Butterflies. One of the worlds most mysterious creatures. Yet one of the most annoying. Their vivid colors and delicate dance did not disguise the fact that they were a nuisance. They were things best kept in shadowboxes. Thats what Xailah did. She kept dead bugs in shadow boxes for show. Now, I know what you may be thinking and- no, she does not kill them. She is many things but she is not sick in the head. Bugs live, and breath in the same air that humans do; and therefore deserve all chances just like anyone else. But to be fair, they were fun to chase and try to catch.
The large butterfly fluttered over where Xailah was. It landed on waves of deep brown locks, and crawled its way down to her face. Its twiggy little legs grasped at her bangs, and black frames of he glasses. Her glasses. It crawled all over her glasses and- the lenses. Not the lenses. "Ssshoo." She waved a hand at it. The butterfly fluttered away, leaving behind a little smudge on her glasses. It was a pain that only glasses wearers would understand. She took them off and rubbed furiously at the smear.
The butterfly would return yet again. It landed on her head. Again. She let out a low gurgle, before shaking the thing off. She pulled the over sized suit coat that she had been wearing; over her head to avoid the feeling of tiny little legs tug at her hair. Butterflies were annoying. There was no way of convincing her otherwise. The butterfly returned once more, but before it landed, she made a swing at it. The coat came over her head, and down on the flying menace. She caught it- or not. She thought she got it, but somehow via teleportation or small portals, the insect escaped. The thing found is way back to her head. It was then, the childish and animalistic part of her mind took the reins. Pupils shrank into inky little crescent moons. Nostrils flared. She pounced and missed. She chased the bug, and sometimes it chased her. She was doing what people her age did best. She was being a child.

Before me, you rightly tremble. But, fear is not what you owe me. You owe me awe....

Elizabeth had thought Professor Griffith would simply let her keep what she had assumed was a voodoo doll - at least until they returned to the castle. Instead, he not only snatched it away from her, but he proceeded to fling Illowy into some nearby bushes like some kind of savage. ”Hey!” the Hufflepuff had exclaimed, running toward her friend and kneeling down beside her. She had appeared okay - or at least there were no additional injuries - so Elizabeth had turned back to the professor, glaring at him as she put a comforting arm around her friend. He was saying something, but the only thing that really made sense was something about the doll having “dark magic” in it. The rest sounded like utter nonsense, and Elizabeth was struck with the thought that all the fear and stress of the night had taken its toll on him. Professor Griffith had lost his mind.
A wave of pity and concern washed over the Hufflepuff, but before she even had a chance to ask him if he was alright, he had grabbed her and stuffed her back into his pocket, where she landed with a thud on the ground. "Not again," Elizabeth groaned, standing up once again and staring up at the hole. Shortly after, Illowy came tumbling in as well, and she sat looking dazed for a few moments before laying down and falling asleep. Elizabeth patted her gently on the shoulder a few times, but ultimately let her rest. At least she's safe. At least we're all here together, she thought, looking around at the others. Her eyes rested on Xailah, who seemed to be playing with a butterfly. It looked like fun, and Elizabeth was tempted to join, but her thoughts shifted back to the professor. What was he going on about? Was he indeed losing his mind? Would he be able to get them back to the castle? What if he was attacked? Her forehead creased with worry, and she peered up at the hole. She doubted he would allow her outside. If she tried to leave, he would probably just stuff her back in, but perhaps it would be fine if she watched from inside. She nodded. Yes, that's what I'll do, she thought, as she stood back up and began walking toward the ladder. Quickly, she climbed to the top and peered through the opening, ready to warn the others if she saw anything suspicious.
