Never again did Oliver have to read that letter. Never again did he have to think about it. Just needed to focus on his studies perhaps more so then before. Just needed to shut everything out so he could keep his E and O average. He needed them to be all O's. E's wouldn't help him as much as straight O's. Exceeding was fine, it was good, but it wasn't perfect. That wouldn't do.
He needed some air, a place to breathe in the open air. That letter, without intending to, squeezed the air out of his lungs. He felt like the wight of telling them was off of his shoulders, replaced by a heaver burden of perfection. Putting words on parchment was easy enough. He just had to keep his grades up is all. Easier said then done.
He descended the many stairs from the owlery making his way to the grounds, he could start now. Start studying again. Until he knew it beater the the professors that taught him it. He needed to be perfect. Right? Needed to pass every exam with flying colors. Just so he didn't disappoint anymore then he already did.
The grounds were peaceful. Quiet. Unaware of his parents expectations of him. He breathed in the slightly foggy air of the afternoon grounds of Hogwarts. After classes, students winding down. Relaxing. There was a slight envy he felt. Wishing he could do that, yet. He enjoyed studying. Right? It was fun, he did really like it at times. Making his notes clear. Easy to read, if he really needed it he would even rewrite them after class so they would be clear.
He walked, enjoying the coolness of it, he needed to forget about the sting of disappointing them. And instead look to the future; Try to think about the joy they would feel, maybe even the pride that he was there son. When he got O's in his owls and NEWTS- ok. Maybe that was to far ahead. Focus Oliver. One step at a time, this step, it was sitting up against a tree, pulling out the book on his worst subject. Transfuration. And reading it, every passage over and over and over again. Reciting the words to himself so he didn't forget them. Committing it to memory.

And then it hit me.
Eager to explore the area around the Owlery, Novalie darted from corner to corner like a hyperactive puppy, unbothered by the mud and grass stains gathering on her clothes.
She was convinced she’d stumble upon something magical here - wasn’t that how it worked in video games as well? You could even find gold in trash cans, after all!
For a fleeting moment, she considered diving into one herself. At Hogwarts, where magic was real, why couldn’t trash be magical too?
After scouring the grounds for what felt like ages, Novalie finally stood, brushing dirt from her hands with a clap. Despite her efforts, everything around the Owlery seemed as ordinary as the 'normal' world. The Ravenclaw paused, hands on her hips and tilted her head skyward to consider her next move. But just as she did so, something hit her - literally.
Startled, Novalie blinked and looked down at the crumpled piece of paper that had bounced off her forehead. Someone must have tossed it from the Owlery window...
Suddenly, her eyes sparkled with excitement! This was a quest!
Quickly snatching up the paper, the redhead smoothed it out with eager hands, ready to discover her newfound mission! But instead of an ancient riddle or a cryptic map she found...a letter.
A letter from some stuck-up parents.
Novalie skimmed the contents with furrowed brows. The words didn’t entirely make sense to her. They had thought he was brave?
Was this Oliver kid in trouble for not being sorted into Gryffindor or something? Weird.
One of the first things Novalie had learned at Hogwarts was that everyone shared traits across houses - it’s just that one trait stood out more prominently, right? Why didn't these grown-ups know that? And how exactly were 'perfect grades' supposed to make up for that?
The girl shook her head with a huff. Parents could be so frustrating. Novalie had met her share of them growing up, the type who were so picky and uptight they wouldn’t even let her play with their children. This letter felt no different.
With a resolute nod, she made up her mind. She was keeping the letter.
It was too intriguing to leave behind and besides, someone needed to set these parents straight! Stuffing the paper into her pocket, Novalie set off toward the grounds, her favorite place at Hogwarts.
She scanned the familiar trees, weighing her options for a good climbing spot, when her gaze caught on a boy around her age leaning against one of the trunks. He had blonde hair, a Slytherin robe and a book in hand. He could help!
With her typical, characteristic flair, Novalie cartwheeled toward him, landing right beside him with a broad grin.
“I’ve been thinking!”, she announced, pulling the crumpled letter from her pocket and flattening it on the little piece of grass left between them.
“I need to write a reply to these people.”, the girl continued, glancing into his blue eyes with a confident smile, “And you look smart - You can help me phrase it well, okay?”

He read the passage out loud, three times, and written it down again in his notes. About the 'schools' of transfiguration. Over and over. Slightly closing the book, to repeat it out loud, without looking. So he really memorized it. Repeated again and again for the next passages. Until he had just about the whole page committed to his memory. Then of course, was moving to the next page of the textbook. Reading, repeating, repeating with out looking, writing, repeating. Again, and again, for every page.
