Lallie surveyed the room looking for everyone Millie had mentioned. She had seen Belle and Gaston's outfit and she totally agreed they looked awesome. Maggie, she had already seen and she could spot Tatiana in a blue version of Maggie's outfit. She didn't know Sylvie or Carson but using a bit of deducting she saw a boy dressed as a yellow-shirted tourist dancing with the girl dressed as Belle and the Slytherin tourist near the punch bowl. She couldn't spot Koko since she didn't know who she was but she assumed she looked great.

"I defiantly agree. The way Belle and Gaston orchestrated their entrance and transformation at the same time was great." Lallie said turning her attention back to Millie, "I also like that one girl dressed as what appears to be a steampunk porcelain doll. It's a creative idea and I really like the costume itself" She pointed at the girl who was currently talking to Gaston.

Lallie's heart started beating faster when Millie suggested they bail the party together. Sure they've hung out alone together before but it still makes her heart flutter whenever the idea comes up. "I say we wait a bit. I think Maggie's about to start the competition or at least announce something since she and Tatiana are on stage. As you said Maggie always makes these things more interesting. I would be okay with bailing after that if you want to." Lallie said pointing to the stage where Maggie's hair was tinted pink. There was enough Metamorphi in this school to know that Maggie was crushing on someone.

"Until then," Lallie thought back to Belle and the Hufflepuff boy of the tourist group, they were clearly having a fun time even though they were dancing like there was ballroom dancing music playing even though there wasn't. Maybe Lallie could ask Millie to dance?

'No! Don't you even think about it! She'll shame you in front of everyone causing you to have no friends and spiral into a deep depression!''Nonsense, she asked you to dance at the Gryffindor Ball so she's clearly up for the idea.''I guarantee you've made her dislike you since then. You're such a screw-up so that should've been easy for you.''She wouldn't have come up to you if she didn't like you''Don't. Do. It.''You can do it.'

"W-would you care to dance with me? I do believe you owe me one since we weren't able to at the Gryffindor Ball?" Lallie asked. She did it. She actually did it. 'Now you've done it. Watch as she rejects you like the piece of trash you are.''I'm proud of you. That took some guts with the pressure you put on yourself.'

She didn't regret it in the slightest. Fire was something fun, something powerful, and something that could be played with if you knew how to extinguish it, which Koko did. However, she felt the slightest bit of remorse for scorching the kid's lab coat. "Sorry," she said awkwardly, "You scared me."

Despite her apology, another girl came over and confronted her. Well, she didn't exactly confront Koko. Koko's spine straightened as she jumped a little, clearly surprised by the newcomer. "I already apologised." She didn't say it in a sharp tone, the tone that an annoyed teenager might take with their mother when they were upset, but she spoke in a slightly monotone voice. This girl didn't seem scary. But that didn't mean that she wasn't hiding something. Koko always had to be on the balls of her feet, bouncing, scared of everything and everyone. But maybe they weren't all that bad. "I don't know who will win. Maybe the person wearing the Joker costume." Koko sighed wearily. She was tired after studying for her Astronomy homework, and she wanted some rest. Could she get some? Most likely. Was she going to win the costume contest? Probably not. Koko took a deep breath, and she headed towards the doors leading out of the ballroom.

Katrina was still not sure why she was invited to this party. The Gryffindor was not known by many people at all. She wore the only black shoes she owned, slip-on’s that were obviously unworn. A jean overall covered her long sleeved shirt. Katrina normally wouldn't have worn this, she much preferred a dark sweater and jeans if she were to wear muggle clothes. The clothes were the last outfit her parents had bought her (she regretted her reluctance on the purchase). Her hair was put in two thick French braids that ended in a loose bun, a style Katrina usually put her hair in.

Katrina slinked into the great ballroom and saw many people she recognized. Katrina found an empty space along the wall and deemed it her own. First she made a small plate of snacks and smiled fakely at the people she passed. Parties were NOT her thing, but Katrina didn’t want to be rude and deny the offer. Besides, she was sure they put a lot of work into this party.

Katrina remembered she had brought some muffins and grabbed the container from her satchel and went over to the snacks table and set it on the table. She returned to the spot and watched the party go by.

Margo smiled at Maggie as the Gryffindor spoke and nodded jerkily, though she obviously tried to make it look smooth. "The costume's from scratch." She answered, looking down at her boots to gain confidence. 

