To spend detention with Boniface MacTavish meant that you would be punished in unconventional ways. While certain students might have desired to just get it on with, being placed in a study hall, made to write sentences 100 times, or perhaps even break down the exact math and science of Transfiguration, Boniface Murtagh MacTavish did not care to host such boring and uneventful methods of punishment. While it is true that you reap what you sow, he believed that manual labor was the best way to make an impression stick. The two girls would not soon forget the aches and pains that came with a hard days work.
That was why he set this detention up in the way that he did. Perhaps the two and their art had inspired him. While he didn't want to claim inspiration from an act of vandalism, he would never deny the talent. There was an interest in the heart of the girls, one that would not soon die. He wanted to feed creativity, but send the message that there were other places to indulge in desirable activities. Other places in need of art. Legal methods, too.
As the girls approached the greenhouses, he smiled. "Good afternoon, ladies." He greeted them, a sarcastic and pleased expression painted on his face. "I see ye received my owl. Good. I hope ye didn't make any plans for the evening because this will likely take most of yer Saturday." The Saturday afternoon sun was still beating down, but it would be alright.
He waved his hand, motioning for them to follow. He brought them into the first greenhouse, where they were presented with an array of paints. The wall was completely blank, completed with stone, and absolutely no windows, so there was plenty of room for designs if they wished to add those. There was a box filled with many different types of brushes, varying in shape and size. Then, for each of them, a paint scraper.
Sometime within the past few years, a white coat had been bestowed upon the wall. It was grimy and chipping, so the girls would have to scrape it off if they ever hoped to make it look better. "I assume artists such as yerself know what these tools are for. Get tae work." He commanded, nodding at the wall.
Both of you are required a minimum of 3 posts, 300 words each. You do not have to wait for me to reply before posting again. You cannot make new RP threads until this detention is complete and you have both left the thread.

Margo sighed. Detention was such a boring way to spend one's time. There were so many other things she could be doing just then, like making some clothes, eating blackberries, talking to fellow Slytherins in the great hall, etc. The list was endless really. She felt bad for Professor MacTavish too. After all, he probably had much better things to do than supervise two rebellious pranksters in detention as well. So... what was the point in them being punished? Margo asked herself. She doubted that it would change any of her or Marla's future rule breaking decisions, and she already knew that there were rules against their actions- that was why they'd done it in the middle of the night in the first place.@Marla Quinlan, @Boniface Murtagh MacTavish
Margo glanced over at Marla, trying to see if the metamorphagus shared her views. At least they both knew what the other looked like now... well looked like most of the time in Marla's case. There was no point in secrecy when they'd already been caught. It had been worth it though, Margo supposed, to have so much fun in the earliest hours of the morning. The thrill of their adventure, and the beauty of their creation had been a feeling like no other- but to have seen their combined effort being washed away at the flick of a wand had been a little depressing.
Margo opened her mouth to ask the professor if they could speak but then thought better about it. He hadn't said that they couldn't and Margo didn't want to make him consider it. Personally, she thought he was being rather nice. Painting wasn't that bad of a punishment. Sure, their wrists might ache after hours of scraping, but it could've been something a lot worse. For example, Margo hadn't much liked Ruby Cazares' idea of an entertaining detention, even if they were on slightly better terms now.
In fact, Margo thought so well of the prof that she even thought about not doing what had plagued her mind since they'd been given the task. Unfortunately, she was Margo, and she was stubborn with herself, let alone anybody else. So, with a mischievous grin on her face, she dipped her fingers in one of the many pots of paint and flicked a little at Marla when she thought that MacTavish wasn't looking. Imagine how horrible it would be to be caught making trouble when you were already in detention! But then again... she never could resist a little fun.
'The game is on!' was the message in her eyes as she internally pleaded Marla Quinlan to be her partner in crime once again.

[quote]There were worse things in life than something as trivial as detention. However, the girl couldn't help but sulk on her way over to the greenhouse. This couldn't be as bad as cleaning up blood and glass in the abandoned bathrooms after the bombing incident, however, she still didn't associate the greenhouse with good things. Last time she stepped foot in there, it went disastrously. So this.. Is not her first detention with Professor MacTavish. And if he still wants to be a complete dick, most likely not her last.
And so, eventually, she made her way into the dumb greenhouse. While walking towards the tall, infamously annoying figure, she glanced at a spot in the space that looked extremely familiar and was convinced it was where she fell and burnt the nettle a few weeks ago. She took a sharp inhale and turned away from the now empty spot of the building. At last, she was with the fellow lion and sly snake. Taking a peek at the girl beside her, it hit Marla that this was the first time she was actually seeing her face. Short, brown hair and equally stunning brown eyes, it was a shame she put a mask on when they had first met... But also quite relieving because she would have stumbled over her words like a maniac.
While she kind of blocked out the professor's words, thick with a Scottish accent that even she had trouble understanding, you only needed half a brain to figure out what to do with the stuff that was in front of you. In this case, it was to paint. There were varying colors of every kind, as well as paintbrushes. And while Boniface was most definitely not her favorite professor, this detention would certainly be. In front of them was a blank stone wall, but she could already picture the majestic designs that the two would paint on it. However, it looked quite... Shabby, especially with a strange white coating that had formed over years of wear. If they were going to be here for a while, they might as well get to work. The small first-year grabbed a scraper out of the mess of tools after a few minutes of sifting through, and made her way towards the wall.
Thankfully, the grime was not too hard to get off. She was not the strongest, and in all honesty, quite gangly, so if it were any more stuck to the wall, it would be practically impossible to remove. In fact, it was more tedious than difficult, considering that there was tons of it. She let out a small groan, shaking her wrists out which were already cramping, and was about to get back to work before she felt a splash of something on her face. She furrowed her brows, smearing it off her face, expecting the liquid to be some sort of dew or water from the roof of the building, but instead, it was..Paint? Smelled like it, looked like it, and there were about a hundred buckets of it right in front of her. Taking a small glance at Margo, she was looking right at Marla with a mischievous intent, and knew exactly where this was going. A grin crept upon her face as she made for a brush, dipping it in paint, and flicking the bristles when MacTavish wasn't looking straight at Margo.
Maybe this wouldn't be so terrible.
