Dale had been to the abandoned toilets only once more, and for a very similar reason, to collect rust. Rust, or iron oxide, had many applications in making thermite. Thermite had fascinated Dale ever since he was a child. His father had taught him how to make the mixture when he turned 10 since then Dale had made the mixture many times behind his parent's backs. He knew he would be a huge amount of trouble if his parents found out, but his mother had always told him, a bit of troublemaking builds character.
Last time he had been in the bathrooms his thermite had been not only weak, but he had gotten the formula entirely wrong, he thought he could substitute aluminum foil for aluminum powder, oh how wrong he was, instead of causing a grand spectacle of flames, it let out a weak explosion as the iron oxide met more oxygen. The explosion had alerted a fellow student named Elena, at first she thought he was a person named Kae, who had apparently blow up the bathrooms before. But Dale had done more research over the summer on how to make good thermite with such restrictions. He had no access to aluminum powder he had made his own at school, getting aluminum foil was as easy as asking, he then cut it up as small as he could. He then had to grind it up using a mortar and pestle, or in his case, a rock and stolen bowl.
The next step was getting iron oxide, easy, iron oxide was just rust. He wished he could make a more grand flame using more exotic metals, but sadly, getting those metals would be impossible for him, but the thought of making thermate was still in his head. But for not Dale sat on the floor of the abandoned toilets filing away at the rust that had accumulated on the exposed pipes of the sink. The rust fell into a plastic bag situated upon the floor. This time he decided he would not make any dumb mistakes.

The abandoned bathrooms, usually home to one or two students. It wasn't really abandoned, after all. It was a great place to meet up, a great place to hang out with a friend or do something secretive, something not allowed. But for Kaegen, it was going to be empty. The rooms were always empty for him, everything opened wide or closed tight for the boy, and this bathroom was one of the things that opened wide.
They could feel him coming, he knew they could. They could feel his presence long before they saw him, and they feared it. They feared the boy rightly, they heard the stories, the legendary exploits of the one called Kaegen. Although they just referred to him as the monster. The monster you could feel before you could see. Shadows writhed like living things, torches flickered and the temperature dropped, accompanied by a chilling draft.
So when he entered the room and saw a little boy collecting rust, his confusion was evident, and extremely brief. Hate immediately flared at a student who dared exist. He wasn't allowed to exist here, not in Kaegen's world. Kaegen was a god, something so much better than those who fled before him. Those who actually fled. They ran and cried, they stared at the shadows by his feet, felt the tangible waves of hate and left as fast as they could.
"Who are you, and why are you gathering rust."
He was small, skinny. Black robe a few sizes too big, frayed and fading. His hair was a much darker shade of black, tangled and messy, falling down to frame his two stormy blueish grey eyes, complete with a menacing red ring around the pupils. A red ring that seemed to glow and burn and flare like the rays of two bloodthirsty suns. His skin was beyond white, touching grey. It was sallow and clammy and thin and dead. The corpse of a ghost of a boy, complete with soft grey scarf, blue and black cape and long umbrella-staff hybrid.
The very tips of his long, thin fingers poked out from the long sleeves, dirty dull claws sporting dried blood. The light in the room fled from the boy, and the darkness gathered around him, shadows twisting and churning with a manic fury.

Dale ironed out his gray polo and blue jeans with his hands, with his skinny frame made the shirt look like it was just a little too big for him. Everything had been going smoothly, no one had walked in, he had filled up almost half the bag. Just 30 more minutes Dale told himself. Collecting rust was a very boring thing to do.
Dale thought about the first time he was here, the toilets were still just as... ugly as the first time he was here, he wondered why the elves would not just fix up the toilets. But before Dale could get lost in his own thoughts, the door opened.
Before he could even think, a chill ran up his spine, he felt like something terrible had just entered the destroyed bathrooms. When he looked up he says a boy, he was quite small and he wore a black robe that looked much too big for him, it also was very worn out. Before Dale could say anything the boy said "Who are you, and why are you gathering rust." Shit Dale swore in his head, he wasn't expecting prepared for this at all. He had to come up with some sort of explanation of what he was doing, or he could just tell the bot the truth, that would be very easy but might have some unseen consequences. "I-I was just collecting it f-for fun?" Dale said with a weak smile, he was not good at lying under these sort of circumstances.

