---------------⊹₊⋆.˚୨୧⋆.˚₊ ⊹---------------Elena could not stand in one place as she was overwhelmed with the excitment she felt when finally entering the school where she would create chaos study thoroughly for the next seven years. She was practically jumping around, letting out some happy squeals every time she caught a sight of something magical. Of course she knew magic, even if she grew up in a muggle farm her mother never hid her magic and used it for daily chores. But here the grandeur of it all seemed ten times more wonderful.✧˖°.——⋆˖⁺‧₊☽❀☾₊‧⁺˖⋆——✧˖°.
She bumped into a small group of students as she was looking up at the ceiling of the great hall that seemed to be an open gate to the night sky. The numerous foating candles added to the enchanted atmosphere of the room.
However, Elena being Elena, she quickly got distracted by the most remarkable aspect of the ceremony : the infinite amount of dishes laid on the four long tables. The exceptional buffet spread a complex fragrance, mixing the various savory meals, making the redhead's mouth water.
Her thoughts where suddenly interrompted by a loud ceremonial voice ; following the other's student eyes, she quickly saw where the voice was coming from : a seemingly old man with creased face and grey hair was facing the assembly. Elena instantly knew it was the current headmaster, Solomon Lear.
He began a welcoming speech, explaining the next step of the sorting ceremony and introducing the famous sorting hat. It was an old, worn wizard hat that who seemed both wise and grumpy. He would decide the first year's fate by sorting them into one of the four houses. Elena was not concerned about where she would be sorted as she knew every house had its perks. Ravenclaw was probably the least suitable house for her as she imagined its students as calm nerdy bookworms, three adjectives that were the opposite of who she was.
The speech and the sorting hat song felt like ages and Elena was growing bored when the first student was finally called to get sorted. Unfortunately for the impatient eleven years old, the sorting was not as exciting as she expected and after the first few student it became obviously redundant : a new student would be called, he would come and sit on the chair while the hat was being put on his head before shouting the corresponding house ; applause and the student would go sit at his new house's table.
Finally her name was called "Elena Dough".
She hastily trotted to the chair, barely avoiding tripping. She sat on the chair with a big smile waiting for the professor to put on the hat. She suddenly felt a weird feeling as the hat seemed to enter her thoughts
"You're a reckless one aren't you ? Adventurous, full of energy... Yes, the answer seems obvious... GRYFFINDOR" As he shouted the last word outloud, the crimson and gold dressed students started clapping and cheering while the newly proclaimed gryffindor joined their table.
And there it begun, she was officially a proud gryffindor. The ceremony kept going for a while before Elena could finally devour a mix of all the foods she could grab. While she enjoyed the delicious meals she cheerfully chatted with the students next to her.
When the evening was coming to an end, the students where invited to follow their house's prefect to their common room. And that was the first evening of her new exciting journey.

Drayden slowly made his way into the Great Hall with all of the other 1st year students, staying in a small group with some of the other students he made friends with while on the Hogwarts Express. His eyes gazed everywhere, from the magical floating lights above everyone, to the four long tables that went the length of the room, as well as the last table, all the way at the far end, that seemed to be the area for all the teachers of this magical School.
Drayden made his way to the far end of the Great Hall with all of the other 1st years, as he watched all of the upperclassmen sit down, but making sure to go to specific tables. Drayden came to the conclusion that each table was for one of the different houses, here at Hogwarts, as he saw everyone wearing the same color at each table, depending on the house they were from.
He listened as to what was going to happen, all of the 1st years were about to get sorted into their house, via the Sorting Hat. Drayden was excited as to which one he was going to be assigned. He had no idea which one he was going to get, but was excited for the chance either way. He watched as they started to take students up one by one, and as they took their seats under the Sorting hat, it decided their houses for them.
Soon it was Drayden’s turn, and he walked up and took a big gulp, as even though he was excited for this, he was still nervous as he was still new to all of this magic stuff. He slowly turned around to face all of the students of the school. He sat down as the hat was placed on top of his head. It mumbled out loud a bit as it went over a few of Drayden’s characteristics, before coming to the conclusion of GRYFFINDOR!
Drayden smirked as the Sorting Hat was removed from the top of his head, and he proceeded to make his way over to the Gryffindor table and take a seat with some of the other 1st years, who had just recently been sorted into the Gryffindor house as well. Drayden sat there watching the remaining students get sorted, with a big smile on his face as he knew the upcoming years were going to be the best years of his life.

