Flower, blood and the fearless
Blake looked at the letter sent to her by Savannah, the Dark Witch Society club. She received it about a day after sending a letter to the girl said that she would love to join the Dark Witch Society because she has the same interest as Rose and would do anything if that helps the "greater good". Those marveled words are indeed nothing but a lie, but it is a good lie. Those lies are the one that Blake considers would benefit both parties, those who lie and those who are lied to. Blake joining the club would benefit their aim, and also what the club does, in this case, study dark arts safely without judgment, also benefits herself.
Finally, after a really some time waiting, it's finally the day she got to pick the flower that she deems will bloom that night. Blake knew that tonight, the moon will be totally dark according to the moon cycle she had been following since the beginning. She found that the darkness would help her a lot more to sneak around the school ground without being sported by others.
Blake had successfully snitched a broom from her previous flying class while the teacher did all the checking with those brooms, one which she hid carefully under some bushes near the tree. But here's the thing, Blake had really focus on her flying lesson and take some extra time in the library studies about flying, but there was just no way to help her with flying, Blake constantly fail her flying class.
Without her flying skill perfected, Blake has to proceed with the plan tonight anyway. The flower only blooms once and the darkest night when no one can see her had come, Blake wouldn't miss this chance for the world. So that night, Blake sneaked out of the Gryffindor dorm, ignore the Fat lady query, almost got caught twice by a professor, trip over some rocks multiple times because of the rush of adrenaline taken over her sight, Blake finally reached the bush and found the broom lying there waiting for her.
Took one final long breath, Blake sat on the broom, ready for the stupidest thing she would ever do in her life, maybe she does have some Gryffindor in her blood despite the hatred she has for the house.
"Up!" She chanted and jump, it's good that the tallest tree in Hogwarts' ground is far from the castle enough that a little shouting wouldn't alert anyone. The broom absolutely listens to none of her prayers happened in her head the moment she took off as it was shaking none stop, which is exactly what she is thinking right that moment, shaking and scared to leave the beloved surface full of grass and dirt, but Blake had to keep going, she tried her best remember what is she doing this for and didn't let the fear overtake her mind, Blake was so close to the Cereus when she reached an arm for the flower, but that also means that there was only one hand controlling the broom. The moment she picked the exotic-looking flower out of its green cacti branch and put it into her bag would be the when she loose control of the broom.
"Whoaaaaa whoa, broom! Now is not the time to rest, stop shaking!" But the broom has no ears for Blake's complain and proceed to crash, in a split second, Blake decided, against her instinct to not grab the tree branch with thorny vines of Cereus on it.
Red drops of blood bloomed from her hand because of the small needle-like thorns. It hurt, really hurt, her bone made a little sound like it's giving up, every nerve she has in her body are screaming, begging her to let go of the branch. But falling from the sky is not an option either, heart beating faster and faster in her chest, Blake was scared, for the first time in her life, too scared to move even a little, even though she has the broom still on her other hand, the Cereus flower in her bag, she was too scared to let go of the branch and mount the broom to get back to the ground.
She thought of the reason why she was trying to get the flower on the highest tree of the Hogwarts ground. She thought why could she be such a coward, freeze like a dummy when danger comes, she's doing nothing, a useless doll stuck on an old shelf.
She's no doll, Blake always thought of a reason why she joined the dark witch society, she told herself that is because she wants the knowledge. But what is that knowledge for? She doesn't know, but she will live to know, Blake told herself, there's one thing she still couldn't figure it out, her aim. Savannah lives for her ideal to change the world, Ruldofa lives to take care of her loved one. And Blake will find out what she will devote her life to.
So, the crazy Gryffindor, hanging on a branch of the tallest tree looked down to the ground facing her fear, her eyes vibrant a weird color, the violet color darken when she faces the freezing feeling like she is going to fall down from a hundred feets. But she embraced the fear, and without hesitation, the girl let go of the tree branch with the broom readied to fly.
She thought that she would fall free in the air with the stupid broom doesn't want to properly do its job. But she kept her eyes open bravely, after the staring contest with the ground from this high, Blake just stopped herself from feeling the fear nor anything anymore. And to her surprise, the broom did its job, for the first time, it actually flying and not at all, shaking. The cold breeze whistle beside her ears, the scent of the night air in her nostril is giving the girl a fresh and exciting feeling as she looked at the castle from this height, this indescribable feeling that she could only experience once in her life.
"Well, flying class might not be too bad" She said to herself with a whisper, she'll get back to her dorm in no time without being caught, take care of her bloody hand in the hospital wing with some pathetic excuse she could come up with. But now, let she take a moment, to know that, she is not afraid.