It was tedious. And boring, even he could admit it. Also because it was a subject he had a near loathing for, he couldn't stand this subject. Easily one of, if not his worst. He needed to take these extreme measures. For the sake of his grades. Oliver had been in the zone, in a cycle if one wanted to call it that. When a girl, walked- if only he could say that, she cartwheeled?! -her way over to him. Who was this kid? Oliver might have seen her in his history of magic class a few times, but had never paid much attention to his pears. He was better then 'socializing' with lesser minds.
The girl, had fiery red hair, a lot of it to. Her clothes, someone help him, were dirty. Yikes. He looked her up and down the bright and brood grin, her vibrant green eyes. Yeah- he still had no clue who she was, so that had to mean she didn't know him. He would have remembered a conversation with someone as noticeable features as her. She had skipped all greetings and pleasantries gotten right to the reasons of her intruding his studying. Really he could care less about what she was thinking, but his eyes did go to the crumpled parchment that she laid down in the space between them.
It was hard to tell what it was. As the note was upside down, and had been crumpled up quite a lot. Yet, 'Dearest Oliver,'. He looked up at her, did she really just say that she wanted to reply to them?!. He would have been chuffed by the complement of him looking smart, if he wasn't so upset. This was a privet letter, it was meant to fly in the wind, go where no one would read it again, where he didn't have to see it. Where he could try and forget about it. Not in the hands of some girl he didn't even know.
"What the hell?" He said, voice a tad angry, mostly shocked. Still the hint of anger there. "Why do you have that? How?" He asked her, sitting up straighter, someone read that, someone knew. Knew his parents feelings, it felt- well he didn't know how to put it but it was bad, it felt really bad. Not only did someone read his letter, it was someone he didn't even know. And she wanted to reply to it? "Why- why would you reply? You don't know those people." He pointed out plainly, trying to keep his emotions in check.

And then it hit me.
Novalie busied herself straightening out the crumpled letter as the boy asked how she’d gotten it.
She chuckled at the memory, then looked straight at him, leaning in far closer than was socially acceptable. Her face was only mere inches from his, a playful glint in her eyes as she gleefully ignored his personal space.
“Can you believe?! I was, like, near the Owlery today, right?”, she began, her words tumbling out with unrestrained enthusiasm, “And I was searching for treasure or something - you know, the kind of stuff that usually spawns in places like that. Honestly, why isn’t there a hidden passage around there? That would make this castle so much cooler! Or are there? Maybe there will be more letters like these! You know, when I was-”
The redhead was mid-ramble, ready to describe how the letter had practically attacked her face, when she suddenly stopped. Her head tilted slightly and then, without any warning whatsoever, she leaned in even closer. Her nose almost brushing his neck- sniffing.
Novalie sniffed, as though this were the most natural thing in the world. She pulled back just enough to beam at him, her green eyes wide with delight,
“Whoa! You totally smell like vanilla! And Christmas. That’s, like, the best smell ever!”
As if nothing unusual had just happened, the girl casually turned back to the letter, finishing the task of smoothing it out.
The explanation of how she’d come across it? Completely forgotten.
Instead, she moved on to answering his other question - why she wanted to reply to it.
“I don’t care if I know them or not.”, she said with a shrug, “They’re being really mean. I mean-”
Novalie rummaged through her robe and triumphantly pulled out a quill. She shook it vigorously, like trying to coax ink from a dried-up pen.
“What does the house even matter? They’re acting like just because this Oliver guy wasn’t sorted into Gryffindor, he’s suddenly not brave anymore. Like he'd lost that trait magically. That’s ridiculous. You know what? I’m a Ravenclaw, but I consider myself crazy brave.”
She glanced at him again, a mischievous grin spreading across her face.
“I’ll prove it. Dare me to eat a worm and I’ll do it. Right now.”
Her grin widened, already imagining the challenge. Then, as though the thought had never left her mind, Novalie flipped the letter over to create a clear writing surface.
“Anyway, I was thinking of starting the reply with- oh, wait! Should I start with a slur? That’s what my friends back home would do!”

