This was bad. No, it was absolutely terrible. All Lilianna wanted to do was have a bit of fun with the caretaker, but now they were chasing her with a broom. It wasn't her fault that they couldn't take a joke. It was some of her best work yet, she had enchanted their bucket to drain every time they weren't looking; but the caretaker didn't seem to like that and was now chasing her through what felt like the entire school.

She dashed through corridor after corridor, desperately trying to shake them. Eventually, she found herself in the West tower, where she paused for a moment after a genius idea came to her, before hearing the caretaker yell and running off again.

There were two places worth remembering in the West tower, the Ravenclaw common room and the owlery. It was impossible for her to get into the Ravenclaw common room, so that was out of the question. That meant her best option was to hide in the owlery.

Her mind was made up, with a quick glance behind her she dashed forward. Past confused students and upset teachers, further and further until she could feel the cold September air. The tower was in her sights, and the caretaker seemed to be far enough away.

She ran into the building, up the stairs, past dozens of owls. Until she saw a single Ravenclaw handing a letter to an owl. She slid to a stop in front of her before saying " Hi, the caretaker is going to be here in a moment. Please don't tell them I'm here, they're really angry." Leaving the student just as quickly, she jumped into a nearby pile of straw.

Delilah went up to the Owlery once every week to send a letter to her parents back home in Dublin. She usually wrote the letters over the course of the week and then sent them, like a little diary entry except someone would be reading it.

It was usually quiet in the Owlery, no other sounds the the hooting of the owls, but today was very different. As Delilah tied her letter onto the usual school owl, she heard someone pounding up the steps like their life depended on it.

Eyebrows furrowed, she turned her head and looked to the door. She waited to see who - or what - came bursting through the doors. All the blonde saw was a flash of yellow robes, running across the room.

"Hi, the caretaker is going to be here in a moment. Please don't tell them I'm here, they're really angry." was all Delilah heard before the Hufflepuff continued to run and hide.

Delilah bit her lip roughly, now hearing who she assumed to be the caretaker running up the steps. After being interrogated about if a student had come up, the first year quickly said no and shook her head. She could see the caretaker sizing her up, seeing if she was lying, but she just simply gave them a friendly smile and watched them make their way down the stairs.

As soon as she was certain the coast was clear, she turned around. "They're gone, you can come out!" she said softly, a small laugh escaping her lips. "Did something exciting happen?" She asked, giggling softly.

Her heart was pounding. All she had to protect her from the caretakers wrath was some itchy straw and a Ravenclaw that she had never met. She hoped that the girl was kind, not wanting to know what it's like to get hit with a mouldy old broom.

The sound of footsteps forced her from her thoughts. It seemed like the caretaker finally caught up with her. She burrowed deeper into the straw before they arrived on the right floor.

She couldn't see what was happening in this hiding spot, but hopefully that ment other people couldn't see her. A voice cut through the silence, the caretaker was interrogating a person who Lilianna assumed was the Ravenclaw that she saw. They were asking her if she had seen Lillianna.

Ha. The Ravenclaw was covering for her, she denied ever seeing her. This was brilliant, if this worked then she would have gotten herself out of detention.

There was silence for a moment before the sound of footsteps could be heard once again.
She held her breath as she waited for any sign that it was safe. All she heard were footsteps until a voice called out "They're gone, you can come out!" She let out a sigh of relief as she began pulling herself from the pile. Plucking straw from her robes, she lifted her head as the blonde haired Ravenclaw continued, "Did something exciting happen? "

Oh... This girl was interesting, she helped a complete stranger and didn't want to send her away afterwards. She smiled, walked to the girls side and responded "all I did was pull a small prank, their bucket looked too full so I put a little charm on it that would make it drain. But they completely overreacted." She laughed as she recalled the events of the last hour.

"My name's Lili by the way." She paused for moment, heart still racing. "Oh, and thanks."

Delilah let out a deep breath as the caretaker left the Owlery. The blonde had never been a good liar, but she felt as if she should try to make friends with her fellow first years regardless of what house they were in.

"All I did was pull a small prank, their bucket looked too full so I put a little charm on it that would make it drain. But they completely overreacted." The Hufflepuff explained to her, causing a smile to break out on the blonde's lips. She even let out a small giggle and shook her head. "Oh yes, completely." Delilah smiled, looking at the girl who introduced herself as Lili.

"You're welcome." Delilah told her, nodding. "I was just sending an owl to my parents." She explained. She missed them like crazy. She missed her little cottage home in Dublin. Britain wasn't all that different to Ireland; the weather was the same and a lot of the customs were similar. It wasn't home, though.

She gave a sad little smile and then attached the letter to one of the school owls. She gave the bird a small pat and then watched as it hopped out the window, taking flight easily and gliding through the air.