Hydrus looked up at the ceiling, and whispered to the girl next him, "It's enchanted to look like the sky outside." The girl just nodded absentmindedly. He looked around the hall and saw four long tables, each packed with students. "How will we fit there?" He whispered. He had read all about the houses and honestly didn't care which one he got in. He noticed a lot of people staring at his bright blue hair and smirked, at least he had made an entrance, even if he hadn't made any friends on the express. Hydrus jumped slightly when the house started talking. 'Hmm I wonder why they didn't tell us how we get sorted in the book?' He listened to the song with the rest of the new students. Suddenly..."Blackthorn, Hydrus!" Hydrus walked up to the hat, pretending to be confident, but shaking with nerves on the inside. As soon as the hat touched his head, it began speaking. "What's this? A boy who lost his parents at a young age, yet still remembers them clearly, how interesting. Yes...you would be an excellent match for Raven law. But you faced trauma and moved past it. That takes true bravery. Yes, best be... Gryffindor!" He smiled walk to the table, sitting at the end, excited for his journey at Hogwarts to begin.

Frieda was astonished as she entered the great hall, some say it was magical, well it was magic. Frieda had seen magic before, after all, she was a pure-blood she practically grew up with magic, her brother showed her tricks with his wand when she was younger and she played enchanted board games as well. However, the magic at Hogwarts radiated and gleamed before her eyes. She had always heard stories from her elder brother Elijah about Hogwarts, she knew it would be amazing and unlike anything she'd seen before. But she didn't think it would be this amazing. She looked up at the ceiling of the Great Hall which was enchanted to replicate the beautiful night sky outside. She wanted to be Hufflepuff just like her older Brother, however, she knew that wouldn't happen. Well, one of Hufflepuff's values is patience, and Frieda, well let's say she's the most impatient person ever. Well, she can hope, that the hat will pick Hufflepuff.
Frieda was practically shaking with excitement, 'I can't wait until my name is called!' Frieda thought to herself, practically counting how many letters until 'M' the start of her last name. "Moonstone, Frieda" The Deputy Headmistress called out, Frieda excitedly made her way to the three-legged stool. The large thousand-year-old hat was placed on her head as she sat down.
"Hello Mr. Hat!" Frieda said quietly as the hat was placed on her head. She was very excited yet very nervous. She didn't want to get into Slytherin, she had heard many stories of the house's bad reputation, and how most evil wizards came from the particular house.
"Hello, another Moonstone I see..." The hat mumbled, "Very different from your brother, aren't you?" It said looking through her mind to find traits that would fit with the houses.
"Uh, Mr. Hat? Would you mind if you'd put me in Hufflepuff with my brother?" Frieda asked politely, her toes on the wooden beam connecting the three legs of the wooden stool
"Oh dear, you wouldn't go well in Hufflepuff, you're not very patient, and that's one of Hufflepuff's values." The hat said, Frieda couldn't help but agree, even she knew she wasn't very patient. "However, you are quite ambitious." The hat added. Frieda knew where this was going. She was going to be placed in the house she dreaded the most, the house with the most dark wizards, "SLYTHERIN!" the hat roared as people applauded.
Frieda silently made her way to the Slytherin table, maybe she would fit in? Well, all she knew was that it was going to be a year full of mysteries ahead.

When Aiker walked into the Great Hall his eyes were all over the place. The candles floating around, the clouds above them all. What in the world is he doing there? He should be in a small school near his family, but instead he was in a...basically a castle and royal school, far away from his horses and parents. How is he suppose to be here and wear a cape? Really?
And the Hat...Like, it´s really weird that a person could analyze your head without you telling them to do so, why is there a Hat now. Aiker was a little late to the reunion so he sat down in the rows meant for the first year students and just wait for his turn with patience as he looked at the rest of the students get sorted by this...hat.
I mean, don´t get him wrong, he loved the atmosphere there, but it´s all so...new to him. The people with capes and smiles full of hope make him feel really out of place, but there were a couple of them that stand out to him, a couple looking as weird out as him, all in green.
When it was his turn, he stood up and walked slow to the chair the professor told him to sit. He closed his eyes and couldn´t look at the rest of students, so he looked down, hoping that everyone were more interested on the candles on the sky.
"So, really weird that a hat speaks, huh?"
Ah, crap. Really? Please get it over with, i´m done with this. Whatever you want, mate. Just please stop talking.
"Alright, i see some qualities that are quite...ambitious, it's clear to me that you want what you want. Slytherin!".
Well, it´s fine that a hat learns from your head things about you that you do not want to tell, but it´s necessary that EVERYONE gets to listen to this kind of psychology lesson? He´s glad that is over.
The people in green capes stood up so he assumed that he was supposed to walked there. So, the people from here are supposed to be like him? Is he here because of something? What does it mean that the rest of the colors looked at him with the most judging eyes he has ever seen...

