The library fantasy Closed

Maria sat in the farthest corner of the library, her eyes glued to the pages of the book in front of her, though her thoughts were miles away. She’d been here for five and a half days, isolated, away from everyone, yet consumed by the same thoughts every day. Her crush, sitting across the room, was always the center of her thoughts. They were everything she wasn’t—confident, popular, effortlessly glowing—and yet, Maria couldn’t help but stare at them every chance she got. Every small movement, every laugh, every glance... it made her heart race, but also made her feel invisible. How could someone like her—shy, reserved, and quiet—ever have a chance with someone like them?

No, it’s ridiculous, she thought. They’d never notice me. I’m not... like them.

She tapped her fingers nervously on the edge of the book, debating with herself for what felt like hours. What if I just... ask? What if they reject me? What if I mess it up?

She sighed heavily, closing the book with a soft thud. She stood up, her feet moving toward them almost without her conscious decision. I have to try. I want a chance... just to see if it could be real.

Taking a deep breath, Maria stood tall, her heart pounding in her chest as she walked toward her crush. Every step felt like an eternity, but she kept going. She was going to do this—she was going to find the courage.