The girl talked on and on, about what someone might ask? Oliver couldn't answer. Not even a little. He didn't know what this girl was saying. Something about, hidden passages, and treasures? He took a deep breath, this was not some kind of fantasy novel, there was no adventure to be had by the owlery of all places. She hadn't even answered his question of how she got it, so he came to the reasonable conclusion she had chased it down to grab it, after seeing him throw it out. Of course, then stalked him. Chased him down so she could chastise him-
And lean in close to him? What he backed up as much as he could (Not much with the tree right there) and sniffed him? As if she were a dog trying to memorize his scent. He didn't even try to hide the judgmental look on his face. This was by far the most bazaar interaction he'd ever had, perhaps ever would. First impressions : This girl was weird. He didn't like it. "Do you always greet people like this?" He asked, also not trying to hide the distaste of her actions in his voice. Sounding like his father lecturing him after her himself got all dirty playing in the woods before dinner. Unlike with Oliver's previous question, he was not looking for an answer this time.
He wasn't sure if he should be surprised or not. She said he smelled like vanilla, "Thanks....?" He told(?) asked(?) How was he supposed to feel about that? Oliver stayed leaned back, he didn't like his personal space being invaded. The girl (Whose name he still did not know) finally back up a little, They didn't even know each other, not by name, not by anything. And she was well, she was something. Oliver, by this point, had been fully convinced she was trying to embarrass him, steal his information, ruin his reputation, etc.
She didn't care if she knew them or not? His ears had to be playing tricks on him. "No, no. Listen here, you don't understand." He said as she shook a quill, A ridiculous action in itself. "Maybe his family was all Gryffindor. And he messed up by not being in it." He clenched his fists, It wasn't any of her concern really. Oliver then got a few hints on to who she was, a Ravenclaw. He didn't buy that. "Clearly he wasn't brave enough." Oliver was trying to do his best to not let her know who he was. That would for sure make her think less of him, no doubt about it. "Otherwise he would have been in Gryffindor."
His eyes drifted to the letter, no one was supposed to read that. No one but him. This was a total invasi- "Eat a worm?" His head shot up to look at her. "I'm sorry, eat a worm?" She was jumping all over the place, Oliver couldn't keep up with this conversation. What was she on? And here he was thinking Ravenclaw's were supposed to be smart. This had to be another tick to get him to lower his guard; so she could kick him when he was down. Like Oliver would let that happen. "Are you sure your a Ravenclaw? Trying to eat a worm? Sending- letters to random people."
He didn't get it, he really didn't get it. How some people (this girl) thought it was socially acceptable to send letters. And- Oh god, he couldn't let her send it. He couldn't let her write it. His parents would be furious, a letter from someone that wasn't himself, or Aaron. Who knew what she would want to put in it. "A slur? No-" He protested, they would disown him then and there. He was almost sure of it. "Your not starting it with a slur?! Your not starting it at all!" He was trying his best to leave no room for argument. "You don't know these people. What if all you do is get m- Oliver - in more trouble?"

How does someone even 'mess up' getting sorted into the 'right' house?
It wasn’t like it was a test you could fail. The Sorting Hat literally just decided on its own. Novalie herself had wanted Gryffindor so badly that she’d practically begged for it when she sat beneath the hat. But in the end, it didn’t bother her - mostly because she hadn’t even understood how the house system worked at the time. And hey, if the hat thought she was not only brave but clever too? Even better! She believed that this Oliver had to have more good characteristics for the hat to sort him somewhere else.
“Yeah, I’m a Ravenclaw. And I'd absolutely eat a worm!”, she confirmed with a proud grin when he asked, adding cheekily, “A dead one, though. I’m not a killer.”
The boy didn’t sound judgmental at all (to her). If anything, he seemed pleasantly surprised. Encouraged, Novalie grabbed her quill and began scrawling the words 'Dear Oliver’s Parents' at the top of the paper. As she wrote, she launched into a rambling story.
“But worms taste really weird, right? One time, I had one in my mouth and then it had muscle memory or something! I spat it out, thinking it's still alive. I built it a little home out of leaves and waited for it to move again. But it didn’t. So then I tried to feed it to a spider or a bug, but they didn’t want it either. Ever have something like that happen to you?”
She didn’t wait for a response, already focused on writing her next line. With a grin, she began to write a certain word meant for female dogs, thinking it was the perfect way to start the sentence.
But before she could finish, she heard the boy say that she shouldn't start at all and that she didn't know them.
'What if all you do is get m- Oliver - in more trouble?' - he said.
Novalie paused mid-word, her quill hovering over the page. Normally, she would’ve tuned out by now - her attention span wasn’t built for listening too long.
But .. 'm-'?
Of course she had heard that.
