Dear Declan,
I wish I could send you all of my love. I wish I could get you to read the letters that I write. I wish I could send you love letters. But I can't. I write down the letters but they never reach you. They never even reach the owlery. But one day. Maybe. I might send you one. Love, Quinn.
Quinn looked at the letter then crumpled it and threw it into the fire. It was no use. She would never be able to send a letter to him. Not after the way the summer ended. She had the words but couldn't write them, couldn't send them. She needed courage. But she also needed to let go.
