It seems that luck is not just a trivial thing that can be ignored by every sports player in the wizarding world. Sere didn't know how many times she had heard what people said about luck, and she tried not to absolutely confirm what she heard to maintain the good perception of luck itself in her mind. But no matter how hard Sere tried to block it, the truth about everything she heard about luck was presented in front of her. Right now, when two identical spells were cast and ended with different results.

How could her -seemed to be- stronger spell missed that easily? The answer might be Kim's evasion. But what about Kim's spell? Sere was confident that she could evade it but the speed of the Incendio Duo was beyond her expectations and hit her perfectly, burning the edge of her robe. This felt hotter than the Incendio she learned in her first year.

The girl wiped her sweat. She needed that winter snow right now. The heat made her squirm uncomfortably, her left hand brushing her hair off to behind her back. As what Kim said, something inside her was also heating up. She might have ignored her senior's words to take the positive side out of what had just happened. Sere thought really hard, almost lost her sanity, weighing the choices of actions she could take in the next round. In less than ten seconds, Sere glanced at Raizel and waited for the signal for the next round. She was ready.

Sere was quick to think of a solution to her clothes being set on fire. With a wave of her wand, she had immediately put it out with an Extinguishing Charm. Just goes to show how much she had grown as a duellist since their last duel and that growth was fascinating to see. She sure hopes she continues to be successful, unlike her who kept on attracting bad luck, one who had never had a chance to win any of her duels no matter what. Disappointing. It was a thought that briefly brought a frown on her face as she watched.

Kim fired his own spell at the same time that Sere put out the flame on her clothes, a spell that she rarely sees in the duelling games. The only times she did was during a couple of unofficial duels. That 2v2v2 she had before against a couple of students from other houses, Lea using it in the unofficial duel she had as well and now this. Sere would feel herself being lifted off of the ground, the spell dragging her up through her shirt.That was not all, that spell was a lot stronger than the ones others used before. It took the younger Gryffindor higher than normally, her feet couldn’t even reach the floor now. It’s gonna be hard dodging any spells in her current situation but then again, Kim would need to release her to even cast a different one. Still, falling from that height gotta hurt when it happens.

There was no need to put a stop to it just yet though. Sere still has fight left in her even in a bad situation like this and she will definitely learn a lot more if she keeps on going, keep on fighting. There was still a chance she could turn this around.

The next step that Sere could think of was to extinguish the heat that was gnawing her. The girl didn't feel like she would be able to hold on longer with the flame at the edge of her robe. Moreover, it was starting to spread upwards. "Extinguo!" The spell was casted on herself without thinking much. Fortunately, it worked! She got the fresh air again and the hot sensation had lifted.

"Wait... W-whoa!"

Sere didn't know what Kim was thinking. Did the senior want to make her feel fresher air by making her floating in the air? Or did he want to make her look like The Burning God (because it would definitely looked like that if she wasn't choose to extinguish the fire)? Or did he just want to play some tricks on her? One clear thing was that this wasn't the kind of spell that someone would cast if they wanted to finish off their opponent easily and quickly. Kim was certainly either playing around or genuinely wanted to make her learn some new things, and Sere had just realized it by now.

Sere indeed felt like she was learning a lot at this point, seeing her weak accuracy and evasion that couldn't even be compared to her senior's. She wanted to win in the Fall Games and this practice was one of the path she had to take. Kim's movements: his accuracy and evasion were two things Sere observed and would study more after this match, but not with his -joking- spell choices.

One important question: what should Sere do with her current situation? She didn't even remember ever experiencing this before. Think harder, Sere!

There was a sputter on Kim’s wand. Raizel thought his spell just decided to make its caster its victim instead of its intended target but that didn’t happen. It was a relief for the young Gryffindor even if she wasn’t the one doing the casting. A failed spell was one that she had feared up to now, one of the reasons why she had worked on her own spellcasting to prevent it from happening. It was degrading, leaving you with a sickening feeling of failure. As if missing your intended target wasn’t hard enough, imagine failing to cast anything and backfiring. She shudders at that thought.

Despite the not so good casting, Kim’s spell still did its work. After Sere freed herself from the Levitation Charm which she probably didn’t have to since Kim was dropping it to cast a different one, she would find herself at the mercy of a tickling sensation as Rictusempra took hold of her next. The girl sure wasn’t given any chance to take a break but such is the cruelty of duelling. You don’t get breaks unless the opponent misses their shots. Oh no, you are in constant suffering and you have to endure that until the duel ends or you fall unconscious and find yourself within the confines of the Hospital Wing once you wake up.

"Ugh, it hurts!" Sere clenched her teeth as she fell and her back hit the surface of the piste. The floor felt strangely cold compared to the heat of the match, well, at least that was for her, although Kim might not think the same.

One positive thing that Sere could take from this round was the practice in using The General Counter Spell. This was her first time casting Finite Incantatem on the piste and thank God it worked. At this point, Sere came to the realization that what she could learned -and would learn- from this practice duel was all about counters and nullifications, plus mental training to once again faced the result that were not in-line with her expectation.

Sere had tried to avoid The Tickling Charm, really. But no matter how good her evasion was, Kim's spells felt overly perfect, like it would always hit the target. Sere fell once again, this time crouched down, laughing. She just let out her laugh this time. This situation was really funny, she was similar to a punching bag, welcoming all attacks with open hands.

At least this things happened in an unofficial duel. That was her only consolation. She hoped that her efforts would result better in the sooner Fall Games.
