hufflepuffs in her dorm room, and they seemed pretty friendly. Come to think about it, she hadn't met that many people from any of the houses, she really did need to get out more.
Serena just sat there, watching the girl draw, seeing how the girls eyes seemed to get brighter her own sparkled more, the look on her own face showed her excitement. She blinked and smiled at the girl when she looked back up, and she seemed a little surprised by the girl saying her eyes were nice, blinking a few times before she said, "Well your eyes are pretty."

Rosalyn didn't pay much attention to Serena's compliments; she was used to hearing it so frequently. Rosalyn cared more for the reaction to the drawing, and she wasn't disappointed. She would blush slightly after hearing Serena say the drawing was amazing, however, after hearing the girl's question, Rosalyn felt disappointed. She never had someone critique her drawings, or even say negative things about it. "Are people just being nice? Are they lying? Are my drawings the true perfect creations of the world?" those were her thoughts. "I read a book about drawing." was her answer to the girl's question.
Soon after answering, Rosalyn had a question herself. "What about my drawing is amazing?" Before Hogwarts, Rosalyn had no one to show her drawings too, so all of the compliments she received at first were exciting. Yet, she got bored quickly hearing the same words always being used to describe her art: beautiful, amazing, awesome, nice, magnificent. "Have I reached the peak of my drawing capabilities?" Rosalyn had read an old philosophy book a few years back about nothing is perfect, and it made sense to her. So it confused her a lot that she had never received any bad comments about her drawings, nor did she see anything wrong with her drawings itself.
Soon after answering, Rosalyn had a question herself. "What about my drawing is amazing?" "Huh..." said to herself out loud. She had never read a book that'd teach someone about drawing, but in all fairness she preferred story books, especially ones where swords are used more then guns, but that's because she had always had a deep interest in The Medieval Ages.
Hearing the girls question she smiles still as she tilts her head, taking a breath before she started to explain, "Well for starters its extremely detailed, and then there's how you changed the eyes to look different, making it almost make it look like I'm looking into two different worlds and its really beautiful, and I especially like it because I can tell you put your heart into it, and anything done with heart is amazing by default, don't you think?"
Serena seems to stop and think for a second before she says, "So no matter what even though there are artists as back as time goes, its still amazing because its something you put your heart into." Her eyes then grew wide as she noticed that all she did was ramble on to the girl, probably scared her accidently in the process too. Rosalyn didn't really understand Serena's response, for she didn't think she put any heart into it at all. She simply finds something cool and draws it. Rosalyn also was confused on how putting heart into anything makes it amazing, and thus she thought up of plentiful examples in her head. So, she decided to ask Serena herself: "How does putting your heart into something make it amazing? Assuming you mean effort, people put their heart into things all the time and fail. There are also plenty of amazing things that didn't require that sort of efforts, such as the invention of gunpowder or the discovery of gravity."
A bigger wave would come in and completely splash Rosalyn's back. She would immediately jump up in shock, as she finally noticed that she had been wet. She would walk past Serena, and stood where the waves couldn't reach her. Rosalyn turned around and looked at Serena, and said "I was wrong about you not being like a Hufflepuff. You say strange things and smile a lot."
[OOC] I'm so sorry for taking so long to respond! I've been very busy with school and managing work that I just haven't been able to get on. Luckily I was able to add bits and pieces every now and then and save it as a draft.