The redhead turned to him with a wide smile, “Oh, so you’re Oliver?”
What a lucky day! Not only had she found a reason to write a letter to some stuck-up people, but she’d also met the quest-giver himself. And now that they’d chatted a bit, she was certain they’d become friends.
“Don’t worry!”, she chirped, turning back to the letter.
Novalie finished writing the insult, confidently adding:
'Y’all don’t know shit ‘bout Hog, and I believe Oliver is gangster for being in Slytherin.'
Yeah!! Now that sounded exactly like something her brothers and friends would say.
They always managed to win people over, so it had to work on Oliver’s parents too. Right?
The girl turned back to him, her expression earnest, “You know, I think most arguments can be solved if people just talk honestly. Maybe your parents don’t even know what Slytherin’s really about. I'll tell them all about it!”
She tapped her chin, staring thoughtfully at the sky, “Like, it’s, uh... people who are super ambitious and stuff, right? And weren’t some really famous wizards Slytherins too?”
Novalie paused, her brow furrowing as she tried to recall the name she’d heard floating around the castle. Something about bloodlines and talking to snakes. Really cool stuff. Suddenly, her face lit up.
“Ah - I got it!”, she said triumphantly, “Voldemort! You can become just like him if you try hard, right? I'll tell them that!”

And then it hit me.

He didn't like her. Not only did she seem to have zero social skills but she also seamed to not any brain cells along side that. Add the two things up, you equaled one of Oliver's least favorite things. How she had gotten Ravenclaw? Hell if Oliver knew. What Ravenclaw would eat a worm? They were supposed to be smart. Based on the girls next words, Oliver would have put her in Hufflepuff. He rolled his eyes. "Of course. A dead one. Silly me to think a live worm." He could almost taste the sarcasm in his mouth as he spoke. It was borderline- scratch that, it was iodic to eat a worm. Of any living status.
Merlin give him strength, she started writing. He really needed to find out what to do, how to deal with this, and keep it out of his parents sight at all costs. He was smart (unlike the girl) he could think of something to get her out of writing it. His parent's could never see this letter. And finally, as the girl started to ramble on about the taste of worms (Seriously who was this girl?) he realized his parent's couldn't see it. Or know it was written. For all they knew, Oliver couldn't have seen it yet. He could be writing his own response to it, instead of this girl. Whom, had yet to reveal her name to him. If he didn't know better he would assume her to be a form of ghost, or poltergeist. He did know better though. She must just be very weird.
"Huh-?" He was broken from his strike of brilliance by some question. He hadn't been paying attention to what she had been saying at all, something about worm taste, and she asked if he.. what? Had something like that happen to him? "Of course not," He answered. Sure, he didn't hear most of her words. Or what she had said. But was almost sure it was pure nonsense. Based on the little information he knew about her. "You know most people don't eat worms right?" He asked, trying to make sure he was getting this right. "That's not a normal thing to do." He himself hadn't eaten one, he was far better then that. And most meats made him sick. Oliver was not keen to find out if worm's counted under that.
His slip up had cost him. Her apparent two braincells had clinked together and the thing she got, was not the trouble. No, no of course not. Her ears had fallen deaf on that part; only grasping his mini, teeny tiny, small mistake. He took a deep breath, and let his head fall back on to the rough bark of the tree behind him. He closed his eyes, "Yes, I am Oliver." He said opening his eyes again, to look at her and see her wide grin. She had to be enjoying this. Just had to be. No one could smile like that, after hearing his protests about writing a letter. She had said don't worry, but he did. He worried a lot.
He leaned off the tree to look at what she had written. Cringing as he saw it. What. The. Hell. She had to want him dead, or disowned. "That sure is..." He said looking up at her, he didn't know exactly what it was. If he was being honest. "Well, it sure is something." Aaron would say the choice of words was very 'creative'. Had Oliver not had a plan in mind that involved the girl at least somewhat liking him, at the least trust him enough, he needed to play nice. He looked down at it again. 'Shit 'bout Hog,' That- Oh merlin save him, and give him strength. "They know plenty about Slytherin..." He mumbled to her, reading the words over and over. Really just shocked someone could think that was anything to say to someone's parents. One's they didn't even know.