Calista Dean stood, absorbed in a crowd of other first years, chatting with everyone who was around. The Great Hall was filled with anxious chatter, but all she could feel was the pounding of her own heartbeat. Calista had looked up to this moment for years, but as her turn rapidly approached, the weight of the moment felt too real.
Calista’s parents had both been Gryffindors, and their stories of bold expeditions and loyal friendships, always filled with pride, had made her hope that her time at Hogwarts would be equally as fun, if not more. And while her parents did hold pride in their house, Calista was thankful that they never pressured her to be in it. They told her to be herself. Whichever path she decided to take would be the right one. Even so, a shred of anxiety gripped at her.
“Dean, Calista!”
She jumped as her name echoed through the room, preparing herself. This was it for her. Smiling (though it felt a bit less natural than normal), and fixing her robes, she walked ahead, hoping her agitation would soon be put to rest. There was nothing to worry about.
On the stool sat the worn out Sorting Hat, its brim tilted. Sitting down, Calista felt the eyes of the entire school upon her. She closed her eyes and hoped for the best. Soon after, the hat was placed on her head.
“A Dean, I see. Haven’t seen one of you in quite some time… almost amusing.” The hat seemed to go quiet before continuing, “I can sense the passions flowing in your veins; a spark that is quite clear. With a heart full of compassion, you are bold, daring even- still…”
Calista felt a flutter of uncertainty. Did the Sorting Hat think she was meant to be in Gryffindor? And more importantly, did she believe?
“But bravery is not your only trait. There is something quieter but equally strong. A deep loyalty, a calm power that isn’t necessarily recognized by others.”
Almost as though the hat was pondering something unique to the current circumstances, its voice remained contemplative.
“You would surely fit Gryffindor…yet still, there is a different road where your kindness, your tolerance, and your inner will will be more encouraged. A way in which you perhaps might flourish.
As the hat continued speaking, its voice sang like a song she wasn’t able to identify. She felt her pulse quicken.
“Ravenclaw would indeed be your ideal as you are quite bright, but despite this, Huffepuff continues to stand out to me. Your compassion will expand in Hufflepuff. There you will find a house where you are accepted for who you are, not only what others hope you to be. There you are destined for greatness.”
The Hat stopped in silence before yelling out joyously, “HUFFLEPUFF!”
Relief hit hard. The stress she had failed to notice at first dissipated, and a real smile shined on her face. Standing up, she walked quickly over to the Hufflepuff table. The table welcomed her with applause, and the congratulations from her new housemates made her even more grateful than she was before.
Calista’s parents had been right to tell her it didn’t matter which house the hat called out. She had never felt she needed to live up to their legacy, never forced to be something she wasn’t. And her time at the Hufflepuff table truly showed her, she was where she was meant to be.
As her plate magically filled with food, she thought to herself. And despite how the room was lit up with laughter, a serene calmness was all Calista felt. There was no hurry here, just the hope of friendship, journey, and a fresh start.
The stories her parents told her were her childhood, but they were just the beginning of her life. There was so much more to come, and what was Calista if not ready?

Pettely couldn't contain his excitement any longer, he saw a great number of students sit on the stool, put on a talking hat, and wait for it to make an announcement. The announcement was about what particular house a student was in. All the houses had somewhat cool names that seemed to just roll off the tongue. Ravenclaw? Slytherin? Gryffindor? Hufflepuff? However, Pettely had to admit, Slytherin sounded the most attracting to him.
"Pettely Knots."
An old man whom Pettely didn't recognize called out loud. He didn't pronounce the name right. Pettely hated his name, he requested his parents to change it multiple times, nevertheless, they ignored him. Pettely didn't bother correcting the old man though, his mind was fully occupied at the momment by the excitement to go on the stage, and get sorted. He grinned as he imagined the roar of applause he would receive...sooner or later.
As the talking hat was put on to his head, Pettely felt... normal. I mean, nothing out of the ordinary, after all, it really was just a hat.
"Hmmmm..." The hat began. This sudden dialogue made Pettely flinch, startled.
"Oh! I can see that you are ambitious." The hat continued...
"Perhaps... Slytherin? "No, no, this isn't ambition. I have mistaken determination for ambition." "It is a bit of a SPITEFUL determination, I must say."
The hat paused for a few seconds than added,
"Nevertheless, it's still determination, I know it."
"Now, let me look deeper in to your heart, hmmmmm, I sense a great intellectual value."
"No, wait, you pretend to be intellectual. I have to disagree."
Pettely's cheek turned red. He thought he heared a few faint chuckles around the room, wheather it was just in his head, he did not know.
The sorting hat let out a little cough, indicating he wanted to move on.
"Let us continue, you are quite confident, but I am afraid it does not come from within the heart."
The hat did not talk for another minute. It did make some mutters, and grunts, but they were so faint that only the sorting hat itself understood. Soon after, it announced his final decision.
"I think you should be in..."
"Hufflepuff!"
A descent roar of applause rang around the Great hall, but Pettely didn't feel quite satisfied as his house was depicted. Nevertheless, he walked on to his table and joined the others.

