Slytherin M2 Bridget & Thora vs. Illowy & Alexx

One of Thora's eyes cracked open once more. Owwwww. What was that feeling? Her chest throbbed, like that time someone had punched her at Muggle school, but worse. The redhead's face flushed bright red as she moved her head gingerly and noticed almost everyone staring at her with concern, save the other duellers who looked... well, determined. 

With a groan of dismay, Thora finally realized why the world was sideways. She was on a stretcher. A stretcher. Which means she fainted. Ugh. Why did she have to be the one that fainted first? This was so embarrassing... 

The last thing the second year Slytherin remembered was being thrown back once more by Illowy's wand... crashing painfully into the rock-hard ground. Gulping in a quick breath as she was moved magically in midair, the girl tried not to move. First, she was paranoid that she would fall off, and second... it still hurt. 

Shooting a pained smile at Bridget, Thora tried to crack open her lips. "Good luck," she whispered. It was all she could muster, although there were so many things the redhead wanted to say. To laugh at her own fainting, to tell the brunette to beat the other team, to apologize for getting taken out so fast... But it was all the time she had. Brushing past the girls on the opposite team, the redhead couldn't help but keep her smile on. "Nice job, Illowy," she said weakly. After all, although Thora could hold a major grudge, it was only a duel. Any of the other three girls could've found themselves in Thora's place... The redhead fell back into the deep, dark realm of unconsciousness with the thought in mind.

Illowy couldn't help a swell of pride as her flippendo hit the girl square in the chest once more, sending her flying back to the ground once more. However, this time about, the girl didn't get up. Professor Vernatis paused the duel and it clicked in the girl's mind what exactly had happened. She'd managed to knock the first person out of the duel.

She was torn between showing her pride and showing her concern, so her expression remained neutral for the moment as Thora was moved to a stretched and carried off, though not before the red head offered the brunette a small smile on her way out.

"Nice job, Illowy,"

A small tugged slightly at the corner of her mouth and she gave the girl a wink, "Ye did good." it was all strictly in the name of sportsmanship after all; especially towards a housemate. After all, it was one thing to be pissed off or frustrated at your opponent during the duel, but those feelings had to find their end once one or the other was out.

As Thora was removed, it was a clear shift as all participant's mind returned to the match. No one was about to hesitate as the Professor announced it's resumption.

Bridget was clearly the last person ready to hesitate as she raised her burnt hand and flicked her wand in Illowy's direction. Any hint of emotion was void from her features once again and she narrowed her pale eyes and was quick to match her attack, "Incendio!"

"Incendio!"

The moment the duel resumed, three consecutive Incendios shot out of each girl's wand. Both @Alexx Séverin and @Illowy Magnard fired their fiery spells at @Bridget Collins, who fired one back herself. Unfortunately, Bridget's Incendio failed to connect with her snotty target. Illowy managed to dodge the spell successfully just as her own spell connected to hit Bridget. Thankfully, she wasn't on fire again, but Bridget did manage to take a lot of damage from the attack. She was breathing heavily as she shook out the part of her body that Incendio connected with, but it didn't keep her down as the brunette successfully managed to dodge Alexx's Incendio Duo spell that was aimed at her.

"Had that spell connected with Miss Collins, she would have joined her partner in the Hospital Wing. Spectacular dodging," Artemis said to himself. He looked carefully at the three duelists and wondered how much longer Miss Magnard would fare in this duel. A student behind him asked the very same question as they all observed how lucky Illowy was with her accuracy, despite her active cold that should have been slowing her down. "Miss Magnard has about three or four more rounds before that cold takes over and knocks her out. I can only imagine how stuffed up she was at this very moment. If they do not knock Miss Collins out in the next few rounds, Miss Magnard will also join Miss Larkston in the Hospital Wing."

That was one gift that Thora Larkston left her partner. The Curse of the Bogies was a nasty spell and if not treated properly, it could possibly kill the person it was placed upon. It seemed that Illowy Magnard managed to focus on her spell casting though as each and every one of her spells seemed to connect regardless of her sluggish accuracy.

The round, it had been nothing but flames from every angle of the trio of snakes; and for a moment, Illowy took the time to wonder if the sweat on her brow was from the Incendios cast, or from a fever setting in from the curse Thora had left her with. Right now, she wanted to blame the fire.

For the entirety of this duel, Illowy had been doing her best to ignore the symptoms of the bogies curse, figuring the more she ignored it and focused, the better off she would be; and that seemed to be working in her favor. The muttering of her teacher and peer about how long she might last under the curse only brought the problem to the forefront of her mind once more.

Her nose was completely stopped up by this point, and red from using her sleeve to wipe at her nose, making her wonder how long she'd been absentmindedly breathing through her mouth; just as well, her efforts to suppress her sneeze was slowly becoming split between suppressing the need to start coughing. This curse was wearing on her body, she knew it, and if she and Alexx didn't get their housemate knocked out quickly, Illowy would be the next to be carried out.

Pushing the thoughts back to the depths of her mind, Illowy gave a small twirl of her wand, as thought resetting her mind back into the duel and quickly took aim. Now was not the time to get into her head. Now was the time to prove that she wasn't going to be easily taken down, "Flippendo!"

Things were not looking up for Bridget. Her spell, her last chance of even having a hope for winning, had missed. Somehow Illowy still managed to land her Fire-Making Spell despite the cold that was overtaking her. On the bright side, she wasn't on fire, Alexx had missed, and she was still conscious.

