What the heck was this garbage? "Pick On Emily" Day?? For a practice match - with an essence of a soft rematch on the side - there was not much practicing going on at Emily's end of the piste.

First, Emily's spell backfired and she lost her wand. Then, she gets lit on fire by Sere's conveniently brilliant casting. Now, Emily was blindfolded! It's almost as if Sere didn't want Emily to have a chance at landing a blow.

Oh. Actually... That was the whole point of duelling, wasn't it? Still!

Just as she felt she could finally breathe and get back on track for a comeback to this match, Emily groaned the minute her eyes were clouded over with the blindfold that wrapped itself around her. There was a solid minute where she just stood there at her end of the piste, unimpressed with the current situation. The same trick was pulled last time during their official match. It might not have been the first time this had happened but that wasn't to say Emily liked it when it happened either.

"Clever trick, Sere... Real clever..." Third round in and Emily's tone was already dripping in defeat.

"Cheap" was a better word. Well, what's done is done. All Emily could do now was move forward and take care of the circumstances she was in now.

This wasn't how she pictured this to go but she wasn't ready to give up just yet.

Such a smart move from Emily. Sere admitted it. She had never thought about a spell called Extinguo. Sere didn't remember how many times she let the Incendio flame burn her until the effect wore off on its own. She would remember the Extinguishing Spell well from now on.

A spell that Sere would cast was another 'who knows how many times she already casted it': The Blindfolding Spell, Obscuro. Sere wasn't sure if Emily still remembered that this spell was the beginning of her knocked out during the last Fall Games. The Gryffindor girl still remembered that moment clearly and intended to practice The Blindfolding Spell once more. She pointed her wand and casted, "Obscuro!"

It worked. She could see Emily's eyes covered by a cloth that suddenly appeared from behind her head. Sere bit her lip and narrowed her eyes, Am I taking this practice too serious? Then she shook her head. No no, I told her that I need her help. It would be fine. It supposed to. The girl took a deep breath, didn't know Emily's intention behind the word 'clever', wondering whether it had double meaning. She hoped Emily wouldn't take this too serious. Sere weighed up a few possibilities before looking at the Badgers with her sharp eyes, focused on her next action.

This duel truly wasn't going in Emily favour, first she had been set on fire and had to remove the flames as to try and save herself from being burned, now she had been blindfolded and had to try and get the offending piece of cloth removed from her eyes in time to try and evade the next incoming spell.

Now unfortunately, or fortunately depending on who you were, Emily didn't stand a chance. Sere had seen the opening that blindfolding her opponent had caused and took full advantage of it, throwing a near perfect flipendo at her duelling partner and fully hitting her.

Mylo winced as they felt the impact of the spell, and the worst part is that Emily couldn't have even seen it coming so couldn't have prepared for the spell to hit her. At least that's what Mylo thought as they remembered being pummelled with spells while blindfolded themselves. They didn't mind the spell hitting them, it was part of the game, they despised not knowing what was coming their way though and if there even were spells coming their way.

Both duellists still seemed upright though, Emily finally not under any other effects but seeming hurt and Sere seeming to have only been slightly hurt. Wondering what they would see next Mylo let the duel continue.

Sere saw an opportunity to deal immediate damage, so without thinking the Gryffindor girl casted am offensive spell, the Knockback Jinx, on Emily. The spell successfully knocked her back a few distance from where she was. She frowned, once again feeling bad about her choice but had to do it anyway. "I hope you can still stand on your feet, Em." She wanted to check on the Badger, but she didn't know whether her statement was taken as a form of concern or a challenge.

Sere thought about what she would do next. She wasn't sure. If she was on a duelling team, she would have received initial input as well as advices from her teammates. Sere just realized how important teammates were in a duel. She could be sure of every action only if she had strategized it together with her teammates. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that she knew what her teammates were thinking just by their eyes meeting. She realized that she really needed her duelling mates and because she was on a good team she was able to win the Fall Games.

However, individual strategy was also very important, especially in the final moments of the duel, if she could survive that long. This practice duel must be useful for training her personal strategy. With that belief, Sere gripped her wand tightly, already deciding on the action she would take.

Ughhhh...

With the blindfolded finally yanked off her face, Emily felt she could take a quick second to recollect herself. Only just barely. Maybe a swift intake of breath, only to be forced out of her when a Flipendo hit her chest and sent her halfway back across the piste. Emily landed on her back harshly. She had been Flipendo'd plenty of times during her first match with Sere and her team, but she never felt one as strong as this before. Either Sere was going about this duel like it was her last - which was already overkill - or she had gotten stronger since last time.

Emily didn't have the patience left to accept whatever reasoning was behind it. She flopped to the side with a groan before slinking her body back upright again. Did Sere really need help at this point practicing? Emily was close to needing help just to get back on her feet again!

"So long as my legs can balance my weight, we're not done," she answered bravely. Always finish what you start, even if you don't like how the journey's going.

