Eye of the Tiger

Dennis Tumberton was tired of getting pushed around. Today would be the day that he did something about it! He remembered a long time ago his dad had shown him some movies about the hero being beaten but training hard to rise to the top. This would be Dennis’ finest hour! Or at least that’s how it played out in his head as he took his shirt off and looked in the mirror. He flexed his scrawny arms and sucked in his non-existent belly until his ribcage protruded and he looked like a skeleton. “Time to put some meet on these bones,” he told himself, “whatever that means.” He was sure he heard someone say that somewhere before and it just felt right in the moment.
One couldn’t be full of muscles, however, if one did not look the part! He cut off the sleeves of an old faded blue shirt and the legs off an old pair of blue jeans at knee height that already developed holes. Every bodybuilder needed some attitude! Next, he took a white tube sock and tied it around his head like a sweatband. If he was going to be working so hard, he wouldn’t want sweat in his eyes! He cut the toes off two mismatched colored socks that he no longer had the pairs too and put one around each wrist: one green and one purple. With hands on his hips, the Ravenclaw struck a pose in the mirror. Perfect. This is exactly how muggles would dress before getting ‘pumped.” The boy grinned and said in as deep a voice as he could muster, “Let’s pump some iron,” a pause, “whatever that means. Seriously, muggles say some of the weirdest things!”
Happy with his cacophony of colors, the red head strutted through the Ravenclaw common room, ignoring any and all stares his new threads might have caused. To the 12 year old, he was the very visage of adonis. He quickly made his way outside though, without incident, onto the castle grounds. He found a clearing that had a few stones and sticks strewn about and got to work planning his new ‘work out.’ Now what did the muggles do again? He remembered one time that he saw some really muscular men making some interesting poses. That must be how you get them, why else would they do it!
And so it started. He stood in front of one tree, picked a line to another and with each step, he struck a pose as if he was one of those body builders. Arms up, arms down, legs apart, legs together. He didn’t know if it was working, but he did start feeling cool at least. To be perfectly honest, after a full lap, though, he wasn’t sure it was helping at all! Maybe he just needed to do more!

Mens sana in corpore sano. A healthy mind in a healthy body. Everytime he heard it, Zach always remembered his grandfather. He always told Zach to exercise, to train his body, so the boy wouldn't be weak. Last year, he even gave Zach running shoes so he could run in his school. Little did he know, Zach was schooled in Hogwarts, a magical school that he definitely didn't know, where his own grandson made his thought "Why do muggle things when we can do magic thing?". Anyway, Zach still did what his grandfather told him. Zach kept running at least thrice a week so when he met his grandfather again, the old man wouldn't judge Zach "weak" again.
After doing some stretching, Zach started to jog. That day's air was good. It gave a good vibe for his regular jogging. Even though he couldn't jog with an earphone like he usually did, Zach could see the scenery around him. That was until he saw a peculiar figure under the tree that made him stop jogging.
Squinting his eyes, he tried to make sure that his eyes were right. And yes, they were right. There was a boy with a peculiar outfit posing under the tree. Zach couldn't help but to give his judgemental look at the boy, wondering what he was doing until he noticed that the boy was also a Ravenclaw. "Oh? Isn't it... uh...." Zach tried to remember the name, "Dennis?"
Interested in what he was doing, Zach approached the boy. "What are you doing?" Zach was behind Dennis with a tilted head.

“Maybe I should try something else?” Dennis asked himself breathlessly. Working out was…well…hard work, even if it didn’t seem all that effective. He remembered also seeing that sometimes big strong people lifted heavy objects. Maybe he should too! He turned around to break off a branch from the nearby tree when he spotted Zach, broom racing captain of Ravenclaw, staring at him and asking him what it was he was doing. Dennis beamed at the other boy with his usual goofy smile. Chest puffed comically, the redhead strutted over to him. “Greetings fellow….worker….outter?” Dennis said in a false deep macho voice, striking a rather ridiculous figure with his even more bizarre outfit.
He paused a moment to consider if that is what you call people who work out. Shrugging Dennis looked at his admirer and asked, “What brings you out here? Are you trying to get strong too?” Dennis adjusted his ‘headband’ and set out trying to break off the branch with all his might. With a crack and a yelp Dennis landed on his butt as the stick splintered off from its trunk. Dennis mumbled something about really needing to do more poses before addressing Zach from his now prone position. “A little help?” He asked as he extended his arm as if asking for a good pull to his feet.

Zach saw all of the poses. He couldn't help but wonder what he was really doing. Zach took back his judgy eyes when Dennis greeted him in a deep macho voice. The boy giggled before saying, "Hello."
"I am jogging. My grandpa told me to jog when I have time." The old man always told him that a man mustn't be weak. "What about you? And..." he squinted his eyes, looking at the "What things do you wear around your head? It looks... too tight." Zach was a little bit concerned about the boy. He might have an ugly mark on his forehead. Perhaps with a bad hairstyle as an addition.
"Hey!" Zach exclaimed. He couldn't believe Dennis tried to break off the branch. But it was too late for Zach to prevent him, the branch was already separated from the trunk. Not only that, Dennis also fell on his butt. "Oh goodness!" Zach hurried to approach Dennis. "Are you okay?" he reached Dennis's arm and helped him to stand up. Dennis str vs Zach str: d20(20)+1>d20(13)+3 But instead of helping him, Zach's feet went nimble. His arm wasn't strong enough. or perhaps Dennis was too strong to make Zach also fall. "Ouch!"
Zach was also on the ground. He grimaced, not only because the pain, but also for the embarrassment. After some minutes, he giggled. It was silly. "Why did you break the branch in the first place?"
