My first steps at Hogwarts ! I've been waiting impatiently for this to happen and here I am ! My big brothers told me so much about this place and now that I'm here it's just wonderful ! Everything is beautiful and splendid ! But above all it's too big ! How do the students manage not to get lost ? With my books in my hands and my bag on my back, I can't even find my way around, despite the map my big brother gave me for the new school year.
- Well, let's see. The Great Hall shouldn't be far. If I've followed it correctly, I should be on the first floor...
But that wasn't counting the stairs, which were constantly moving. And I don't even know where I am any more ! And as far as I can tell, I'm not even on the first floor. It was at this very moment that my stomach decided to protest, a clear sign that I was starving. Clearly I can't just sit here and not even know where I am. The only solution I have right now is to continue on my way. So I started walking again when a figure in front of me came into view. Saved, I approached her before calling out to her:
- Hi ! Do you have a second ? I think I'm lost...
Oh my God, I'm starting to stutter ! But there's really nothing I can do about it and I have no choice but to rely on the advice of the young woman standing in front of me.
I hope my post suits you !

✯There is nothing scary about naturally talented people, hardworking people are the ones to be afraid of ✯Tracey was happy to be back at Hogwarts, and so far, her second year was starting off great. Tracey had yet to encounter a lost firstie and offer them her help. She wanted to help out the younger students, even if that means guiding them through a school that she's not all too familiar with yet.
It's true, Hogwarts is a really big school, but just as it's really big, it's also really lovely. She loves everything about the school, well except the hospital wing, which so far, she had only been in once, and hopefully only once.
Tracey looked at her watch and noticed that it was time to go to the Great Hall, since dinner would be soon. Tracey left the library and quickly made her way to the Ravenclaw common room to put her stuff away. When she was done, she made her way down to the Great Hall, as she was doing so, along one of the many corridors Hogwarts had to offer, Tracey heard a stuttering voice call out to her. She turned to them and saw a younger girl. Tracey first sent her a smile before saying,
"Hi. I can help you find where your looking for. If it's the Great Hall, feel free to follow me. I'm heading there myself,"

Luckily for me, the girl seemed really friendly and immediately offered to follow me. Reassured and happy, I was quick to thank her:
- Thank you from the bottom of my heart ! I'm looking for the Great Hall where I should normally find my brother...
As I walk, I do my best not to fall over with my things. My books don't weigh me down too much, so I've been able to make out in detail what's written on the map. And, without realising it, I let out a swear word. Then, remembering that I'm not alone, I turn to my comrade with a rueful smile on my face:
- Sorry. I've just realised that the reason I got lost was because of the map my brother, Luke, made for me. He's in fourth year at Ravenclaw and he's always liked to play tricks on me. I should have realised !
Then I let out an annoyed sigh before smiling again :
- Thanks again ! Oh, and my name is Kathleen. Kathleen O'Byrne.
Why did I say my surname ? I've no idea; force of habit, I suppose. In any case, I smile despite my thoughts already trying to find the best revenge for my brother. No malice, of course, but he needs to be taught a lesson. And I mustn't let my brother push me around !
@Tracey Bailey Thank you ! It's the same for me, just like on pfr !

✯There is nothing scary about naturally talented people, hardworking people are the ones to be afraid of ✯Tracey sent the younger girl another smile when she heard the younger girl thank her. Hearing the younger girl said that she's looking for the Great Hall, Tracey said,
"Well then, follow me. I'll lead you to the Great Hall,"
Tracey slowly began to walk, not knowing the younger girls walking speed. If she felt like the younger girl was able to keep up with ease, Tracey would quicken her pace and go back to her usual pace.
For now, the two girls were walking in silence, until she heard the younger girl curse, probably had to do with something on the map she was holding, since Tracey had noticed the younger girl was holding onto a map. Hearing the younger girl apologize, Tracey shook her head before saying,
"It's ok. Oh, I'm in Ravenclaw, so I might've seen him around. I'm a second year, but I'm not really familiar with the older students in Ravenclaw yet,"
In fact, Tracey wasn't even sure if she knew everyone in her year who's in her house. Obviously she's seen every Ravenclaw student in the common room at some point, but does that mean she knows everyone? No.
Hearing the younger girl introduce herself as Kathleen O'Byrne, Tracey wondered if her last name sounded familiar, but no other name came to mind. Instead, Tracey said,
"Nice to meet you, Kathleen. I love your name. I'm Tracey, Tracey Bailey,"

I'm delighted to have found someone to accompany me. My brother's card certainly didn't help and he's going to be very sorry. I turn to the girl who happens to be in the same house as Luke.
- I understand, it must be hard to remember all the faces and names in our houses. I don't know many people but I'm lucky enough to have my brother at Hogwarts.
I couldn't help blushing, a little embarrassed, when the second year told me she liked my name.
- Nice to meet you, Tracey. It's a beautiful name too. Mine belonged to my paternal great-grandmother. My father named me after her to honour her memory.
I couldn't resist saying more. My father spent some good times with my great-grandmother, so deep down I feel honoured to be able to call myself after a woman who had an important place in my father's heart.
- By the way, do you have any brothers or sisters ?
It's a basic question, but I'm intrigued by his answer. Over the years, I've always wanted a little sister, but my parents are happy with me and my brothers...

