Every time Julienna came into the library, she was reminded of how grand it was— It was nothing like the small stacks of dusty fairy tales she had back home at all. She couldn't decide if she preferred the warmth of the library, or the homey feel of her dorm in Gryffindor more. As great as it was, most of the books in here seem to be textbooks. Gross.

On a weekend like today, though, it was somewhat empty. There were a few fellow students gathered around the fireplace to catch up on some reading, or something, but they seemed too focused, in a scary way, to be friendly. So, Julienna was free to wander through the shelves looking for something interesting. She didn't have much she needed to do too desperately, so picking up some fantastical story and flopping onto an armchair would probably work to satisfy her boredom. Julienna ventured through the small corridors, shelves seemed to surround her on all sides. Even when she looked up, she just saw more books. Jeez, if only I had this much to read back home, too!

She turns one more corner, hoping that this time she might get lucky. A pretty book might suddenly stand out in the shelves, or perhaps some hidden secret would reveal itself, or maybe she'd find—

A girl surrounded by pages of notes and stacks of books, looking like she was hard at work. From a glance, Julienna could definitely make out some of her features. Brown eyes, a shorter stature, long brown hair, maybe around the same age as her, too. And she looks quite focused on studying. Hm, definitely not in a scary way, though.

Eager to make herself known, she hops over and sits down on the arm of the girl's armchair. With a gentle tap on the shoulder, Julienna figured she'd get the busy girl's attention, first. "Hey there! Mind if I sit with 'ya?"

It was on the 15th of December, that Louisa McStately found herself curled up in a rather comfortable armchair in the library. She had come to study, but the interest in that had slowly disappeared when she had seen the non textbooks that the library offered. So with a pile of textbooks on one side, some interesting books from the library on the other and a magazine in her hands she thought she probably gave the impression that she was intentionally hogging all the books in the library, though she certainly hoped not.

Louisa McStately’s focus was directed so much at her copy of Witch Weekly, which was quite interesting when compared to the muggle magazines even if she usually wasn’t a huge magazine fan, that she barely noticed the girl approach her. With her brown eyes so focused on the book in front of her, that when a young girl comes and sits on her the edge of her chair, Louisa doesn’t notice. It’s only when the girl taps her on the shoulder, that Louisa finally is brought out of her book and to reality with a sudden and somewhat dramatic jump.

Recovering from her surprise, Louisa turns to the girl, taking in some of her features. The straight, black hair, brown eyes and height of a first year. It’s when the girl asks to sit with Louisa that Louisa takes a breath and looks at the girl, unable to hide her surprise. While her behavior is a little more confident then what Louisa is used to, she senses something to like about the girl. With a bright smile she speaks, “Oh, hello! Yes, uh, of course you can sit down!”

Feeling as though she should say something more, Louisa decides on an introduction, “I’m Louisa, by the way. Uh, Louisa McStately!” She offers trying not to show the awkward nervousness she feels. In an attempt at being polite she closes her magazine, places it to the side and uncurls from her cosy position a little, while waiting for the girl to respond. She doesn’t want to hope too much, but maybe she is on the way to making a friend…

Louisa's sudden reaction earns a melodic laugh from Julienna. And with the girl's words of approval, her's expression is bright as she slides off the girl's chair, and sinks into the an empty one next to her in a somewhat overdramatic flop. Her back leans against one arm of the chair, and the back of her knees curls over the top of the other. So she's comfortably cradled across the plush seat.

Julienna's gaze trails up from the well-aged table before her, then to the scarf that looked like it hung comfortably around the other girl's neck. Then to the sunny grin on the her face as she introduced herself. Louisa McStately, huh?

"Well then, good evening Louisa!" She smiles widely, posture as relaxed and friendly-like as ever. Maybe the fuzzy warm feeling the library had was starting to grow on her a little. And even though Julienna could barely see this other girl behind the stacks of books on the table between them, she was already starting to enjoy Louisa's company, too. She's swinging her legs up and down steadily, and rhythmically, like a child looking forward to receiving gifts or sweets. Instead, though, she's gotta look forward to everything refreshing that came with meeting someone new. Which was almost as good as getting a gift.

