2024/25, Stage 2 Gryffindor V Ravenclaw: Match 8

In more normal circumstances, Edwin may have celebrated his spell striking it's target, even if it hadn't quite landed as cleanly as he may have hoped, but within a beat of his spell landing, he could see a flash of sparks striking one of his teammates out of the corner of his eye. He spared a brief glance back, ensuring that she was still standing. He began to turn back to facing his opposition, before whirling back around to look at Ula, who had broke out into a dance. "Hardly seems appropriate at this time." He drawled, before finally turning back to the Ravenclaws, his grip tightening around his wand.

Fortunately, Meiyu had not been targeted, almost feeding into the sense of pride she had along with the sheer luck for her first match. The two Ravens foolishly opting to target the pride of Gryffindor, Ula; a brazen move, one that would not come without consequence. Glaring at the girl aflame, Avis, who attempted to console the reincarnation of The Last Airbender, standing as though she was petrified only caused Meiyu to giggle at the entire scene.

Steadying her wand, she was prepared once more, to take revenge, in the beautiful girls honour.

Silva winced. Why did it always seem to go this way, she wondered. I stand here fine while my friends get beat up. First the red caps now this. Avis had gotten hit by 3 different spells! How was she even standing! But it made sense that they'd target her. Avis was the only one who'd managed to hit a spell despite Silva's near perfect Verdimillious. She'd been quite proud of it yet it had amounted to nothing as the Gryffindor easily dodged. She turned to her last teammate, Yolanda, to see how she'd gotten on in the first round. She was surprised to see that her friend hadn't appeared to have moved. She frowned. Was Yolanda secretly planning something else? She hoped so because otherwise they were down a teammate.

12:30 on Saturday 8th February, 2025...

This duel was shaping up in more exciting ways then Prat could've anticipated. The entirely new ravenclaw team was faring greatly amidst the chaos of the duel, nonetheless the gryffindors held up their side too.

Soon spells began flying and once again the ravens had decided on Ula being their target of choice, the poor girl was already dancing and was then with with a Curse of bogies, now having to ballet while feeling nauseous. In Addition Prat could only imagine her suffering as mucus not only blurred her vision but also was now beginning to buildup. These new duellists sure were ruthless. Ula attempted to turn fates back to her side as attempted to flipendo a raven duellist, only for all the spells acting on her to ruin her chances.

Her spell backfired and sent her flying away, OOF, was all Prat felt as he looked at her pitiful state. Edwin and meiyu had better luck however, with meiyu managing to land an incendio on Silva while Edwin's flipendo landed so far away from Avis, he might as well be playing a completely different sport.

The twist of the game came when Yolanda's incendio was so misaimed she ended up accidentally attacking her own teammates, were it not for the exceptional dodging skills shown by Avis, she'd feeling the burns of another incendio, this time however from her own teammate.

Silva nearly jumped up and down with excitement. She'd hit someone! With the Curse of the Bogies! She grinned around in so much excitement that she forgot to pay attention and quickly got her reward for that as a blast of heat swept over her. She stared at herself in shock. Pay more attention next time, she chided herself. The rest of her team appeared to be fine. Avis had wisely taken the safe route and had easily dodged a spell. Wait. Was that... Yolanda... She stared in shock as Yolanda's attempt at a spell backfired and instead went towards Avis. Thankfully Avis was clearly at the top of her game despite her injuries and easily dodged. The only other attack was from the other team and.... uh oh.... the older Gryffindor girl went flying backwards. That's gotta hurt. At least her whole team appeared to be still standing and mostly OK aside from Avis. She really was glad that Yolanda just had something on her mind and was still good to duel.

Meiyu's ego only continued to boost with the success of her second spell, hitting the Asian Raven perfectly, serves them all right for attacking the beauty and grace that was Ula Takahashi. Although, it was becoming rather evident what the opposition's plan of action was, targeting Ula twice in a row rather the only man on the piste. Vengeance will fall as long as Meiyu still stood, standing proudly on the piste with a smirk, wand at the ready.

The relative success of his first spell was a short lived joy, the second spell that he had slung in the direction of the dark haired girl missing by an impressive margin. Evidently, his team mates display of her ballet capabilities had been enough to throw Edwin for a loop, followed by her rather unfortunate self assault. He hadn't the time to dwell on that, however, simply shaking off his momentary lapse in concentration, raising his wand once more.