He looked up at her rolling her eyes as she spoke about the house traits. Sure, ambition was good. His parents had said that, yet ambition was not pride. He must not have been proud enough, yet he was proud of his family. It wasn't enough, he didn't know why. "Most of the famous one's are evil." He said yet again with an eye roll. Trying his best to be nice with his tone. As if to prove his point, she named the worst one of all. Voldemort, the evil wizard of all evil wizards. She had to know that right? Had to. "Yes, he was Slytherin," 'be nice Oliver, be nice.' "I however do not want to be like him. No one does, or at least they shouldn't."
Why he had to say that? He had no clue at all, any respectable wizard knew what Voldemort had done. And that it should never be repeated. "But fine- tell them I can be." His plan was simple really, let her write whatever bull shit she wanted to. Let her address it to his parents. And when it was done, he would simply take it, claim he would give it to his parents himself. After all, she didn't know where they lived. So she couldn't tell the owl where to take it. And simply never send the letter. It would work, had to at least. "Not like it would be hard to be like him." He said, he would just have to be cruel. He would be arrested no doubt, but still. He wouldn't have to try.

When the boy claimed he had never eaten a worm - and that, apparently, it wasn't something people did? - Novalie furrowed her brows in confusion.
Not normal? Hadn’t everyone eaten a worm at some point in their life?
“Well, you definitely should try it, then.”, the girl declared matter-of-factly.
She didn’t bother explaining why, as there was no reason, really. It wasn’t about taste, survival, or even curiosity. To Novalie, it was simply one of those things you should do, just for the sake of having done it - like checking off a random achievement in life.
“I’ll find you a worm as soon as I finish writing this.”
The redhead heard him mutter something about her letter being something, and, of course she took it as pure encouragement.
He liked it! Obviously, Novalie was an exceptional writer.
Bolstered by confidence, she added Oliver becoming the next Voldemort and decided to embellish it further with words her brothers often used with impressive eloquence. She didn’t fully know what they truly meant, but they sounded important. So proudly, she scrawled the capital letters for 'All Cops Are Beautiful', because if Oliver’s parents persisted in their absurdity, surely the authorities would have to intervene. That made sense, right?
Next, she sprinkled in some affectionate pet names like 'rat' and 'pig 'and finally, adorned the bottom of the page with a large heart, inside which she inscribed the term for a gardening tool. Everyone deserved a little love.
With a flourish, Novalie signed her name at the bottom.
When Oliver mentioned that he didn’t want to be like Voldemort, the Ravenclaw merely shrugged.
Fair enough. She couldn't really blame him. The redhead had heard that this wizard had been both noseless and bald - not exactly the most enviable attributes.
- Wait. Why hadn’t he just used magic to grow hair? If he had been so extraordinarily powerful, wouldn’t that have been a piece of cake?
Perhaps it had all been a hoax.
Or - Novalie’s eyes widened slightly - perhaps extreme magical power came with hair loss. That would explain some things! She vaguely remembered an anime character with the same issue... One Punch Man, wasn't it?
The girl folded the letter and put it in the pocket of her robe, not even entertaining the thought of handing it over to Oliver.
“Like, I mean -”, she began, glancing at his blonde hair.
Without hesitation, Novalie reached out, running her fingers through his strands as if inspecting them for early signs of magical baldness.
“It’d be a shame.”, she mused, “But you could always wear a wig or something, right? You said it wouldn’t be hard for you to be like him, so you should totally use your full potential!”
Grinning, she shot him a thumbs-up, “Yeah! Use your full potential, Oliver! If you need help, I got you!”
Her gaze drifted to the book he’d been studying before their conversation had so gloriously derailed.
Transfiguration, huh?
Her grin stretched even wider, “Oh! I’m really good at that Transfusion stuff! I can totally give you lessons!”
Considering she was what this world called a Metamorphmagus, it was only natural that she aced that class!
Too bad Oliver didn’t share it with her, but now that they were friends, they could always meet up, and she could teach him all she knew!

And then it hit me.
|
|
|
Oliver did not want Novalie to find him a worm. Not at all. Who would want someone to find a worm, unless you were making compost. He'd done that himself back home, but that wasn't what was going on right now. What was going on right now was the end of the world, close enough to that. At least, the very least, she looked close to done with the letter. Then Oliver could steal it back, and discard of it promptly and thoroughly this time. To be sure no one else would read what his parents wrote to him, and what Novalie was writing.
To be blunt; Novalie's letter sucked-ish. It could be worse, but the girl looked almost naive to what she had been writing. The language was crude, and nothing one would write to someone on a higher standing. It was colorful, And, inventive? He watched as she put the insult to his parents in a heart. Either she really didn't know what she was doing, or Novalie Moon was a fucking psycho path. Who got some sort of sick pleasure in doing all of these things to people. Perhaps Oliver wasn't the first victim of this. How many other students parents had she written to. Ruining everything.
