Gryffindor!!!
Clarke was shaking. She was really nervous to be sorted into her house. It was either Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Slytherin, or Ravenclaw. She didn't know which one she wanted to be in, she just hoped that it would be the right one. Those with the last names starting with 'A' went first. The B's, then the C's and so on until they got to the R's.
"Remmington, Clarke!" called the headmaster. Clarke walked up to the stool upon which the sorting hat lay. She looked at it for a moment, taking in the wrinkles and rips of the many years of use. Then she sat down and put the hat on her head. The hat reached below her ears and she couldn't see anything through the darkness. The a voice came out from a hat.
"Hmm...interesting. What a character you have. Quite the sneaky one evidently lots of practise. You could do well in Slytherin. But you also have a heart that wants to learn and explore new things. Ravenclaw could use you well. You are just like all who go in Hufflepuff are. But, what is most curious is that though you have an anxious heart, you are very brave and try your best to succeed despite that."
Clarke was very nervous. 'Not Slytherin,' she thought, then she reflected, 'don't most people wish to be placed in any house except Slytherin?'
"It's true, it's true. I've heard it many times. 'Not Slytherin, anything but Slytherin, please!' Yet, I know you would not do well in Slytherin. You need something better suited towards your other personality traits, for example, your anxious but brave heart."
"Gryffindor," the hat shouted into the Great Hall. Clarke stood up and placed the hat back onto the stool. Then she looked around and saw the Gryffindor table. It was hard to miss-all the students in Gryffindor were cheering and whistling. She walked over to where they sat and sat down as well. She said hi to her seat mates and looked at her food. Piles upon piles of food covered the table, it seemed endless.
Clarke knew that it was going to be a good year and she couldn't wait to get started.

Gryffindor!!!
Felix clapped as he saw another student get sorted into Gryffindor. "Should I go to her and introduce myself to her? I'm a new student, too, and it wouldn't hurt to get to know a new friend, " he thought to himself, debating whether or not he would introduce himself to her.
After a few minutes of thinking and munching mindlessly of his food, he decided to introduce himself to the new girl.
"H-hi! I-I'm Felix. A G-Gryffindor t-t-too!" He said nervously. He started to sweat from his anxiety. Why is he being anxious? He's just introducing himself, not being called to answer a question in class. He tried smiling it, faking his anxiety but alas, it didn't work and made him even more anxious
"Oh no. Why did I stutter? I was just going to introduce myself. I should be happy that I'll meet someone new." He thought and mumbled to himself, trying to hide his embarrassment after his stuttering. He gave his hand to the girl and waited if she's going to shake his hand as well. He did various subtle breathing exercise her mom used to teach to calm himself, hoping it would work and not get embarrassed in front of her.

Gryffindor!!!
Phew, this boy was as nervous as her. She no longer felt alone. He put out his hand and Clarke took it. She blushed and looked down. Then she remembered that she was supposed to introduce her self as well.
"Hello, I'm Clarke. Clarke Remmington. I'm so nervous. Have do you have any siblings here? I don't. My brother, Tripp, told me all about it but he left Hogwarts before I came. I'm so excited to start classes. I wonder which ones we have this year," Clarke rambled. She smiled, up at Felix. She noticed the scar on his face and wondered how he got it. She looked away quickly, though, for fear of him being uncomfortable with her staring at it. She used to know a girl who was very self-conscious about how people looked at her. The girl had a scar on her face as well but it was much worse. Clarke had made her cry a lot because every time Clarke looked at her for a second, the girl took it the wrong way. Eventually, she left the school because she couldn't bear it anymore. Clarke did not mind, though, because she did not like the all the drama the girl created.

Gryffindor!!!
Felix noticed that she was nervous, and he smiled subtly, knowing that he wasn't the only one nervous about being a first-year here.
"Unfortunately, I don't. My little sister is 9 years old, so she's still young to be in Hogwarts. I'm hoping she'll be in Gryffindor when she gets sorted in a few years. I'm also excited for classes too! Wouldn't mind tagging along with you and don't worry, I'm not lazy... I guess." He scratched his head and smiled at Clarke. He tends to be lazy but would often push himself to achieve his goals
Felix noticed Clarke looking away from him and he assumed that she was looking at his scar and he didn't mind sharing a bit about it.
"Oh, don't worry about the scar. I've gotten used to it anyway. It's a reminder for me to not open mindlessly hexed objects in my household." He laughed to lighten the mood and atmosphere.

Gryffindor!!!
Clarke laughed with him. "I would be cool with you tagging along, but only if you help me not get lost. Tripp has been telling me that one can get lost just from going from one class to the next. I don't want that to happen. Though," Clarke said after a pause, "he might have been just pulling my leg to make me scared to come here."
Clarke looked down the table and pulled a bun from a stack. She buttered part of it and ate it. She put the rest of her bun down but just then the dinner food disappeared being replaced by dessert.
Shrugging, Clarke took some pudding and a small cake. It was beyond anything she had ever tasted. She had gone to many wizard cafes but nothing compared to what she tasted in the Great Hall. The light and fluffy cake melted in her mouth and the pudding was as smooth as one could get it. She took another small cake and ate it.
Then the headmaster stood up and addressed the students. After his speech, the students started leaving the Great Hall, first years with their prefects and then the rest of the students.
Out on the stairs, Clarke was amazed at how big the place was. And the stairs moved! It was a good thing that they had a prefect with them otherwise they would still be looking for their common room the next day.
