Where Has My Kitty Gone? PV Closed

Bright sunlight swept across the corridors of the castle. Clem meandered through the nearly empty halls, still engrossed in the beauty of the place. What could he say? He liked mornings, especially ones like these, where the world felt still except for small snatches of chatter and the sound of shoes on cobblestones. There wasn't a specific destination he had in mind, just the need to wander, to get away from everything else, at least for a bit. It was still early, there was still plenty of time for breakfast, so he hummed quietly as he walked.

On a second floor corridor, he had caught a glimpse of something silver, but he wasn't sure what it was, but when he turned his attention to it his gaze fell on a window box of herbs. He had dashed over to it, eventually stuffing his pockets with rosemary, and by the time continued on, the flash of silver had long gone from his mind. 

It was a little after that he was bumped into by a frazzled looking second year. He took a few steps back upon impact, and some rosemary fell from his pockets to the floor.

"Have you seen a big cat? I mean- I have a cat called Honey and she went missing and she's ginormous and she's a pretty silver color, have you seen her?"

"Oh," he said, chewing on the edge of his lip, "I don't think I have? I'm really very sorry, wait-" and then it struck him: the flash of silver from earlier! "Actually, I think I might have spotted her? There was, well, something silver down that way!" He emphasized this last comment by pointing down the hallway he had just come from. "I can uh- help you look if you want? I'm Clem by the way," he said, sticking out his hand.

He had seen her! The Ravenclaw boy- Clem- he said his name was, had seen Honey! The little kitty hadn't run away from Hogwarts, and most importantly, she hadn't ran away from Millie.

Millie threw her arms around the boy's neck, engulfing him in a hug. "Thank god! I thought she was lost forever." She pulled away for a moment, a genuine grin on her face. It had felt like forever since she didn't feel worried, despite Honey only being gone for twenty-four hours.

Finally, she turned away and looked towards the end of the corridor, where the boy had pointed. It was obvious Honey had left the area, but she had an idea where the kitty had went. Yet, the thought of luring the cat out from her hiding spot wasn't too bad either, but this was a goose hunt.

Looking over to Clem, Millie gained back that look of worry. "I hope she hasn't ran off to another floor, we can try using some treats to lure her towards us?" She reached into her pocket, and pulled out treats wrapped in a hand-made cloth. The scent of the cat treats filled her nose, and she put them back in her robe pocket.

"Oh- right, I'm Euphrasia, but I prefer Millie."

When the other girl hugged him, Clem blinked for a few moments in surprise, his mouth opening in a small 'o' shape. As she let go, he began to regain his composure, tugging at his collar and adjusting his scarf, scuffing his feet on the floor slightly.

"I hope she hasn't ran off to another floor, we can try using some treats to lure her towards us?"

He crinkled his nose at the smell of cat treats. Sure, he had grown up surrounded by cats (his house never quite felt like a house if there weren't at least two cats and also he was drowning in cat fur), but there were some smells that you never got used to, even after years of exposure. They also brought on a sharp pang of homesickness - the first real one he had had after being at Hogwarts.

"Oh- right, I'm Euphrasia, but I prefer Millie."

"Well, it's nice to meet you Millie! Now, we have a cat to find." He beamed at her, as they headed down the corridor, back the way he had come.

"There was a box of plants I was looking at down there, when I might have seen her," he said, pointing towards a planter in a window a ways off, "It might have had catnip? I know it's potentially grown for magical properties, but it could have lured her down the hallway." He offered a small shrug. The whole morning was providing a much needed distraction for his overactive brain, for which he was deeply thankful.

"Also, if you don't mind my asking, does she do this a lot?" he asked, after making a few small clucking noises, that he knew from prior experience tended to draw cats out of hiding. "Like wander too far off, I mean," he clarified. 

Did Honey run off very often? In all honesty, Millie wasn't sure how to answer the question she was given. Yes, she let Honey wander Hogwarts whenever she wanted, but Honey always returned in a timely manner.

As the two began walking down the corridor, she looked over to Clem, shrugging. "I dunno... she's allowed to wander wherever she wants, but she usually- if not always- returns to my dorm before I go to bed."

It was the nervous habit that made her accent switch blindly from British to American. If she didn't have a very mixed childhood, this wouldn't be a problem. However she had learned that when she switched, people had a hard time understanding what she was saying.

Nevertheless, she shook her head. "Oh Honey... where are you?" She mumbled to herself.

And then it appeared! A flash of silvery white! At first, Millie had ignored it, but when she realized the colour was the same as Honey's pelt, she gasped loudly. The flash turned a corner and disappeared. Millie stopped and grabbed Clem's arm, turning him towards the corner where her kitty must've gone.

"I saw her pelt! That way," She said, pointing. The corner turned into a darker hallway and Millie pulled her wand from her pocket. "Lumos. Let's go."

Millie pointed her wand towards the hallway, looking for any sign of her cat. The light from her wand illuminated the entire hallway. And while she didn't see anything yet, she couldn't give up! Not when her little kitty was so near.