"I have studied fun, I have felt fun and know what it is. Rust collecting is not fun, and you do not find it entertaining. You are gathering dying metals for a reason and I want to know what it is."
He was irritable, nerves worn thin. Kaegen was always irritable, he always had been. It annoyed him how the world moved by without waiting for him to catch up, it annoyed him how to world was boring, or too interesting. Realistically, he was simply too stressed. There was a constant voice screaming for blood and carnage and food that he kept constantly suppressed. Every day, ,and every night, he kept the voice down.
How did he do it? With grim focus, and sheer force of will and purpose. His purpose may have just been simple hate, but it was enough to keep him moving swiftly forward, it was enough to keep him ahead of the voice, anyway. Not very far ahead, not far enough ahead for him to relax, or enjoy anything. But enough for him to stay sane. Irritable and easily enraged, sure. Terrifying, also sure. But sane, thinking. Calculating with the brilliant mind gifted to him, presumably by his parents.

Dale internally scolded himself after all he had said the dumbest lie he could ever come up with, why was he collecting rust? For fun of course. The boy saw right through Dale stupid lie, he wasn't fooling anyone. The boy demanded to know what Dale was doing, but he talked in a strange way, he had said that he had studied fun, and he had stated that Dale was collecting "dying metals". Never in his life had he heard someone call rust dying metal. But Dale could wonder about that later, he had to come up with a good lie, and an actual good lie, not just, "For fun" this time. He scratched his head trying to think about what to tell the boy.
Maybe Dale could just tell the boy the truth, after all, he didn't seem to be perfect, and that would make thing very easy, but he would have to be cryptic about it, maybe confuse the boy enough that he just left Dale alone, yeah, that seemed like a good idea. "I-I'm collecting rust to... experiment on it?" Dale said nervously, that had not come out the way Dale wanted it to. He would have to really work on is horrible lying skills.

He was gathering dying metal for an experiment? Now that sounded more reasonable. However, it stood to reason that there was a kind of experiment he needed the rust for, and that stood to reason that this boy knew something Kaegen didn't, because Kaegen certainly didn't know of anything rust was good for. And all of that combined meant that Kaegen was going to learn more. Now.
"What kind of experiments... specifically."
There was always the possibility that the boy was still lying, but it was more unlikely. Experimenting seemed like something you would want to do with rust, didn't it? It was that or a spell that needed rust, for one reason or another. It didn't seem awfully magic to him, but that didn't mean much. A lot of plants and minerals had magical properties, right? Why not this, why not dying metal? And if dying metal had magical properties, what about dying people? What about people that were already dead, were they magic?
Kaegen glared at the younger boy hard. How many secrets did he even hold? How much knowledge was tucked away in that head that wasn't already in his own? Was this boy something that Kaegen didn't think anyone but himself could possibly be? Was this boy potentially...
...Something useful?

Dale bit his tongue, this boy seemed to really know what dale was doing collecting rust from a pipe. And on top of that Dale’s impeccable lying skills seemed to make the boy even more suspicious of what exactly Dale was up to. The boy asked him what experiments he was planning on doing, Dale tried to think of a better lie, but he couldn't, he racked his head but nothing that made any sort of sense came to his head. He had to get out of there before the boy asked any more questions. So Dale quickly got up, dusted off his blue jeans, the rust that had fallen on the jeans left little red specks on them, he picked up his plastic bag, now about halfway full of rust and closed it.
”Umm, its something for potions.” Dale said quickly, he hoped that he said it quickly enough that the boy would not question it. ”W-Well, I should be going now, I have more than enough rust for now.” Dale said with a chuckle, but honestly, he needed the full bag, he would have to come back for the rest another day. Dale quickly then quickly waved goodbye to the boy and went to exit the bathroom.