You shouldn't have to gain confidence, she told herself firmly. She was dressed in the clothes she loved. People could think  what they liked. It was just tiredness that was making the hole in her self confidence, right? Definitely tiredness. It wasn't because Katrina Walker just walked in and guilt was now rising in her chest. Not at all.

Now, if there was anybody in the world that Margo felt sorry for, it was Katrina. Margo had been one of the first to discover that Katrina had likely lost her parents, and to Margo, there was no worse thing. However, that was not all. Margo had then caused a petty argument right in front of the poor girl, and Katrina had ended up leaving- alone. Margo was often a spiky and sarcastic character, but she did have morals. Admittedly, she also sometimes caused drama, or spoke without thinking, but that happened to everybody... probably.

Luckily, Margo was spared from trying to talk to the girl by some flames erupting upon a student in a lab coat. She recognised the boy, He was a Slytherin, but they'd never actually crossed paths. As for the spell caster, it was Koko Riddle, someone whom she felt sorry for because of the onslaught of blame throwing that was likely to ensue. She wasn't too worried. Other people could sort that out, and it would cause enough of a scene without her butting in. Besides, they were inside a school of magic- these things happened all the time, and Margo liked to focus  on the good events rather than the bad ones. For example, Charlotte's dress transformation was spectacular. Margo was gobsmacked at the magic the Hufflepuff had managed to pull off. 

“Ta for the compliment, but seriously, how did you even manage to pull that magic off? Your dress is amazing.” She told the girl in earnest. Many would find this all too easy to believe, but Margo didn’t give out compliments lightly. She was enjoying the party a lot more now, and had seen several displays of magic around. She had internally smiled at the trio dressed up in superhero costumes, though she had no idea where from. The boys in said outfits would likely call her an offender, but she had just never heard of Batman. If it came down to it, she would probably guess all the characters as friends, but luckily, the Joker amen his rivals stayed far across the room from her ignorance. Besides, she couldn’t help having wizarding parents. Her world was rocked by the famous Weasley twins’ products and the Tales of Beedle the Bard, not a man spending his days in a large mansion with a load of muggle gadgets stored in a cave underneath.

Margo sidled up to the refreshments table, in need of sustenance after a while analysing the people dotted around the dance floor. She spotted a fellow Slytherin second year she knew as Sylvie at the other end of the food, and walked up to her with a new cup of punch in hand and a clean page of character analysis ready in her mind.

“So,” she started. “Enjoying the party? I love the costume theme you’ve got going on with the others. Do you by any chance have any idea what's going on with the costumes over there?” She pointed towards the Batman trio. She'd spoken rather loudly, and would be very lucky if nobody else heard her question.

Her words seemed enough of a personality assessment for now. She'd have to see how the girl answered, and catalogue it. People were interesting, but also so similar, and after a little while being around all the party goers she could see the patterns very clearly. Sylvie seemed like the more introverted type, but it was always hard to be sure. Maybe the girl was just having a bad day. 

Suddenly, Margo caught sight of a pair of very non human ears making their way towards the exit. "Sorry, I'll be right back." She shot Sylvie an apologetic glance over her shoulder as she rushed after Koko. Now, that was interesting personality, and Margo also wanted to make sure that the girl was okay after her fire starting behaviour. 

"You alright there?" She managed to catch the umbrella equipped girl at the exit. "Nobody blamed you for the incendio did they? I thought it was pretty cool."

Tatiana watched in awe as Charlotte's already perfect costume went through it's magical transformation. She twirled around in her now glowing and golden gown. "Stunning!" she squealed, beaming, truly impressed by how creative she had been with her outfit. She was shortly joined by Fumiko, dressed as Gaston, completing the pair. She looked on with a sly smile as a certain someone had finally arrived, the apple of Maggie's eyes, a certain boy in Hufflepuff.

The newly arrived Marty McFly made his way over to Maggie had a flirty exchange. Maggie's hair gave her giddy emotions away, the ends turning a bright blushing pink. She managed to exchange a few sentences with the boy before she grabbed Tatiana by the wrist, whisking her away toward the stage. As they reached the other side of the room, the Gryffindor jumped up on the stage to sit, a grin stretching across her face from ear to ear. She gushed about the encounter, giggling with excitement, all the while her hair turning more and more pink. "I did!" she giggled, watching her friend squeal, her eyes and face animated and lit up from the success of her interaction with Oliver. "You nailed it," she winked. "Just enough flirting, and then you ran away, leaving him wanting more!"

