The day has arrived. The day where the girl is once more standing on the duelling piste, practicing, preparing herself for her first duel after officially becoming a second-year duelling roster of Gryffindor. Sere had read another tons of books about spells that could be used in dueling and had also been preparing herself physically all over the time after the last Spring Games. Regarding Kim's suggestion that he gave Sere a few days ago -to not overdo what she is doing right now-, Sere's ambitious mindset still couldn't thinking about doing it, but the input from her senior was truly precious to her. She will keep it in her mind for an uncountable long time.

Sere entered the Duelling Club and could easily find someone who was already pretty familiar to her. Raizel Voltrouz, once was her teammate and now being the new dueling captain of Gryffindor, agreed on being the moderator for her duel with Kim today. It turned out to be a not really surprising thing for Sere hearing about Raizel slowly returning into the duel. Sere could see it: the sleeping lioness is in the process of waking up stronger.

Sere nodded politely to Raizel and Kim, put her satchel in one corner of the piste as usual, gave a brief warm-up to her neck and arms before taking out her wand, "Alright, wand's ready." She looked at Kim and said, "Gonna give you my best, Senior."

The moment she said start, both duellists didn’t waste any time firing their own spells towards the other. It was a great start, both spells successfully being cast but only one would find its mark.

Raizel can’t say Sere did horrible despite missing. In fact, she got so close to hitting someone older than she is by two years and that’s enough to make her smile. She wasn’t wrong about her first impression of her, that she is a talented duellist and could even go further if she continues her training. At the same time, she did feel a bit jealous because Sere has what she lacks, that same talent for duelling. She shook her head, not wanting for that negative thought to linger for it’ll just ruin her mood. In any case, Sere misses her Obscuro spell by probably just a couple of inches from its target. If she keeps it up, then she might be able to hit Kim next round.

Kim’s Tarantallegra fired off from his wand without any troubles and Raizel watched it as it soared through the air, aiming for the 2nd year at the opposite end of the piste. Sere tried her best to avoid it and boy, she was this close in doing so if only she reacted a bit faster. Unfortunately for her, the spell hit and soon enough, its effects taking over almost immediately. Watching Sere being forced to tap dance made Raizel winced. She hates that spell actually, most of her duels ended with her dancing till she was unconscious.

“Good start, keep at it!” she cheered for the two of them. Hey, gotta give them both some encouragement.

The Blindfolding Spell was the first spell that Sere chose. A spell that she had just learned several few weeks ago. "Obscuro!" The girl cast the spell successfully, but unfortunately, by a very small gap, Kim was still able to avoid it. Ah, that was so close! The girl then heard Kim's voice from the other side of the piste confirming that the spell Sere had just casted was a pretty good choice. The second year duellist's eyes widened with pride. She nodded her head and would remember this for her official duel.

Sere then could hear that Kim cast The Dancing-Feet Spell. Oh no! Sere hated that spell. Tarantallegra was on her disliked spells list. Sere prepared to avoid it, but for some reason the spell moved faster than she expected, hitting her perfectly until she started to do tap dance. Her feet moved back and forth, forming a complicated choreography, which she had never ever know before. Gosh! I guess I have to massage my legs after this match.

Sere raised her wand, felt pretty fine and could still cast a spell despite of her condition. The girl looked at Kim and nodded, "I'm ready." An action had already came to her mind, and after hearing Raizel's command, Sere prepared herself to proceed it.

They say that duels tend to slow down during the second and maybe even the third round. Guess that is true with how this round just turned out. Sere was still moving along with the dancing feet spell but slowly, it was coming to an end. Thinking that she probably had a chance to hit her target despite the spell’s hold on her, she tried her luck but this time, she was way off her mark. Dancing and aiming must’ve been hard but at least the spell had come to its end, giving her more chances next time. It’s nice that Kim was also giving her pointers, something that she couldn’t do for the lack of experience.

Her eyes soon fell on Kim but more so on his wand as it doesn’t seem to be pointed anywhere near the second year and lucky for her, it wasn’t on her either for she won’t know what to do if suddenly, she finds herself in the trajectory of the spell. What happened there, she doesn’t know. Perhaps he wasn’t feeling well or maybe he got distracted. She should probably ask just in case he was sick or something but he seems fine and maybe it was just a slip up. Even those with tons of experience could slip up once in a while.

Raizel simply let things go by this time without saying any words.

Sere hissed as the Mucus ad Nauseam she cast missed. Her feet that were tapping out of control turned out to be much more annoying than she had imagined. Speaking of Mucus ad Nauseam, Sere actually didn't remember the name of the spell or what the effects were if it hit the opponent. She only remembered the incantation, plus the fact that this spell was one of the duelling spells. Before the incantation, pronunciation, and wand movement of the spell were also forgotten from her mind, Sere tried her luck to cast the spell. Unfortunately -but of course fortunately for the other party- Kim dodged the perfectly, creating another homework for Sere to reopen her first year book and find out what spell she had just cast, and how it would affect the opponent.

Sere saw that Kim cast the first year spell, Incendio. It was clear from the green light coming out from the tip of his wand. C'mon! Let's work together, my feet! Sere intended to dodge The Fire-Making Spell, but then saw that the spell was misdirected to... the air?However, it made Sere breathe a sigh of relief. At the same time, her feet began to obey her brain's commands, synchronizing with her body, as it has to be. Sere nodded in satisfaction. This is not a bad round, though not a good one either. Her eyes fixed at her senior, getting ready for the next action.

And then there was fire… literally.

Sere and Kim had decided it was time to turn up the heat in this duel, both choosing a fire spell, namely, Incendio Duo. Raizel of course, had to step to the sides a bit, preferring not getting barbequed by getting caught up in the middle of it or if any of their spells decided to go for her instead of their opponents. The attacks met in the middle, creating this burst of flame upon brushing off of each other as they tore through the air. Closer they went for their intended targets, the heat intensifying as it approached them. Kim was prepared but Sere was not. The older Gryffindor manages to avoid the fire coming for him rather easily, the flames dissipating when it hits nothing but the air behind Kim.

As for Kim’s spell, despite looking a bit weaker than what Sere had conjured up, was more successful in hitting its target. Raizel winced when the younger Gryffindor found herself at the mercy of those flames, a part of her clothes (I’ll let you decide where) set on fire due to its sheer force. Hopefully, that won’t leave a burn on her skin and won’t spread any further. Looking at the two, they seem to be fine with Sere showing more exhaustion after being hit by spells after spells but she could still get going.

You can also get lucky too sometimes.

Those words caught her attention, her gaze shifting from Sere towards the older one, listening. He’s right, luck plays a part in games like this but the unfortunate part would be if you have this kind of luck or not. She sure wishes she had such a thing.
