Lamik sat on the grass, his arms wrapped around his knees and hugging his legs close. The boy looked around, obviously looking for something or someone, but the worry on his face almost made it seem as if he didn't want that something or one to show up. That was partially true, of course- Lamik had no idea what he was getting into. He was determined though, and the determination outweighed the worry.
Lamik had been invited to join the outer circle of the Dark Witch Society. At first he was excited, but soon enough the boy started getting bad vibes from the whole thing. It felt like they were dangerous, almost evil, if he was being honest, and he wanted to get as far away from it as possible.
That's why he was overjoyed when he had heard about the Order of Dawn. If this group really did oppose the society, Lamik wanted to join. He wanted to help. He wanted to show anyone and everyone what was wrong with the Society and shut it down for good. For those reasons he had sent someone who he thought was part of the Order an anonymous letter, containing his house, a few talents that he thought would prove useful, and a time and place to meet: a week after the letter was received, during the first lesson after the first break, at the hill by the stables. That was where he waited now.

"What if he like... uses a paralyses spell on us and he takes us to the dungeons for Savannah to do... weird experiments on us..." James chattered nervously to his two companions, hoping that his anxiousness might be expelled into the air by voicing it.
He was clutching onto a copy of The Bound Tome of Bind Marks. Hoping to glean some information on the power that this boy had revealed himself to possess.
James didn't like it. He'd found that the most famous use of this Binding Mark had been during the Wizarding Wars, a history with which James was becoming uncomfortably familiar. The Binding Mark wasn't Dark Magic per se, but it did give it's user an unbelievable amount of power of the branded person. He wondered what exactly "L" planned on doing with such a mark. He dreaded to think.
"I mean we just hear him out... figure out if he's legit, and if he tries anything, Charlotte breaks his nose. Or alternatively I'll Judo flip him and then Charlotte can break his nose."
As they approached the hill, the site James was met with was slightly less intimidating than he expected. A blond boy, with his knees tucked close to his chest. He seemed... small.
James approached the boy slowly.
"I guess you're the Mysterious 'L'. I'm James, and these are my friends Gem and Charlotte." he said, offering a hand.

Gem would've normally laughed at the prospect of being taken to a dungeon and had experiments done on them by a small girl, their age. However, the stakes were sort of totally serious, so he felt a small, nervous lump in his throat when the idea came out of James' stupid mouth.
"Aye, if we're trying to seem like weh can defend ourselves, might not want to make me look more terrified than I already am," he mumbled, his arms crossing loosely over his chest. His palms felt clammy ever since he'd heard of that anonymous letter James had gotten-- if they were a big enough deal to get letters from people outside of their own house? That meant something... he frowned.
Upon seeing who the perp was, he felt a lot less nervous. He probably shouldn't have, because it didn't matter how small you are when you murdered someone with Avada Kedavra. He supposed it was just instinct.
Nodding aimlessly along with James, he took a brief glance at Charlotte, then back over at 'L', attempting to keep his expression hard- which was, like, difficult, because he had an aura as threatening as a Care Bear.
"'Allo." He smiled a little, his hands slipping into his pockets to try and discreetly dry them off from the previous mild sweating and shaking his fingers were doing-- wow, Gem, you really are quite the specimen. He sneered, but kept his eyes on 'L', sort of... weary. They had no reason to trust him, and if he betrayed them, what could they possibly do about it? Cut his hands off? Not ideal. He guessed they'd just have to hear what he had to say.

What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.