"Say, do you read often?" There's a little pause between them, so Julienna perks up with a question, her hand loosely waving to the large piles of books on the table in front of Louisa. Well, what kind of book-hater would surround themselves with textbooks like that anyway? She continues, "Or anything else you've been up to lately? Do ya' have any hobbies you're working on? Oh, what about your favorite thing to study??"

Julienna lets all the questions that had piled up in her mind out at the poor girl, rambling a little. Louisa probably doesn't mind— She's just curious, after all.

Louisa watched the girl shyly as she laughed, and flopped down in the chair next to her. She looked so relaxed and comfortable, that Louisa moved a little to a more comfortable position, hoping the girl might stay. When the girl gave little Louisa a ‘good evening then’, Louisa smiled and was about to ask the girls name but she spoke once more.

Do you read much? The question took Louisa almost by surprise. She thought a moment to decide on her answer, but instead the girl had continued on with another flurry of questions. Louisa felt another smile glide across her face. This girl was amazing at talking and so far she seems really nice!

It took a moment for Louisa to decide how to answer so many questions in one go. But something about this girl made Louisa feel as though she could speak without feeling stupidly nervous, and when she spoke it came naturally. “Well, I suppose I read a bit. The books here are really interesting, you know.” Her eyes flicked to the side and she realized that she really was amid alot of books. “Oh, no, this is just for, uh, homework! I don’t read textbooks for fun, well, most of the time!” Louisa giggled, a little embarrassed by her inability to talk to people well, yet moved a couple of highly piled books carefully so she could see the other girl more clearly. What were the other questions? Thought Louisa with a friendly giggle. “Oh, yes about me…” She paused thoughtfully for a moment. “I suppose I like flying. I want to play Chaser for Hufflepuff…” Louisa’s face took on a somewhat dreamy expression at the thought of the wind rushing past her face and the aim of winning with her house. It took her a moment before she pulled herself back to the library with the mountain of books and the brown eyed, sweet seeming girl. “And I, uh, like Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts too, I guess. Ooh and hanging in the common room, and exploring the castle, or…” Louisa stopped, realizing that she had been going on a little too much and she really didn’t want to seem rude.

She turned looking directly at the other girl, interest bubbling in her eyes. “What about you? Oh, and what’s your name, by the way?” Yes, it would be good to actually know the name of the dark haired girl. With a interested look, and wait for the girls answer, she wondered what the other girl thought of her. Hopefully good things…

Like some kid staring up at an idol, Julienna listens closely to Louisa with eyes that practically sparkled with curiosity. As if hanging on to her every word was the most important thing in the whole world. And until the girl finally mentioned it, she hadn't even realized that she'd never introduced herself. "Oh, right! I'm Julienna," she beams at her, still splayed lazily across the armchair, though she does shift into a more polite position.

There was happiness and warmth brewing in her chest, but she was not sure if it was from Louisa's air of friendliness or simply the cozy ambience of the library around them. "I read a lot," Julienna hums, her legs swaying blissfully, "But studying is suuch a bore." Sitting still and reading a textbook that just drawls on and on for hours wasn't exactly her favorite. Even though there was a stack of textbooks on the table in front of her, she'd like to think that neither Louisa, nor anyone for that matter, actually enjoyed it. Her thoughts went on, as she tried to recall the other questions she had asked the girl. Julienna had been all caught up in her answers, Uh? Right—

Her voice is still smooth as she continues, maintaining her glittery gaze on the girl. Her dark eyes caught the sunlight, but they were as soft and gleeful as ever, as if she were talking to a long-time friend. "If I had to choose a favorite subject, I'd pick Herbology," Julienna muses, after a moment of contemplation. "Flowers are really pretty! And even those ugly, bitey plants are still interesting to learn about, y'know?" Sunflowers were always her favorite, since they were like tiny suns in the form of tall and beautiful flowers. Julienna fidgets with her hair, caught up in her thoughts, her attention swaying between Louisa and the field of flowers in her mind.

Tiny suns, huh? Hey, what else had Louisa said? "Oh, flying? That sounds fun!" Her voice is pitched with excitement as she dives right back into their conversation. Wow, she must be so brave! All Julienna would think about at that height would be the fall. Adrenaline and exhilaration weren't exactly her thing. But now, she could look forward to watching Louisa at some school game or something! Julienna smiles at the thought, "I'll definitely cheer you on, then, okay? 'Cause you're my friend now, right?"
