Quidditch Slytherin vs Hufflepuff - Winter 2025

Lottie wasn’t as prepared as she had imagined to step out onto the pitch and be immediately bombarded with the sight of both her fellow classmates and students of all years lining the stands. Her hair was coated with a thin layer of mist, the drowsy late-winter day working against her lame attempts at getting excited for the game.

She followed the rest of the second-string players to the bench, knees knocking as she settled in to watch the start of the game.

It was a chilly morning, right at the heart of winter. Jess rubbed her hands together and squinted, prepping herself for what she viewed as Hufflepuff's chance for redemption. It was safe to say that their last match was something of a disaster, so hopefully they could finally prove themselves worthy of the Quidditch Cup.

CHASERS

The whistle blew and the game got immediately underway. Neither keeper found their way towards the rings, choosing to take other actions this time around. Both teams focused their efforts elsewhere on the field as only one chaser was chosen to grab the quaffle from both teams. Maggie from Slytherin and Atlas from Hufflepuff were the only two attempting to grab the quaffle and alternated who got it each time. In the first five quaffle grabs, Maggie came out on top scoring 30 points for Slytherin, while Atlas only managed 20. It was almost the easiest way possible to score without having someone guarding the hoops.

SEEKERS

Dan was the experienced seeker with the most. He spotted the snitch immediately and would be on his way to try and end the match as fast as possible. Eugenia was a chaser which made it a very interesting strategical choice to have them searching for the snitch. Surprisingly, Eugenia also found the snitch just as fast as Dan and would have to see if they were able to get away with such a complex cheating move.

BEATERS

The beaters were much more active in comparison to the chasers as each of them took on an important role. Ulysses was fully focused on guarding Dan, the long term Slytherin keeper. Meanwhile, Percival backbeated a bludger towards Tesla while Tesla and Avery joined forces to bludger Percival. Both bludgers hit their mark as Tesla fell from the sky at the same time as Percival. Shockingly Percival was able to hang onto the smallest bit of consciousness while his broom shattered, but Tesla was knocked out and spiraling towards the ground. With the first targets out of the way, both bludgers continued on to their second target. Percival's bludger ricocheted to Daphne who had not even attempted to look for the snitch. Daphne was hit by the bludger and with a snap of her broom she was sent to join Tesla on the grass of the pitch. Tesla and Avery's bludger was on its way to hit Dan before Ulysses moved in front and took the hit for his teammate. Ulysses followed a similar story to Percival as he tumbled off his broom yet didn't get fully knocked out.

KOB FOULS

Koko was supposed to be a chaser, however, she was known for her blatching abilities. Koko had targeted Atlas off the start and made quick work of sending her off her broom. To make matters worse for Hufflepuff, Koko was not spotted and able to get away with such an obvious foul move.

SAVES AND BROOM RETURNS

Three players could be found circling the bottom of the pitch waiting to see if any of their teammates needed to be saved. Roxette would witness two fully unconcious teammates fall past before being able to rescue Atlas out of the air. Avery and Mellani were both able to grab their beaters who were surprisingly still conscious. It would be very interesting to see how each team utilized shared brooms to their advantage.

Mellani looked around, being on the watch for any rogue bludgers and falling teammates. Percival fell, and got his broom broken, but he was quickly caught by Avery, but apparently making him fall was not enough, his broom also broke.

Consequently, Mellani quickly noticed their other beater, Ulysses also falling, and she rushed on her broom to catch him. She was nervous that she would be too slow, but just before he touched the ground, she managed to catch him and soar up. "Thanks! How badly did you get hurt?", she asked.

Two of Jess' teammates were hit hard, including their Seeker, which was an utter pain. Fortunately, it was Eugenia who had looked for the Snitch, and everyone watched as both she and the Slytherin Seeker locked eyes on the small fluttering ball of gold.

Jess felt useless. Despite her attempts to save her fellow players by getting them onto her broom, she realised there was really nothing she could have done as she watched them sink into unconsciousness on their way down to the ground.

Avery dove with a knee-jerk reaction as soon as he saw Percival get hit by a bludger, scooping the injured beater onto the back of his broom. There was no way Percival was going to fall on his watch.

"Too deadly to be ignored?" he chuckled quietly, before taking a glance back at his dormmate to check if the guy was okay. "How's the ribcage?" he asked, because that doppelbeater move looked like it could hurt worse than a venomous tentacula.

Annnnnd she was in. This always seemed to happen to her, going in quickly after the game began, but that was just a normal game of quidditch. She took a deep breath as she hopped on her broom and soared up to join the players that hadn't been brutally knocked out by the Slytherins. Internally she kept repeating the same thing over and over to herself: Hufflepuff, please catch the snitch soon. It was freezing, and Sage really wasn't in a mood to go tumbling off her broom like some of the others had. She tightened her hands on her broom.

Landon jumped in surprise as Camilla whispered to him loudly. She didn't think he was excited enough for the game. Landon tried to cheer excitedly, but he just wasn't the most vocal sort of guy. And then the match began and Landon couldn't tear his eyes away.

Landon gasped as he watched the action unfurl. Of course it was a clash of people, and it looked like both sides were not taking it easy on the other. Landon was proud of his team, even when some of them got knocked off brooms. He cheered as Atlas scored points for the team, but then let out a groan of frustration when she was knocked off her broom, though she was lucky and saved by Roxette.

Landon felt his heart beating hard in his chest at the thought of playing in the game soon if things kept going this way. He was ready, but nervous. He just wanted to be a good team player.
