Dear Mom...
The weather was absolutely fantastic. The summer sun shone, warm gusts of wind rustled the gold and red-colored leaves, and people were outside happily enjoying the warm days.
Still, there was winter in the mind of Reagan Callaghan. She sat feet stretched towards the enormous azure-colored Hogwarts lake and wished she could be anywhere else at the moment.
A nicely wrinkled, half-finished letter rested on her lap with black ink smeared all over it as if the owner would want to erase a mistake.
-Dear Mum. I'm sorry.-was the first and only sentence.
The Callaghan family went to Hogwarts too. And they were very proud of it. At Christmas and birthday parties, her parents would brag about them being two Ravenclaws. They mentioned this to anyone and everyone. For centuries, the Callaghan family members would learn at Hogwarts and all be sorted into the same House: Ravenclaw. And of course, all of them being brilliant at attacking spells and history.
And then there was her. A living disgrace to the family: being given a wand that's perfect for defense spells, not attacking ones, being sorted into the least favorable house: Slytherin, and dreaming of becoming a potions master and a chaser. She crinkled the letter in her hands and threw it two steps away from her.
Reagan pulled her feet up to her chest and hid her face behind her knees. She may be a disappointment to her parents, but she'll fulfill her destiny. With Slytherin.

Dear Mom...
Ginny had been sitting by the Great Lake, underneath one of the trees, for quite a long time when a student she had never met before came. A girl. She seemed to be a first-year like Ginny herself, but unlike the blonde, this student had papers and a quill in her hands instead of a book.
Closing her novel, Ginny wondered what the student was going to do. Is she trying to do her homework by the lake?
Ginny shrugged. Perhaps it was not her business to find out about the girl's plan. The Great Lake and its air were free for every Hogwarts resident to enjoy, so why did Ginny have to worry? Reopening her book, the blonde tried to resume her reading, but this time she had troubles focusing on the words printed. There was something she caught in the student's face when she saw her from afar, something in her eyes.
Sadness.
Ginny was a private person and often preferred to be left alone when she was sad, but there were times when she felt better if someone accompanied her through sadness. Thus, the blonde decided to wait; and after quite a long time the new student did not leave or look happier, she walked towards the new girl. "Uh... hi. Hello. my name's Ginny."
