If all her duels were going to start like this then why did Emily even bother getting her hopes up when it came to the first spell. Her attempts at throwing Tracey off with her Obscuro were unsuccessful, but the plan between her team wasn't a total disaster! Minnie managed to land a superb hit with her Flipendo, earning her an impressed wink from Emily.

At least the first round wasn't a total bust!

"EMMMMIIIIII!!!"

“Yeah! Let’s go Emmy!! You got this!”

Emily whipped her head around at the sound of those all too familiar hollers. Her face brightened instantly when she spotted Colin bouncing up and down in his spot amongst the crowd. With him were Brookline and that cutie patootie First Year girl, cheering alongside him.

Emily acknowledged them appreciatively with an enthusiastic wave, feeling warm and fuzzy to be cheered on like that before switching her focus back on to the match at hand.

Now that she had an audience, she had to make extra-doubly-mega sure her casting was on point. It wouldn't be a very good image if she failed to cast a spell in a duelling match!

12:30-13:30 on Sunday, 9th of February, 2025...

The next round was in Ravenclaw’s favor when it came to the number of spells that hit their targets. They had continued on with their strategy of focusing only on one of their opponents, firing a double Flipendo which had successfully sent Emily into a world of pain. Flipendo has always been one of the most popular spells even as you grow older and learn new spells. Its sheer force drew a lot of people’s attention, especially in the duelling scenes. So when those spells hit, Raizel could almost feel how painful it was, and Emily was hit twice. The birds did have their moment of blunder though with Tracey failing to cast her own spell. What might have caused that, she doesn’t know. Those quick movements of hers must have taken a toll on her casting abilities, especially when she had been dodging spells after spells since the beginning.

Hufflepuff had done well last round despite only one of them managing to get a hit in on one of the birds. That was a lot better than missing all of those spells. This time, however, their luck had run out. Minnie and Costanza missed their target, Tracey proving to be too slippery for them to hit her and in a way, that had amused Raizel. It was entertaining to watch her move out of the way, the spells simply passing by her and eventually disappearing into nothingness. Emily was the lucky one this time. She had redeemed herself this time for the missed shot at the beginning of the duel although her spell didn’t fully hit its target. Maisie tried to dodge the Obscuro that was going for her but still, she found her eyes wrapped with a blindfold but it was not enough to completely blind her. She could still see through it but it was difficult.

No one is down yet, duellists are still looking great, Emily included.

Amid all the Hufflepuff cheers, there was one that for Maisie remained constant and that was Avis: “C’mon Birds! Keep going!” For a brief second, she looked up at the crowd in response, eager to make eye contact with her best friend and moral support. She offered her a little wave in reply.

And it was perhaps in that single moment that she saw the blindfold moving straight in her direction, just not quite in enough time to fully move out of the way. So, the blindfold wrapped itself around the top of her head, but just loose enough that she could slightly see through it. Still, she flailed around slightly in the seconds that it happened.

But once she got her bearings, she could see. She saw Tracey deftly dodge multiple attacks (though her spell didn't quite manifest) and the spells from both Yougle and herself squarely hit their intended. By the looks of it, this was going to be a long duel in which just about anything could happen. With a breath, she tried to prepare herself for whatever was to come.

It has been pointed out that the calculation for Yougle's Flipendo has a mistake and indeed, it was. The +2 on Arc Power wasn't calculated, thinking that it was part of the 6. Edits had been made. Yougle's Flipendo did 220 dmg on Emily, putting her hp down to 390 (56%) and Hufflepuff''s hp to 1850 (88%)

Yahoo! The blindfolding spell worked and the birdie buddy's eyes were now covered. That ought to buy her and the other badgers some time while they chipped away at their efforts.

But before Emily could celebrate her first successful cast, she was suddenly flung backwards across the piste by not one, but two knockback jinxes. Well now... Didn't that just bring back lovely memories to last season's match.

Emily laid there on the ground, processing what happened.

"Ow."

She got back up and dusted herself off. Those two hits would be the birdies' last!
