Not So Meaningless After All...
Boredom. Absolute boredom. Was he really only halfway through History of Magic class? Joseph stifled a yawn, his head propped against a hand as his quill slipped out from his fingers, rolling off the desk. He didn't even bother to give it a glance. Before him lay the half-hearted mess of his notes, now a living testament to his growing frustration for the pointless class.
Well, you couldn't fault him for not trying - at least, at the start of the lesson. The first few lines of his notes were legible, respectable even, with painstakingly written strokes and curls. But sad to say, it ended there. Over the course of the lesson, his notes had degraded into something more abominable, more untidy. Those at the bottom of the parchment looked more like a terrible sketch of a chaotic war than key take-aways from a lesson for First Years.
Wait. Sketch. Joseph's eyes lit up briefly, flickering over to the parchment before him. Why hadn't he thought of that before? What better way to kill time than to practice a little drawing? Okay, he wasn't exactly a skilled artist, but at this point anything that could keep him engaged until the end of the lesson would be very welcome indeed.
Fetching his fallen quill - finally worth the effort - he dipped it into his inkwell, a grin tugging at the corner of his mouth as he tried to recall the artistic advice Nellie had given him on the Hogwarts Express over a year ago. What was he going to draw? Goblins? Gargoyles? Joseph grimaced slightly, shaking his head. The last thing he needed was a reminder of the dull lesson he was helplessly confined in.
His gaze drifted across the room, searching for inspiration. Nothing. The classroom was lifeless as ever - dull stone walls, musty air and the professor's somehow monotonous yet at the same time irritatingly cheerful voice in the background.
Joseph sighed and let his eyes wander to his classmates instead, most of whom were either scribbling furiously on their respective scrolls or trying desperately to stay awake just like him. If only there was some way for him to interact with them...
Shaking the thought out of his head, Joseph tapped his fingers against his desk, pursing his lips. Welp. If nothing else, hopefully his sketching skills might improve before the lesson ended. Hopefully. That is, if he ever found anything interesting to even attempt drawing.

Not So Meaningless After All...

┏ History of Magic. Also known as boredom. Since the beginning of her first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Lyanna had never liked that class much. It wasn't as if she wasn't interested, but... she just didn't have the motivation to listen to--what was the topic now? Witch hunts or something? Well, the fact that she didn't even know the topic said enough.
Doodling on a bit of parchment that was supposed to be for notes, she quickly checked her watch. Only half of the hour had passed?! It felt like the end of at least twice the amount of time a normal class took. Despite her boredom though, Lyanna was actually trying to take notes and listen to what professor Lennox said, but the words just came out fuzzy, like a bird trying to call out to someone that was too far away.
Wait, timeout. The word struck her like a lightning bolt. Bird, or better said, note-passing! And this time, the bird wouldn't be too far away. Scanning the classroom for another person as bored as she was, Lyanna saw a boy, probably another Hufflepuff by the looks of it, looking around the classroom. Nobody, except Lyanna of course, looked more bored than him. The brilliant idea that she'd thought of mindlessly just moments ago, came in action as she grabbed another piece of parchment and started writing.
Hey,
By the looks of it I'm not the only one bored to death in history of magic class. Just thought you might wanna pass the time sending some notes;)
Are you drawing something by the way? What is it?
-Lya
Perfect. As soon as their prof looked away, she aimed her magical paper airplane and threw it swiftly, unnoticed. Watching the paper soar low over the classroom floor, it reached the boy's desk, flew up, and hit him square in the face. Wicked, she thought, just as professor Lennox turned back around and continued her lecture completely unaware of what had just happened. ┛

Not So Meaningless After All...
Joseph pouted, dragging his undipped quill against his parchment in a scraggy, uneven line. The tip of the quill caught on the paper, tearing a tiny hole. Brilliant. As if paying attention to History of Magic wasn't hard enough, now his creativity seemed to have evaporated with every single bit of patience left in him. Was it possible for a lesson to be so dry that it sucked the life out of his brain?
Thump.
His thoughts were abruptly cut off by something smacking him on the forehead, crumpling on impact and fluttering down to the desk. It was small paper plane, one he identified at once - one of those magical paper airplanes sold at Hogsmeade.
What on earth- Joseph blinked, his mind a whirlwind of questions. Who did that? Why? What did they want? He fumbled for an answer as he straightened in his seat, a hand hovering tentatively over the paper airplane, unsure whether to inspect it or fling it back.
His eyes darted around the room, in desperate search for the culprit. And then he saw her.
A girl, blonde hair cascading over her shoulders, sitting a few desks away. She seemed rather tall for a first year, and her gaze met his with an almost knowing intensity. Her brownish, almond shaped eyes watched him closely, as if waiting to see his reaction.
So, this was how it was going to be. A mischievous smirk curled on Joseph's lips as he returned his gaze to the paper airplane, raising an eyebrow as he noted a parchment containing writing in it - no, not just writing. It was a message from Ms Hit-you-in-the-face-with-paper-airplane. Unfolding the letter, Joseph's eyes scanned the message scrawled inside, chuckling to himself a little. The handwriting was neat but hurried, as though it was written with a sense of urgency - or excitement.
"Lya," Joseph muttered, reading the girl's name off the parchment, a grin etched onto his face. Whoever this Lya was, she seemed to be into note-passing, and for whatever reason she had selected Joseph as her target, he wasn't complaining. Maybe this History of Magic class wouldn't be so boring, after all.
With renewed energy, Joseph picked up his quill again, scribbling down a quick note on the same parchment before fitting it into slightly crumpled paper airplane. Then as discreetly as possible, Joseph launched the airplane at Lya, silently hoping it hit her in the face too.
ReducioOOC: The letter for reference I guess:Hi!!
Oh, good to know I'm not the only one about to die of boredom here.
Well, haven't started drawing anything yet, can't quite think of any ideas right now. D'you have any perchance? (:
-Joseph
