Dear Mary Anne,
I am writing this letter to you while on the train to Hogwarts. I hope you are doing well, though I know I only left a few hours ago. I just want to say somethings in a letter since I am not to great at expressing myself in person. Mary Anne, I love you. I'm sorry I had to leave you, but I need to be at Hogwarts. Mother and Father would have wanted it. I need to be able to set a good example for other students at the school. Yes, I'm talking about muggle borns. I know how you feel about all that. I know you don't want to hate the muggle borns, but Mary Anne, you should. They are invading our world. While I'm at Hogwarts I don't want you to run off and make friends with a muggle born.
I already told you all the things you need to know, but now I want to get emotional with you since I can't do that in person. Mary Anne you are an extremely special girl. I know most siblings hate one another growing up, so that makes me believe that our relationship is something special. I don't want to loose that while I'm at Hogwarts, so please ALWAYS stay in touch. I know you must feel so alone after I left. But you have Dr. Shirley. And Papa of course once he gets better. But I really need you to rely on Dr. Shirley. I talked to her for a very long time and she agreed to love you like a daughter. Talk to her with whatever you need. I hope you two develope a close relarionship. The truth is Mary Anne, she will most likely be better for you then I could ever be. She is an adult, and can drive, so she can take you fun places. She has money she can actually access. (Don't worry, when I come of age and recieve the family fortune, we can pay her back.) But most importantly, she is a woman. I want to be there for you and it's totally fine for you to look up to me, but the truth is you need a female role model. Mary Anne you are a growing girl and you need another female in the house. I hope you and Dr. Shirely grow a wonderful relationship with one another.
Another thing. I need you to keep your grades up. Mary Anne, you are a wizard. A pureblood. A Singer. We both have big reputations to live up to, so if you are expecting to get into Hogwarts and make your family proud, then you need to get it together. I know you were always able to slack off when I was around because I could do all the work for you, but now you really need to get focused. Also continue your quidditch practice. Who knows? Maybe one day you can be like mother and be captain of the Slytherin team! You're really amazing. I wouldn't be the slightest suprised if you were put as chaser #1 for the house team your first year! But for that you have to keep practicing.
One last thing Mary Anne. I want you to check the top drawer of your dresser. I left you a little gift. It's a locket with the family crest. If anyone is ever mean to you, if you ever fail at something, if you ever feel down, you can open the locket and remember that you are a Singer. You are a pureblood Singer. Everyone in the wizard world knows your name and wants to be you. Own it. Now my hand is starting to hurt and I'm running out of parchment so goodbye for now. I'll write soon.
