Prat's heart remained calm in his chest as he strode onto the duelling pitch. This wasn't his first time here and the jitters he had months ago were now gone, replaced with an overflowing poise and confidence within his own self. His eyes scanned the new faces of the first years from Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. His wand was tight in his grip, notched with anticipation of the duel that was about to commence. The crisp air filled with anticipation and tension was a stark contrast to the cold interiors of the dungeons he woke up in. These were almost all new faces to him, except Ula Takahashi, the distractingly pretty second year from Gryffindors. He'd seen her in passing during the to and fro from one class to another, and then there was Meiyu....ugh. But today, the focus wasn't on whatever interaction they might have had or how it might have turned out. No, today was about the duel, pure and simple. Prat had quite some expectations from this game, hoping it'd go better than last time, and none of his duellists would lose their focus in the middle of this game.
In the end however the teams on both sides looked fairly competent to the slytherin boy and he had no intention to secretly cheer for either. He was to remain unbiased afterall. Straightening his collar Prat raised his voice, making sure both sides heard it. "I assume both sides already know the rules?" Prat wasn't looking for an answer, he'd be concerned at their stupidity if they didn't. "Get your wands ready and we shall begin" he emphasized before stepping away from anywhere he might get caught in the crossfire of whatever spells these duellists were about to send it off.

Gryffindor V Ravenclaw: Match 8

Equipped with nothing but a sense pride at making the duelling team, Meiyu strode onto the piste for her first, hopefully not last, time. The dim lit dungeon fortunately being enough to momentarily shield her vision from the snake who would moderate the match. Paying the troll no mind and nodding at the request to draw their wands, her gaze trailed across their opponents, most unfamiliar to the young girl. All except one, Avis, whom she recalled from an earlier yet brief encounter at the start of the semester. Appearing to be in a better state than she once was, Meiyu pursed her lips into a tight smile; one of recognition, aimed directly towards the girl who stood further away across the Gryffindor trio on the piste.
Smirking to herself as she compared the ravens to the lions, drawing out her wand in the process, it would be a remarkable match. Dubbing herself as a prodigy in abuse, albeit physical, duelling was new; she was more prepared compared to Prat's sly attack on her at the lake. All Meiyu had to do, was survive, again.
One round at least.
It wouldn't be unlikely for her to immediately be targeted, though, the desire to physically attack the opponents had that truly been the case only itched her fingertips; had Meiyu been petty, she would settle outside of the stage. Lurking around the halls to target whoever cast on her with the intent, the reminder forced her eyes to gaze back to the moderator, scoffing with distaste at his mere presence. Begrudgingly, she'd have to play nice, for all she knew; had he been capable to do so, the odds would not be in her favour.

Avis was second guessing this whole "duelling" thing. From what she had learned from the potions championship back in October, competitions here could very well include being bludgeoned. The main point being pain. Generally, pain wasn't an acceptable for of sport, and yet here it was.
She looked up to see Meiyu's wand pointed at her. Or so she thought it was pointed at her. It wasn't it seems, but it was probably just Avis' main character ego that made her think it was. Well, that was unnecessary, she thought. It was a duel, she supposed, but still. She retaliated, pointing her wand at Meiyu with a flourish and offering the girl a grin.

Gryffindor V Ravenclaw: Match 8
Edwin carried himself confidently as he strode into the room, this air of confidence not quite reflecting the mix of emotions that was swelling within him. An unusual mix of nerves, confidence and mainly excitement, creating an overall uneasy feeling. He hadn't the time to dwell on this feelings, however, as he had reached the piste, moving to stand besides his teammates.
He set his jaw, eyes briefly flicking over those gathered opposite him, none of their faces familiar to him. Having recognised none of them, he simply waited for the call for them to ready themselves, at which point he drew his wand, holding it idly by his side.