The Sorting Hat was heavier than she expected. As it slid over her head, Syrah kept her hands still in her lap, eyes flicking briefly over the Great Hall before the brim dropped past her vision. The noise—the clinking silverware, the low murmurs, the occasional burst of laughter—faded into the background. The candlelight flickered against the high stone walls, illuminating the eager faces of the students watching her. Some looked bored, others excited, some were practically on the edge of their seats.
Syrah didn’t care where she ended up. House rivalries and traditions meant little to her—just categories people used to define themselves, as if they needed a color and a mascot to know who they were. It was all rather tedious.
Still, she supposed some houses would be more tolerable than others. Gryffindor was out of the question—too loud, too reckless, too full of people who thought bravery meant importance. Hufflepuff seemed exhausting, all warmth and camaraderie, which she doubted she could reciprocate. Ravenclaw? She wouldn’t mind it, but their obsession with intelligence for intelligence’s sake felt empty.
That left one option. She had no strong feelings about it, but she supposed she could work with it.
The Sorting Hat made its decision.
“SLYTHERIN!”
The cheers erupted, but Syrah barely reacted. She slid off the stool, brushing imaginary dust off her robes, and walked toward her new house’s table. The students greeted her with nods, a few smirks, and some evaluating glances. She met their eyes briefly before sitting down, resting her chin on her hand.
It was done. Now, she could focus on what actually mattered.

Maddison walked into the Great Hall with confidence. Well. Not that much confidence. She was just sure that she had confidence. With other first years, she watched the Headmaster speak and was as in awe as the others. Her sister used to tell her stories when she was in her own first year too. She watched as the ceremony started and first years were being called to the hat. She was praying not to enter Slytherin, since it's known to have a lot of Death Eaters and even Voldemort, himself, had passed from that lineage. She didn't freak. well. that was before she heard.
"Smith, Maddison."
At that point, she freaked in her mind but she gentily went up the stairs and sat on the stool, where the Sorting Hat was put on her head. "Ahh. Another Smith, Hm?" It said in her mind which made her think she was going crazy but then, she started to pray that she won't be in Slytherin.
"Hmm..Let's see. Brave. Kind. Tries to get good marks. Smart. Hm...I guess you would be in.... RAVENCLAW" The Sorting Hat said, finally, outloud which got some cheers from the Ravenclaw table. Even though, she was in Ravenclaw. She was going to try her best to make friends, in other houses, as well.
She strolled over to her table, getting a high-five from the Captain which made her blush in awe and sit down on an empty chair and starts to dig into food since it has appeared.

A Fate She Did Not Expect
Walking into the great hall shouldn't have amazed Valkyrie. She was a pureblood after all and from a high class Slytherin family. She had seen plenty of parties and spectacles of magic prior to arriving to Hogwarts. Yet, as she stepped foot into the great hall amongst the other first years she couldn't help but to stare in awe at all the wonderous sights around her. Starring up into the the night sky she realized she could spend hours looking at the sky without ever having to step foot outside.
As the first years were hustled to the front Valkyrie regained her composure, or at least as well as an eleven year old can, and focused on the Headmaster as he gave his introduction speech. She tried paying attention, but all the different sights around her easily drew her eyes away from Headmaster Lear to take in everything around her. It wasn't until a ratty old hat began to sing did she look back to the front of the room. Valkyrie stood completely still, listening to the hat's song. "It's almost time." she muttered to herself as the singing drew to an end.
The names seemed to draw on forever before "VALKYRIE SKANDUL!" rang in her ears signaling her turn. She felt the excitement and nervousness coursing through her veins as well as a few eyes from those who recognized her family name. As soon as Valkyrie sat on the stool the sorting hat was placed upon her head nearly falling below her eyes. She didn't really mind it as all of her thoughts were on her family and the legacy they had left her. She knew where she wanted to be. Where her parents wanted her to be. The only question now was where would the hat place her?
"Another Skandul aye? I see ambition, but also great loyalty." the hat spoke gently almost as if it was muttering to itself. Valkyrie barely had time to process what was being implied by that little statement before the hat bellowed "Better be... HUFFLEPUFF!"
Almost in a trance, Valkyrie walked over to the Hufflepuff table where everyone had erupted in cheers and claps.
Hufflepuff? How can that be?