Something about this match will turn it around in Emily's favour. Her gut feeling was refusing to give in negatively. She just had to take a few more hits to find out how that miracle would look, and when.

Emily seemed to have changed up her strategy, after having taken off her blindfold so that she could see this time round she focussed on trying to evade the next spell aimed at her by her opponent Sere.

And it was a very good thing that she did so, as if she hadn't she would likely have seen her wand go flying over the piste for a second time this duel. Cause although the spell had seemed to leave Sere's wand without a hitch showing some great skill in casting it, Mylo really needed to learn the spell they thought to themselves, Emily showed that it doesn't matter how great you can cast if the other people can dodge better then it's no use.

Maybe they needed to practice more with moving targets, see how he can anticipate what his opponents were going to do and learn how to react quicker to small movements.

Turning themselves back to the two duellists before them Mylo focussed their attention on them, wondering what they would do next as he checked in with both students and let the duel continue curious as to what kind of spells they'd see flying about, or tactics they'd see used in the next round.

Emily really ought to adopt defence a lot more often when it came to duelling. First time round, she blocked every Flipendo and Incendio with her arms or her face. To strategically move her body away from incoming missiles and actively dodge Sere's attacks was a new feeling, but man was it glorious!

It was weird. First instinct would dictate that one would move away from oncoming targets anyway, especially when they posed a threat. Then again, Emily was a deer in headlights when it came to danger. She was a soft soul, bless her. Danger wasn't synonymous with her. Maybe that's what made her a prime target on the piste.

Emily exhaled in relief as sparks from Sere's wand sailed past her when she ducked out of the way. Not every fight had to be picked and Emily certainly wasn't looking to pick another one with whatever fire spell, sparks or jinx Sere planned to deliver her. Three in a row was more than enough, thank you!

Repositioning herself on the piste, Emily was now at a crossroads. She loved the feel of dodging, but she couldn't keep it up forever. Her next move would be a toss up on how to proceed.

One more action that Sere almost forgot: actively dodging. She certainly didn't expect Emily to choose this action. The Expelliarmus she released missed, just by a very small gap from where the target should have been. Sere was sure that if Emily didn't choose that action, she would have been able to hit the Hufflepuff squarely. "That was a nice one." Sere smiled slightly, still with her sharp gaze. She would note this: the possibility that her official opponent will dodge, and will also prepare the best preventive for that. As far as she could remember, there was a lubricant-kinda spell or something that could be the solution. She would find and learned that thoroughly later.

One more good point that she could take from this unofficial duel. Sere hoped that Emily could also take some things from this practice to use in her official duel. Of course, if she didn't have to face Emily in the next duel, the Gryffindor girl would sincerely hope for the victory of the girl in front of her right now. After all, Emily was closer to 'someone she would like' than 'someone she wouldn't like'.

Okay, back to the duel. Halfway through the game. The main goal is to win the competition, but leaving the piste conscious is also an achievement to be reckoned with. At this point, an action was already locked in her mind. Focus, Sere. You can do this.

As new spells were traded between the two duellists before him it seemed like things were starting to turn around.

Sere fired off a nasty, but very effective, curse towards Emily meant to give Sere a very good advantage on her next spell. And although it was performed with mastery, Sere casting at near perfection, Emily seemed to see it coming from miles away. Managing to avoid the oncoming onslaught without seemingly having to even break a sweat.

Sere on the other hand wasn't as lucky, as the opposite happened on her end. It seemed like Emily had picked up on a trick that Sere herself had used earlier in the duel and had decided to turn her own tactics against her.

As Emily cast the spell it seemed to Mylo like Sere had maybe been distracted by her own spell as she had no chance at avoiding the disarming charm, making Sere's wand fly right out of her hand, ending up somewhere on the piste. This wasn't good for her in the slightest, she'd have to have a proper look for it in a second.

Having a look at both duellists Mylo truly wasn't sure who was going to be the winner, Sere had seemed to have the upper hand in the beginning but things were starting to look in Emily's favour.

Ah-ha! Finally! Emily managed to catch Sere out with a successful spell of her own. No more blindfolds, blunders and blow backs this round! The ball was in Emily's court now!

Emily jerked her body quick enough to dodge Sere's jinx and retaliate with a disarming charm. Emily's fingers curled round her wand tight when she casted it, like it was going to be the last time she was ever going to hold her wand. It probably could've been had Sere been successful this round.

The disarming charm proved Emily's patience as an underdog well and Sere's wand was flicked out of her hand, rolling across the piste when it hit the ground below. But there was no time for celebration yet! Emily had been battered around like a fish-stick for most the duel so far. It was about time Sere got some form of her own medicine now that Emily had the upper hand for what could be about ten seconds before she would miss the opportunity to strike back.

The question now though, was how Emily would dish out some pay back to Sere. Her Gryffindor rival was a strong gun after all. And there was still ample time for Emily's wand to say "sod it" and give up on her.

A quick idea popped into Emily's head and she nodded to herself. Time to cast while she still could!
