Slytherin M2 Bridget & Thora vs. Illowy & Alexx

Alexx was... Well, in shock, sort of. Things weren't exactly going her way. It was frustrating. Her ass was getting kicked by some little kids. Finally deciding that enough was enough, it was time to try for some real action. Alexx was more than fed up now. All she could hope was that this would actually work. Furrowing her eyebrows, she pointed her wand at Bridget.

"Incendio!" She announced, smirking. An eye for an eye. That was her policy from now on.

ACTIONS:

Illowy truly had a terrible temper, though she did her best to keep it under control in the best of times. Right now hardly seemed like the moment to completely lose her head in frustration before she did something counteractive, especially given her multiple disadvantages by this point as she was hit with the tickling charm. The sensation filled to the point that she couldn't help but laugh straight from her gut; just as well it seemed to aggravate her previous curse of the bogies, triggering a short chain of sneezing whilst laughing.

Honestly, she figured that must be the worst combination she'd ever experienced.

Pull yourself together, she scolded herself, forcing herself as much as possible to suppress the need to sneeze and laugh long enough to manage out a spell as she flicked her wand towards Thora "Flipendo!"

5th Round

Artemis was, for lack of a better word, shocked at how well each girl's spell connected with their intended targets. He was sure that Miss @Illowy Magnard was happy to see herself floating back to the ground as the concentration from Bridget's Wingardium Leviosa and Thora's Rictusempra faded. Of course, before she could fully float to the platform below, Miss @Thora Larkston sent a successful Incendio right at the prone girl, hitting her with the fiery spell. Miraculously, Illowy avoided being set on fire like her partner, though she did still suffer from the initial burn of the spell. Quick as a shot, she fired back a Flippendo at the other second year which connected spectacularly, shooting the young Thora across the platform. The girl looked quite worn out, breathing heavily as her stamina was dwindling faster and faster. If her luck didn't turn around, she would be the first student from this duel sent to the Hospital Wing today.

"Amazing. I don't think I would want to duel either of these fierce girls if they were older," Artemis commented with a smirk.

Meanwhile, the other two Slytherins were shooting off their own spells, one cast by Miss @Alexx Séverin that connected rather fiercely on Miss @Bridget Collins. The strong Incendio Duo spell that Alexx released from her wand connected and instantly set her underclassman aflame. Fighting through the burning pain and the fires licking at her robes, Bridget called out her own spell, Spongify, which connected with Alexx's arm. The older Slytherin's arm instantly felt strange. Springy, soft, and wobbly, Alexx's arm wouldn't stay straight long enough for another spell to off immediately. She would have to raise her arm and immediately cast a spell, praying and hoping that the spell would cast successfully and connect with her target the next time she chose to shoot a spell at her opponents. Artemis flinched as he saw the young second year attempt to fight off the flames licking at her skin and robes. Maybe she too would attempt to put the flames out with the extinguishing charm she learned in Herbology.

This was an amazing duel, Artemis definitely couldn't refute that.

For every win, there was always a loss. However, Alexx had been losing quite a lot recently. But for the first time this whole match, she had landed a hit on someone. But almost as soon as that had happened, her arm felt like jelly. She swore in French under her breath, cursing the girl who was currently aflame. "For we receive the due reward of our deeds," She quoted in a low voice, one that she assumed only she could hear. She had heard that quote somewhere, and she thought that it might have been religious. Though she wasn't religious herself, she felt as though it applied. Alexx had been rather studious all three years of Hogwarts. It was about time these things paid off.

Raising her arm to the best of her ability, she aimed it at herself. "Finite Incantatem!" She announced. Alexx had quickly decided that once her arm was back, she would make Bridget pay for the round loss.

ACTIONS:
Cast General Counter Spell on Herself

Illowy was more then thankful that her opponents' spells were wearing off, at least the Levitation and Tickling charm were, but that was more then enough for the Irish girl. She could deal with the snot and sniffles for now. However, before her feet could even hit the platform, flames were shot at her. The girl moved to try to dodge it, but the flames still caught her and licked at her hand; but at least that was all she'd gotten, her clothes failing to ignite.

The snake shook out her hand for a moment, cursing under her breath. She'd be fine though, it wasn't the first time dealing with burns, but at least the spell she'd cast hit the other beautifully, throwing Thora across the platform. Finally, endless practice and studies finally paying off in her favor.

Illowy wiped at her nose with her sleeve before standing a little taller, moving more confidently feeling that she'd finally found her footing as she raised her wand at Thora once more, hoping to get her while she was still down. What was the saying again? All's fair in love and war.

"Flippendo!"

Action: Cast Flippendo at Thora

Finding herself in a daze on the cold floor again, Thora hurried back to her feet. How could she have been hit again by Illowy's Flipendo? Wow, it was the second time now. On the bright side, at least the redhead's spell had hit. The second year across from her had been burnt but didn't stay aflame. Well, that was good. Although it was a duel, Thora didn't duel to seriously maim people. And... both of Thora's Rictusempra and Bridget's Levitating Charm had worn off of Illowy. Great. 

Glancing at her partner, Bridget, the redhead grimaced. The brunette was aflame, orange-yellow flames licking at her robes. Hopefully she was smart enough to extinguish herself fast. 

As Illowy called "Flipendo" again, wand aimed at Thora, the redhead froze. Uh oh... Thora's movements already felt slowed and knew she wouldn't last much longer. Desperately hoping she could survive the spell, she leapt to the side, trying to avoid the cold beam of light that would put Thora in the Hospital Wing.