Gryffindor V Ravenclaw: Match 8
Ula huffed through her nose, rolling her shoulders back in hopes to shake out the last traces of nerves as she stepped into the duelling pitch. If this was her first duelling match, she refused to let these randoms know. With a steady grip on her wand, she caught sight of—what was his name again? Rat Grass? Pat Glass? Whatever. The Slytherin moderating the duel. He was watching her, gaze lingering just a little too long. So, with all the grace and poise of a true Gryffindor, she lifted her hand, kissed her middle finger like it was a good luck charm, and flicked it his way.
Then, onto more important matters.
She scanned the opposing team—only to pause when her eyes landed on one of them. Bald. Properly, deliberately bald. Ula let a slow smirk creep onto her face before she could help it.
"Well, well," she drawled, just loud enough to carry. "If it ain't Avatar The Last Airbender in the flesh." She let the words hang for a moment before flashing the Ravenclaw team a slow, wicked smile, the kind that promised she wasn't here to play nice.

𖣔 Silva was scared. Not just that, she was terrified! This was her first official duel, and her second duel ever. She was also only now realizing that people would be watching. They'd care how this turned out because of their houses. So, she had to perform well. But... what if she couldn't. She pushed those thoughts away and turned to her teammates. She grinned upon seeing them. She might be terrified, but she had two great friends by her side. Yolanda and Avis. They'd already had adventures together, such as the potions championship, and she trusted them. Taking a deep breath, she turned to Prat, who'd already moderated one of her duels before, and got ready to start. 𖡟

Yolanda went into the dueling match having a lot on her mind. It was time to forget all of that and focus on the task at hand. Her teammates were depending on her to move forward with the dueling match and she would give it her all.
It was time to duel. This was going to be exciting!

With the first round of Game 8 beginning, it seemed as if both the sides has already chosen their strategies, both clearly similar too. Not too unexpected from the younger leagues among duelling. While the gryffs chose to target Ula Takahasi, she managed to dodge one green sparks from Silva while a dancing spell from Avis Marlong made her begin doing Ballet on the piste of all places.
Yolanda, the third ravenclaw of the night seemed hesitant to move her wand, perhaps jitters from their first time in a duelling game.
The gryffs however came for blood, with no mercy in their demeanor or their spell casting, All of them chose to target one specific Raven, As spell after spell shot at Avis, Two incendios and one Flipendo. The gryff firsties practically threw everything and the sink at her. Not only was she sent flying away, she was also set on fire. The after effects of which she was sure to be feeling later during the game.
Even with all of that thrown on her, Avis managed to pick herself back up and got back to her stop for the next round. Truly a willpower built for duelling. "Are you still in the game with us ?" Prat questioned her, it was still his job to oversee the players no matter how much he was enjoying getting the front most seat to this show of spell casting.

Gryffindor V Ravenclaw: Match 8
Takahashi barely had a second to revel turning one of the Ravenclaws into a shish kebab before green sparks shot her way. She twisted, dodging one spell—only for another to hit her square in the chest, sending a strange warmth travelling through her limbs. Her body reacted before her mind could catch up and her feet slid into position as her body dipped into a deep plié. Ballet. Of course, her body had chosen to default to something she actually knew how to do. Burgess Private School for Girls had drilled this into her bones, and now like muscle memory taking over, she moved with effortless grace. In a matter of seconds she was pirouetting her way across the piste like she was auditioning for the lead role in Swan Lake—in the middle of a bloody duel.
Fine. They wanted a show? She'd give them one.

Gryffindor V Ravenclaw: Match 8
Avis barely even has time to celebrate her perfect shot when she was hit by not one, not two, but three spells. It was a miracle that she was even still standing. Well, by the end, in any case. She was now very sore, very bruised, and apparently on fire. Which was not pleasant. But with a look at her teammates, one of whom seemed to just have been standing there, rather than trying, she couldn't just strand Silva. No, Avis forced herself to get back to her spot, flames licking at her clothes. "Good try." She told Silva, then turned to Yolanda. "Hey, Yolanda? You good?"
