A Familiar Face?
Word Count: 299 Date: January 25nd, 2025
@Elena DoughThe crisp, winter air was cool on Cassandra's face as she walked out towards the school grounds. It was a bit warmer today then it had been so she had decided it would be a good day to sit outside and sketch. It was earlier in the day, about right after breakfast and the grounds were fairly empty besides the occasional student walking to and from, possibly also enjoying the cool air. It was the weekend so she figured it would still be awhile before large groups of people started moving around which meant she could get in some drawing time.
Clutching her bag swung across her body close, she wandered around the grounds for a short while before finding a sturdy tree that would provide ample shade and a good place to sit. It was out of the way of the path but still provided a good view of the castle so she could see if large groups of people were starting to come out which would signal to her that it was time to go and do something else. It wasn't that she minded being around large groups but she would rather have someplace out of the way of the major foot traffic when it came to her sketching time, at least for the moment.
Carefully setting her bag down on the ground, she sat beside it with her back to the tree and took out one of her sketchbooks and a pencil. Tapping her pencil on the paper in thought, she looked out across the grounds in an attempt to figure out what to sketch. Eventually, she decided she would just simply sketch one of the other large trees that decorated the school grounds. She quickly got to work, lost in her own little drawing world.
"There is no exquisite beauty without some strangeness."