And then, the girl had to thwart him further. She folded it up, and put it in her pocket. Then, what. She touched his hair. He pulled back, His hair slipping through her fingers. "wear a wig?" He repeated questioning her, he was quickly finding out that she just, talked. Whatever popped into her head, no matter if it made seance. Perhaps unaware that other people couldn't hear her train of though that had led her to suggesting Oliver to wear a wig. Could it have been because He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named was bald? Perhaps. But really, who knew. It was his first time meeting her, and he already felt like he knew how she worked. Spontaneous and unpredictable.
"Look, as much as I appreciate the offer;" not at all, He didn't need any help getting to his full potential. As far as he was concerned he could claw his way to the top all by himself. Didn't need help from some stranger, someone who didn't know him. Nor how talented he really was. He needed no help at all. "I don't need help with anything." He looked down to his book, the blasted transfiguration. One of his worst classes so far. Only a month in and he could tell this class was so horrible. "I don't need lessons." A lie. "What's said in class is enough," Also a lie. He hardly understood. "Just reading up on what was covered." That; that one was the truth.
All Oliver wanted was the girl to leave him, and give him the letter. But that was now harder, with the letter out of his sight. He let out a hum, thinking about how to get to it without brute force. He needed to be smart about this, think it through. And make sure he had it right. "So... Um, I must have missed your name." Or she had never said it, Likely that one. But he was trying to be nice. "But that letter," He was trying to think of how to say it nicely. After a moment he figured this was the best he was coming up with. "You should, give it to me. So I can send it to my parents." Yes, that was it. Totally not so he could dispose of it properly this time. Like down a toilet. Or he could try the fire spell.

Novalie retracted her hand without a trace of offense when Oliver edged away, simply tilting her head with with a look of curiosity
Huh, interesting. Was this a touchy topic for him or something? Maybe the boy had a deep-rooted trauma involving bald gramps or toupees of authorities flying to his face, or he was in some kind of hair-loss denial.
She decided to not press further though, because he clearly wasn’t ready to talk about wigs or anything else to make the situation better. Well, that was fair, right? Everyone processed future baldness at their own pace, the girl guessed.
Soon enough however, the subject shifted to Transfiguration, and he insisted he didn’t need any help, claiming that he was just brushing up on class material.
The redhead blinked at him, almost as if something had just clicked in her mind.
“Oh.”, she said slowly, her eyes narrowing slightly, “You’re one of those people.”
All of it made sense now.
The not-eating-worms thing, the full-on rejection of his inner Voldemort and the solo book-reading as though it were fun.
Who in their right mind voluntarily read textbooks after class was over anyway? That was like... like re-watching the boring parts of a movie and skipping all the fun explosions! So bizarre!
With a theatrical sigh, she put a hand on his shoulder, her face painted with something that was most certainly pity, and gave him a few soft pats like she was consoling a grieving friend.
“Don’t worry anymore, Oliver. I’ll help you out of your misery.”
This obviously meant abandoning reading dry theory - in her head, at least - and instead turning random stuff they'd find into cursed food before eating it for science! Now that was real learning! Maybe they could find a rat and try and transfigure it into a gumdrop later!
“Oh, I never told you my name!”, the Ravenclaw beamed after the blond boy noticed that little detail - although she couldn't be bothered to tell him that now either.
But, her attention returned to the reply. Naturally, she had that covered.
“Also, don’t worry about the letter. I will get it to your parents somehow, even if I have to deliver it personally!”
Novalie's grin stretched impossibly wide. The kind of grin that would likely make adult's nervous and have professors muttering 'Not again...'.
She proudly tapped on the pocket where the dangerously chaotic letter was hidden and jumped up.
“So I'll take care of this...”, the girl stated before she looked back at the book on the ground and slightly arched an eyebrow,
“...while you find a hobby that doesn't have the hood thinking you're eighty-five years old on the inside.”
Then just like that, a glimmer of inspiration filled her eyes,
“Oh wait! I know! Let's make it a race - like, me sending off the letter and you finding something that is actually enjoyable!”
Yes!! Amazing! A wholesome competition!
By the end of the day Novalie felt certain that they would both achieve greatness.
The Ravenclaw turned and skipped off towards the castle,
“See you later, Christmas!”, she called back over her shoulder, completely pleased with herself and with the idea she had just come up with.