She was vaguely aware of Professor Vernatis' comment on Illowy only having three or four more rounds. The problem was, she doubted she would make it that long. She had barely managed to dodge Alexx's spell--her breathing was coming in pained gasps and any movement caused her to wince--how could she possibly evade two? Besides, this could very well be her last round and she was going out on a spell, not a failed dodge.

Hitting Illowy simply didn't feel right. She had actually showed sportsmanship, unlike Alexx, who, of all things she could do, smirked when Thora was taken out on a stretcher. Besides, the second year was struggling to breathe. Bridget was afraid Flipendo might knock the wind out of her, and then who knew if she would be able to get that air back? And if she was set on fire, she might have to use Extinguo, which literally cut off the oxygen until the flames died.

Chances are, this would be Bridget's last round. If she got knocked unconscious, she at least wanted Alexx to get hit one more time. But what would be the point of that? If she somehow managed to survive this round, attacking Alexx wouldn't do much good. At least if she hit Illowy she could get her to the Hospital Wing faster...

"Incendio!" she yelled, her spell directed towards Illowy.

But at the last minute, her wand shifted, pointing straight at Alexx.

Action: Cast the Fire-Making Spell (Incendio Duo) at Alexx Severin

Alexx groaned at not being able to catch Bridget on fire. This duel was painfully boring, and now, she just wanted to leave. Alexx pointed her wand to Bridget once more and announced "Expelliarmus!", attempting to disarm her once more. Damn, she just wanted one spell to work. One spell that would just work against Bridget, and instead in her favor. It was irritating that Alexx was being kicked down by a second year. That should never happen to someone of her skill set.

Artemis watched carefully as @Bridget Collins aimed her wand purposefully at her year mate, ready to cast her spell. But at the last moment, she turned her wand toward the older Slytherin girl and yelled out "Incendio!". Artemis wasn't so surprised at the change of direction, but he could imagine that @Alexx Séverin was a bit shocked by that. The older girl was instantly set on fire, but at the same time that the fiery spell left her opponent's wand, her own spell had left her wand which connected with the younger girl. Bridget's wand, after the girl was hit with the disarming spell, went flying through the air to land a few feet away. With her opponents slinging spells at her constantly, Artemis figured it would take a while before Bridget Collins would be able to grab her wand again. Thankfully for the young Slytherin, @Illowy Magnard's spell sputtered out of her wand and fell flat, possibly due to her increasing cold. Bridget was quite lucky that all she managed to lose was her wand and not more stamina.

If Alexx was set on fire one more time, she would have a fit. Did this girl not know any other spells? Seriously, there was far, far worse that she could probably do to Alexx, and she decided to set her aflame every other round. She was an awfully boring dueler, that was for sure. Alexx hoped that in the future, she wouldn't have to duel her again if all she was going to do was set her on fire.

Sighing, Alexx aimed her wand at herself. She had some time, anyway. And her small victory was due to a spell of hers actually working, so there was at least that. In any case, this meant that she had hopes for her own extinguishing spell to work on her this time. Unless, of course, it didn't. Which, in that case, she would be very upset. She was better than this! How on earth was she doing so poorly? It had to just be nerves. Her first duel ever, and her confidence was shattered by nerves. It was humiliating. She could only hope none of her rivals were here to watch this.

"Extinguo!" She announced, her wand still pointed at herself. If this didn't work, she would be severly disappointed. She did not want to end up like Thora. She wanted to finish this.

For a moment, Illowy was stunned that Bridget redirected her spell so last minute and her partner was suddenly aflame again. She could only imagine Alex's own anger about the cast, but at least her own spell had landed, sending Bridget's wand flying off somewhere a couple feet away; leaving Bridget open. By Merlin, it would have been much more gratifying if Illowy's own spell had managed to land.

But at least she'd been granted two gifts; Bridget had no wand for a moment, and she, herself, wasn't distracted and dealing with fire. She would have to work fast, as much as she'd like to keep Bridget away from her wand long enough for Alexx to get herself back to rights to help her finish Bridget off, Illowy was running on borrowed time before Curse of the Bogies over took her; and she'd be damned if she didn't see her first duel to the very end.

"Incendio!" she cried, flicking her wand towards Bridget.

Action: Cast Incendio at Bridget

Surprisingly, Bridget was still conscious. She'd lost her wand due to Alexx's Expelliarmus, which was going to be a major disadvantage, but at the very least, she wasn't being carried off to the Hospital Wing. Besides, Illowy only had two or three rounds until the Curse of the Bogies knocked her out. Three or four rounds had seemed just out of reach, but two or three? That seemed almost manageable.

Her Incendio Duo had hit its target and Alexx had some very large flames licking at her robes. Surprisingly, the third year looked unconcerned. Bored even, as though she'd been ignited hundreds of times and extinguishing herself was a mundane activity, even though she'd only been aflame twice. But now wasn't the time to puzzle over Alexx. Right now, she needed to find her wand.

Cautiously, Bridget scanned her peripheral vision, scared to ignore her opponents for even a second. What a pathetic way to lose that would be--'Bridget Collins was looking for her wand and never even saw the spell coming'.

The laurel wand was nowhere in sight--no doubt it was behind her. She was about to risk a check when flames came hurtling towards her. Without a second thought, Bridget dove out of the way.