✯There is nothing scary about naturally talented people, hardworking people are the ones to be afraid of ✯Tracey nodded along to what Kathleen said, in complete agreement. Tracey wasn't sure if she'd ever be able to get to know everyone in her house. Perhaps she'll get to know the duelist in her house, but that was probably it. When Tracey realized that Kathleen had finished talking, Tracey said,
"It really is. I wonder how all the professors remember everyone's names. Especially with how many students there are at this school. It's a good thing I still remember my friends names,"
Tracey wasn't sure if the last thing she said was funny or not, so she didn't laugh. Tracey knew that she'd never forget her friends names or what they looked like, but it could be a possibility.
Tracey looked at Kathleen again when she started talking and nodded along before she said,
"That's nice. That way everyone can remember her,"
Tracey didn't really have much to say, so she just kept it short. As the two girls continued to walk to the Great Hall, Tracey heard Kathleen ask if Tracey had any siblings. Tracey shook her head before saying,
"No, I'm an only child. But I have a childhood friend who lives in Japan, and he's like a brother to me. But I'm not sure if that counts,"

I listen to Tracey's words and wonder how her new teachers manage to remember all the names. Did they use a spell ? Either way, I'm sure I'll remember Tracey. I didn't laugh at her remark but I smiled all the same.
- I'm sure you remember your friends. Personally, I never forget a face that has made an impression on me. If your friends have shown you kindness, it's impossible for you to forget them.
I don't know if she needed any reassurance in that respect, but I couldn't help expressing myself. And, deep down, I tell myself that it's the same for people who hurt us : it's impossible to forget them completely. Fortunately, the second year's comment calmed me down and made me forget my thoughts. I didn't know my great-grandmother, but I'm sure I'll never forget her.
- Of course it matters, if you think of him as your brother ! As for me, I think I've got a little idea of what it's like to be an only child... I have 4 brothers, so sometimes I feel a bit lonely. Even though I'm surrounded by people every day, it's hard for me to feel... Understood...
I don't know why I said that. But I'm not sad about it. It's a fact that exists even with all the love I get from my brothers. Sometimes they play games that I don't like. But that's life, I guess. I glanced at the Ravenclaw before asking :
- Are you from Japan ?
@Tracey Bailey I will be honoured !

✯There is nothing scary about naturally talented people, hardworking people are the ones to be afraid of ✯Hearing Kathleen's words, Tracey nodded her head, agreeing to what the Hufflepuff was telling her. Tracey then said,
"I do remember my friends. I also remember their faces, but sometimes if you haven't seen them in a while and all of a sudden they look completely different, then I won't recognize them,"
Not like that has ever happened to Tracey, but it could very much happen to her. Especially with how much people are changing in this generation. She always wondered what it was like in her parents generation or in her grandparents generation.
Tracey looked over at Kathleen when she heard her speaking. Even though she had 4 brothers, she felt alone, something that Tracey sometimes felt, but had mostly felt it while attending school in the muggle world.
"While I attended school in the muggle world, I mostly felt alone, only at school. At home I feel like I wasn't hidden or a ghost. Here I feel like I'm seen as well," Tracey says wondering if Kathleen feels this way too.
Hearing Kathleen ask if Tracey was from Japan, she shook her head before she answered,
"No. I'm from England. However, my childhood friend is born and raised there and attends school there. It would be cool to visit Japan though,"

I understand the words of the ravenclaw. It can be difficult not to remember a face when you haven't seen that person for a long time. At least, I'm trying to understand.
- I think I understand what you're saying. But it's complicated because I've never had any friends. I don't know what it's like...
I feel good with Tracey. She's nice and really warm. But will I ever make friends ? Will I be able to detach myself from my big brother and eat with my own people ? Tracey went to school but I didn't. And I don't feel the same way. And I don't feel the same : I really do feel like a ghost at Hogwarts. Like I'm completely invisible. It's hard to fit in when you've only known your family.
- I just... For me, it's the opposite. I grew up in a family of wizards, so I grew up at home. Despite the loneliness I may have felt, I always felt good and at peace. But here it's different. I love Hogwarts and I've always dreamed of going there, of having my own adventures, but...
I swallow before finishing :
- It's hard to fit in when I've only known my own house. I've never learnt how to make friends. I feel invisible and so small in the grandeur of this castle. I really hope I can feel the way you do.
Seeing Tracey shake her head at my question, I listened to her answer, intrigued.
- I imagine that Japan must be very different from here. I've travelled before, but never as far as Asia. Maybe one day I'll go...
I feel reassured. I feel less alone already. However, I know that Tracey has her own friends and I won't be able to stay with her all the time. I need advice and she's the only one who can help me.
- Do you know how to make friends ?
@Tracey Bailey Sorry I'm late ! And thanks for your suggestion