This was not going to end in him getting snubbed, in someone just walked away from him. He was Kaegen, he was in stronger, faster, smarter. He was going to run roughshod over anyone else's feeble schemes and instate his own. There were no other powerhouses here in hogwarts. He was it, and he was brilliant. Or at least that's what he told himself, that's what he believed. So when the boy started walking past him, he initially did nothing. He just slowly built up his hate until right after the slytherin had passed him, and then Kaegen spun around.
His claw like, spidery fingers grabbed a heavy handhold in the back of the other boy's robes, as the little ravenclaw practically hissed at his fellow student. He was done with the lies, he was done with whatever it was this other boy was trying to hide. He was done.
"How about you elaborate. Well."
If dale tried to run, Kaegen would simply tackle him to the ground as best he could. If there was too much of a struggle he would move to more damaging methods of combat. But for now, he would simply hold on to the back of the other boy's robe, lights flickering to the point of almost going out, the room dropping a good 5 degrees, from the solid wall of impatient hate that was radiating from Kaegen. It was tangible, you could feel it. It was as if the daggers that were being shot from his eyes had become tangible and buried into the spines of anyone in the bathroom.
He was going to figure out what was going on, and it was going to happen now.

Dale thought he was safe, the boy didn't say anything as he stood up and started walking, he assumed the boy didn’t actually care what Dale was doing, the boy probably just wanted the bathroom empty, for reasons Dale really did not want to know.
But as soon as he passed the boy he felt something latch onto his robes, something slender and very cold. Dale was horrified, not only was he not expecting it, but the boy's grip was very firm. The boy demanded to know Dale was up to, Dale tried to think of another lie, but he was too scared to think properly he, Dale thought for a moment, the boy looked about his age if not a little younger, he couldn’t possibly know what thermite was, right? ”Umm, I’m just making some t-thermite.” Dale said, his voice full nervousness and terror. Dale hoped his answer satisfied the boy, he wanted to leave this place as fast as he could, he would come back another day, or find a new place to collect his rust, maybe the forest had some rusted machinery, although he doubted he would find any machinery at a magic school. If his answer didn't satisfy the boy, Dale had confidence in his running skills.

Kaegen's hand did not relax, but rather, tightened. Thermite? What was that? Thermal was heat, so maybe a stone that gave off warmth? Was this just another lie? But if it was, why would he have come up with such an odd word, instead of something reasonable, like saying he was gong to make sneezing powder.
"What is that. What do you use it for. Please be aware that I am not letting go, you aren't getting anywhere, and if you try to flee I swear I will cut you down. Now speak."
Someone else having knowledge Kaegen didn't bothered him to no end, and he felt as though he was getting close. The hand that wasn't being used to grab the boy slipped up it's sleeve, and found a small blade. He wouldn't merely tackle this boy, oh no. If something happened, then blood would be spilled once more, and this slytherin's knowledge would die with him. Kaegen would be able to locate thermite somewhere else, maybe the library.
Long fangs slowly slid out, into place. Kaegen took a deep breath, and attempted to focus. Rage would help nothing, rage wasn't going to help at all. All he needed was information. It was only then that he remembered the image of a struggling, screaming little rabbit. Kaegen had been trying to help it, but it hadn't cared, and had ended up strangling itself in the wire it had been caught in. This other boy was scared, and he had just been threatened.
Kaegen wanted information, something this boy had. Why was he just taking it? It was an uncharacteristic mood swing, and probably not one that was going to last long. The shadows that writhed about their feet, trying and failing to get their incorporeal hands on the slytherin faded, and the darkness reduced considerably. It was a relieving of tension, or at least, of some tension.
"No. Fine. Please give me the information. I- really want to know."
His death grip relaxed considerably, hand falling away from the other boy's robes.