Action | Dodge Illowy's Spell!!

A transparent display of orange and red with flashes of blue illuminated Bridget's robes, and it took her a full second to realize what had happened. And then the pain came and everything made sense. Alexx's Incendio--well, Incendio Duo as revealed by the green light--had landed and she was on fire.

The brown-haired girl wondered why this was the first spell she'd thought to cast. Perhaps it was because her name was derived from the Irish goddess of, among other things, fire. Maybe she had subconsciously wanted to practice this spell that hadn't received much use. This was, after all, a safe place to cast it, what with a professor on hand and a Hospital Wing that could easily mend any injuries. But still, this wasn't the sort of thing Bridget would usually even imagine hitting someone with. For that matter, why did Hogwarts teach this spell to First Years when if even the tiniest thing went wrong, mass destruction could follow?

Her eyes watered from pain reminiscent of when she'd accidentally touched the stove when she was younger, except all over her body and more intense. And then her ears became aware of the yelling of the crowd that until now she'd been able to ignore. She froze, temporarily scared out of her wits from stage fright and the fact she was on fire, an experience people generally didn't appreciate.

'Snap out of it,' she commanded herself. A quick glance to her right showed Thora picking herself up off the ground yet again. Her partner seemed rather pale and her breathing was coming in quick gasps. Thora needed her--two Flipendos and an Incendio was probably about all she could handle without it taking a serious toll. She wanted to take out Illowy to draw her off her partner so at the very least Thora could catch a break, but there was still the small issue of her being used as fuel.

First things first, she needed to get these flames put out. They were making it hard for her to focus. She knew the Extinguishing Charm, but as the spell was still fairly new to her and she'd seen Alexx's attempt fail, she didn't want to risk it. She had to get herself out this round--despite the fact her spell casting had been quite successful so far she wasn't taking any chances. Her Muggle school instructions kicked in and the small girl dropped to the floor and rolled until every last flame was gone.

6th Round

The Spell DC for this test is:

This round was a bit more strategic in the sense that three of the four girls decided to play smart and go on the defensive rather than the offensive. @Alexx Séverin successfully cast Finite Incantatem on herself, ending the enchantment that her opponent's Spongify had on her arm. In return, @Bridget Collins was rolling around the platform floor and patting herself with her hands to put out the fire that was on her robes. Artemis winced as he was sure that the method of extinguishing was going to add a bit more pain to the young girl before she could get off the floor. But at least the fire was out.

@Illowy Magnard, Artemis noticed, was a force to be reckoned with, especially if angered. With another flick of her wand and a shout of "Flippendo", she shot the jinx out once more at @Thora Larkston. The young second year would do her very best to dodge the upcoming attack, but with her stamina so low she was only able to shift her feet in the direction she wished to move before the spell collided with her chest once more. Thora Larkston was out of the duel, her stamina completely depleted.

Artemis held up one hand to halt the other girls as he walked out from behind the barrier and over to the collapsed girl. Kneeling beside her, he ran his wand over her form to see if there were any serious injuries that would prevent him from lifting the child. Nothing seemed amiss, though the Charms professor was sure that she would have a bruise under her robes from the three consecutive Flippendos thrown at her. That would be something the nurse could check out once she was there. Flicking his wand again, Artemis conjured a stretcher under the girl and waved his wand once more to make the stretcher float before moving back behind the barrier the nearly unconscious girl over to a pair of older students who volunteered to help the injured to the Hospital Wing.

Addressing the room, Artemis said, "Miss Larkston has fainted! The duel is now Miss Collins vs Miss Séverin and Miss Magnard! The best of luck to both teams and may the best duelist win! Continue!"

Bridget rose to her feet, the last of the flames extinguished. Even though no one had sent a spell her way this round, what she saw made her feel like she'd been hit in the stomach by Flipendo. Thora was on the ground again and this time she didn't get up. Professor Vernatis paused the duel and her wand momentarily lowered. She wanted more than anything to make sure Thora was alright but she knew in a few seconds she would have to fight again.

Her chances of standing much longer looked pretty slim. Of course, Alexx's spells had to start succeeding now when it was two against one. The third year didn't even look winded after being both on fire and hit with Spongify.

What to do now? Dodging wouldn't do any good other than delaying her doom. She had to take one of them out. Illowy was suffering from sniffles and had been affected by several other spells so she'd probably be exhausted first. Besides, the second year was proving to be far deadlier in terms of casting.

She didn't want to, but she saw no choice but to use fire again. It was the only thing she could think of to both distract her opponents and drain their energy. She raised her wand once again, wincing from the contact of the wood on her scorched hands. "Incendio!" she yelled. Yelling felt good, releasing both her nerves at having both the other duelers attack her and her anger at them, Illowy in particular, for hurting Thora. Yes, they were all doing exactly what was expected in a duel, but that didn't keep the event devoid of emotion.

This time she wasn't casting Incendio though. She was attempting at Incendio Duo. Sure, it was a risk, considering she'd only just learned it, but her willpower for it to succeed and the necessity for something big gave her fuel. This could be over fast, but Bridget was going to make the most of every moment and hopefully prove she could hold her own.

Action: Cast the Fire-Making Spell (Incendio Duo) at Illowy Magnard

Heck. Yes. This duel would surely be a breeze now that one opponent was down. Now that Alexx's arm was back, she smirked, aiming her wand at Bridget. "Incendio!" She dittoed the other girl, hoping that hers would catch and be more successful. She wasn't going to let her partner go down too. Especially not with two against one. That just wouldn't be fair.
