Bundled up as always for the winter cold, Bex took her now traditional seat on the bench. After the disaster that was their last game, she had her fingers crossed that less people would get knocked unconscious this go-round. Well, she was fine if the Gryffindors got knocked unconscious, that was preferable actually. Maybe she'd lost the plot a little here.

Eyes on the sky, she did her best to burrow into her scarf as she waited for the game to begin.

How did someone become a legend when playing sports at Hogwarts? The answer, they didn’t immediately get knocked out at every single game. Lavinia was having a bit of trouble avoiding bludgers and blatches over the past year and was getting fed up with it. Her constant focus on improving her aim had led to a lack of proper awareness so to speak. She was still great at dodging attacks from younger players, but it was getting much harder to avoid the attacks from her classmates. Luckily this time around, Gryffindor didn’t have any seventh years on their team and were mainly built of younger players. It was perfect for Lavinia.

Walking out onto the Hogwarts field for her second to last quidditch game, Lavinia let out a sigh of excitement. She felt so good about their current team and was ready to get back to making some waves in the quidditch realm. Ravenclaw had the team to win this game, they just all had to deliver and perform the way Lavinia had them practice. Game on.

My first match on the field was supposed to get me on "the nerves", but I was surprisingly feeling confident and thrilled. The adrenaline higher than the fear or doubt. As a chaser, this match is going to be one with a lot of shucks to go through, given the deets we have to do. Okay, honestly? I have no clue what I am blabbering on about right now. The lions are roaring on for us, the team and for me. And I ain't letting no one down. Not now and not ever.

As soon as captain finished their speech and soared the skies, off we went. Our brooms carrying us through the gloomy skies to face the storm that lies ahead {the match}. I better be as focused as I can ever be.

CHASERS

"And it's off to the races- or- chases and bludgers!" The teams wasted no second after the whistle blew, finding their places in the sky as they searched for their ball or kept an eye on their allies and opponents. It would only be two of the six chasers, though, that focused their attention on the quaffle, a battle between Winnie and Finnegan with no Keepers in sight to keep them from the hoops. It would be Winnie that started with the upper hand, a high level of skill still maintained even if her memories were not as they were. With no keeper it was a a simple matter of tossing the quaffle between a circle of preference and continuing onto the next grapple of the quaffle. "10 points for Ravenclaw! And another 10 for the eagles!" It would work twice, yet Finnegan seemed to learn the tricks and adjust, taking over control of after the 20 points were scored to rocket the quaffle towards the opposing hoops. "20 points for Gryffindor!" Yet as quickly as he took over the chasing, his momentum wavered- still another 10 points gained as the quaffle flew through the hoops once more by stumbling through a last empty to aim just shy of any points. "30 for Gryffindor - 20 for Ravenclaw: it's still neck and neck in this first round! We'll see if either team is able to get a firm lead..."

SEEKERS

The search started, with varying reactions from seekers. While Aly attempted for a glimpse at the flying gold, her eyes found themselves on the Keeper, Charlie, as something seemed off or unsettling about her. It was best to keep a potential threat within eyesight, but searching for the snitch would have to be forfeit. Elsian, on the other hand, had little care for the unnerving, careful glances around the pitch spotting a flash of- something- fluttering through the air. So close, he could almost reach it- but not quite. "Uh oh! It looks like Gryffindor's Seeker has got his eye on something- but can he grab it or will Ravenclaw catch up? It's looking to be a mad dash from here!"

BEATERS

And now it was time for the bloodshed- and all of them wanted their chance at it. Pax and Ethan would combo to pack a brutal punch towards Lavinia that sent her tumbling off her broom- near unconsciousness yet somehow keeping her eyes open even as she fell. It was enough power to find some new targets- Pax with their eye on Aly as she posed the most danger being a Seeker. If Aly could see snitches though, she could definitely see the bludger flying right at her- deftly moving out of the way before any damage could be done. Ethan, meanwhile, shifted his attention to the other Beaters, starting with Jorah. Too focused on his own targets, the Ravenclaw wouldn't see the metal sphere until the impact, a collision with a crunch that still kept its target on his broom but heavily battered. Thankfully, Jorah's own bludger had already found its first target- one Finnegan currently fighting with Winnie for control of the quaffle. It was the perfect distraction, a final toss towards (but not in) the hoops, before suddenly he was in the air in one place with broom far off in another. "Ouch! That's has to be two concussions- Lavinia and Finnegan are plummeting!" The second target, a younger year Alejandro, narrowly avoided 'death' as Ethan's hit with Ebony looming nearby sent the bludger off course. Ebony would take her time though, setting up the shot against Pax until they were certain it would hit. Sheer power would have to be sacrificed, but the hit would still cause the announcer to audibly wince.

For all the bloodshed, it seemed both teams had decided to keep the game above table for now- mostly. Only Alejandro weaved towards Charlie, forcefully crashing into the Keeper and sending her tumbling off of her broom after having been keeping a watchful eye of the other Ravenclaws. Unfortunately, it seemed no one had done the same except Alejandro- and the referee. "Blatching! Alejandro- that's a penalty lap for you! Blatant disrespect of the rules..."

While Charlie had no one to swoop in for her, Lavinia and Finnegan would find themselves caught before they could hit the ground. Quinn would be the savior for Ravenclaw, rushing towards the Chaser with an unintentional sacrifice of the other person on save duty. Kora wouldn't have to make a choice, only one fallen on the Gryffindor side to save from impending doom.

Nicholas clapped his hands together as he watched the plays unfold. The scoring opened up slowly, but the real blood on the field came with the bludgers. Players were sent hurdling toward the ground, but it was Gryffindor that managed to ensure that everyone remained in play. The older boy offered a toothy smile to his first-string counterpart, before turning his attention back to the game at large. Maybe he wouldn't even be needed, that would be something, wouldn't it?

Pax had missed the chaos and action of the quidditch pitch - and who could blame them? This time, they'd been working closely with Ethan on teamwork (something Oonagh Brown had actually inspired them to do, though they would never admit it), and launched a powerful bludger towards Lavinia. They felt a bit bad taking the captain out right away, but it was necessary.

Their ricochet would miss, alas, which would distract them from the bludger that connect in their stomach. The pain was sharp but quick, and Pax was pleasantly surprised to see that they were still standing after it. That was a nice change, for once.

The rest of the team seemed to be flourishing as well - even though Finn had been KOB'd, he'd managed to be saved. Pax couldn't be prouder of how well the team was doing so far.

Being on the ground truly was wayyyyy tooooo different than I what I had in mind. With players zapping across like blood-thirsty warriors waging a battle, with brooms for wands, bludgers for brutal hits and goals to save, I better get my focus maxed out.

Seeing the team skillfully deal with everything, kept the excitement and spirit in high flames for me. This is gonna be one hell of a match for sure.

The amount of wincing and eyebrow raising at this absolute roller coaster of a start had Avis’ cheeks sore already. Points were being scored back and forth and players were falling through the air like stoned birds. The girl found herself on her feet and craning her neck when Charlie fell to see she was alright, and then sank back down into her seat, eyes peeled towards the action in the sky. Great Merlin, it was one thing to see your name on a team roster but to picture oneself potentially hitting the ground like that during live play… Avis shuddered and went back to urging her team on, only to witness the Gryffindor Seeker make a move for something unseen in the air. Avis blew out a breath and tapped out a nervous rhythm on the bench with her fingers, hoping her fellow birds could snag a bit more luck in the near future.