Charlotte nodded along to whatever James was saying, laughing slightly at his anxieties. Things like that don't actually happen, right? Anyway, what could a child do to the three of them, James and Charlotte were pretty strong... and well- Gem could handle himself most of the time.
"We can defend ourselves, you're just nervous. I don't think this person could out-do all three of us." She raised her eyebrow, smiling slightly, her arms crossed tightly over her chest. She wasn't that nervous- none of them were cowards, and would fight if they needed to... She was even less nervous than before. In fact, all of her anxieties were erased.
Leaning over closer to Gem, she whispered, "might not want to look so terrified Gem, we've got a lot to go against, haven't we?" she let out a soft giggle, turning her attention back to 'L'
She'd never seen, spoken to, or had anything to do with this kid- but he didn't look like her could do any harm, so she let down her guard a little bit. She leaned her weight on one of her legs after James' introduction, waving her hand slightly. "Hi," her voice was more blunt than she was intending it to be- but no matter. After all, they were probably going to be around each other a lot more if he was actually trustworthy. She'd just have to see how things played out

At the Break of Dawn
Lamik got up onto his feet quickly and shook the boys hand. None of them seemed familiar, so he had to assume that they were all first years. "Lamik. My name is Lamik Fillestar." He said. Usually, an introduction from the boy would involve a bright smile and kind eyes, but now he watched the three first years closely, as if he half expected one of them to lunge at him. He knew they wouldn't, of course- they were on school grounds, so even if they wanted to it would be idiotic to attack a student in the open. That didn't mean he didn't have to be wary though- for all he knew, the Order was just as bad as the Society.
As he let go of the hand of the boy who he assumed was the one that he had sent the letter too, Lamik crossed his arms and looked down at the ground for a few moments. The boy briefly wondered whether he should apologize for having them flake their classes, but he decided that any sort of friendly apology should come after things were settled. Instead, Lamik looked each of them in the eye, a sudden fire lighting within him. As his posture changed to one that was obviously far more confident, he spoke with a serious, somewhat threatening tone. "It's permanent. The brand. If I brand you, its there for good."

“I’ve got about zero percent interest in being branded today, or... like ever Lamik, but if you sincerely want to take down Savannah- which, I have to be honest, I’m not entirely sure if we can trust you yet- but if that’s what you want to do, then you’re in.”
James relaxed his posture and smiled softy. He seemed nervous and James couldn’t blame him, the three of them- well Charlotte mostly- looked rather intimidating surrounding him like this.
“There is something pretty key that you’ve got that we need though, Lamik. Information. We want to know who’s a part of the DWS and why. We want to understand what it is that makes the DWS so tantalising for so many people... get into their heads you know?”
He looked up at the other two and hoped he wasn’t over stepping by revealing so much information, but he wanted to assure the boy that this group was different.
“We’d like to operate non-violently as long as we can. We believe our cause is the reasonable one, and hopefully reason will win out. But, if it doesn’t, we’re not unwilling to throw a few punches here and there.”
He was about to finish but another thought crossed his mind,
“This... binding mark. Where’d you learn it? I mean, more importantly, why’d you learn it? Before now, what use did you think it would have?”

Gem stifled a small giggle when Charlotte whispered in his ear, nudging her away with his elbow. He eyed Lamik carefully, his gaze unsure, definitely not one that had very much trust. He was a bit taken back when the brand was immediately slid across the table, hurled at them- not that it wasn't already on the table per se, but... well, it was just a bit straightforward, he supposed.
He nodded with James, feeling a pit in his stomach when the idea of being branded fully processed in his head. He'd like to think of it like it were a tattoo, but it was so much more severe than that, it was... intimidating, sort of.
"Right," He mumbled, "Sorreh to say, but ehm... it's a bit hard ta trust yah, mate. I mean, you get it, you're... you've got a lot of connection towards them. We aren't necessarily goin' ta make ya prove yoursel', but... I feel it's reasonable if we don't trust you right away." Of course James would ask for information, that was reasonable, but... how would they know it wasn't faulty? He gave Charlotte the side-eye, hoping she was thinking the same.
Gem raised his eyebrows, silently appreciating how good of a question that was. This would... tell them a lot, actually, sort of all they needed to hear. If there was any point of hesitation, or even if he seemed too prepared, that was already another red flag.