Several more people had arrived since Maggie dragged Tatiana away for their little girl to girl gossip session. So many more, Tatiana was sure this had to be everyone Maggie had invited. How the girl had managed to meet and befriend so many people, she still wasn't sure. But nonetheless, she was glad they'd all showed up for Maggie, everyone seemingly enjoying the costumes as well. Eager to get some activities started, she jokingly asked, "So, were we really about to start the competition? Or was that just a ploy to get us away from everyone?"

Sylvie heard a voice, and looked up from her drink. She saw Charlotte standing in front of her in her Bellle costume. "Oh, I'm good. Just a bit tired. It's been a really long week." She said giggling, swishing the drink around in her cup. She was smiling kindly, even if she really wanted to leave the party. "Oh god, Charlotte probably noticed I was alone and came over here out of pity," She thought, furrowing her eyebrows while she continued to smile. 

"I really can't take credit for the party or the costume idea. Maggie, Tatiana, and Carson set up the party and Carson came up with the costume idea. I didn't really do any work..." Sylvie laughed. She still felt awful that she didn't do anything. She felt like the person who did no work in a group project and still got an A+. No one liked that person.  "Well, like I was saying before, you look absolutely stunning! You and that Gaston girl did a great job." Sylvie admired the beautiful golden dress that Charlotte was wearing. It was probably one of, if not Sylvie's favorite costume. 

Another girl walked came over to Sylvie. "I think her name is... Margo? Yeah that's it." The two girls hadn't really spoken before, but they were both secound year Slytherins, so their paths had crossed a few times. “Oh, thanks! One sec...” Sylvie looked over too the three boys, and started to laugh. “I honestly have no clue what those too are doing. Looks like they’re having fun, which is good.” Right after she said this the girl went over too Koko, who seemed to be leaving. “Oh, okay bye...” She said, taking another sip of her drink and gulping the cold liquid down. She turned her attention back to Charlotte. “That girl, her name’s Margo right? I haven’t really talked to her before.”

Hey guys! This is gonna be OOC while I explain the rules of the competition. Before I say anything, though, I have to apologize for how inactive I’ve been. I’m on vacation right now, so my replies are gonna be hella slow lmao Anyways, here’s how this is going to work: if you want to be in the competition, just owl me. I’ll add your name to the roster for when we vote. If you’re in a group costume, you can register for both competitions, as there will be a group costume prize and a solo costume prize. That’s it! Below is my IC RP for announcing the contest, if anyone wants to react to that.

“Both.” Maggie responded, shooting Tatiana a shit-eating grin as she stood from her seat on the stage. She grabbed one of those fake microphones little kids used, the ones that made your voice all ehco-ey, from where it sat in a corner of the stage. She didn’t have enough money to buy an actual megaphone or anything, and her mum would never spend money on that.

“Hey guys!” Maggie called, grabbing everyone’s attention. She grinned at them all as they gathered around the stage. She was more than happy with the turnout, around twenty students had arrived, all of them in costume.

“I know everyone is having an amazing time,” she joked cockily, grinning at them as she spoke, “but we all know why you came here: the costume party!” she punctuated this with jazz hands, whichmade her look like a complete dork, but she was okay with it.

“If you want to be in it, just line up over there,” She pointed over to the right side of the stage, “and if you don’t, well, I guess that’s better odds for me then, huh?” she laughed, her hair turning a light shade of orange as she joked around.

“Good luck!” she called, jumping down from the stage and waving her group over. “Okay, you guys know we’ll be acting as ‘judges’, right? I mean, the winner will be up to a vote, obviously, but we’ll be the hosts, kind of.” Maggie had hoped her friends were okay with it, as she’d realized last-minute that they needed someone to help make the thing feel more contest-y. If they weren’t okay with it, however, that was fine, and they could either compete with Maggie and whoever else wanted to in the group costume, or not compete at all.

Okay, so I changed things around a bit. I only got like, five requests to be in the competition, and a bunch of people who I thought had wanted to be in it didn’t owl me. So, I put everyone in. If you don’t want to be in the competition, owl me! I’m working on figuring out a way for you guys to vote, and when I do I’ll attach a link to this message or make a new one so it’ll notify you.

Charlotte saw the evident embarrassment on Sylvie's face and hoped the girl didn't think for one instant she had approached her out of pity. She simply was one of her friends, and Charlotte had been more than happy to finally spot her amidst the crowd of disguised student. Margo had joined them for a few seconds before hurrying over to another group of students.

“Ta for the compliment, but seriously, how did you even manage to pull that magic off? Your dress is amazing.”

Slightly taken aback from the fact the girl had just complemented her, Charlotte took a few moments to respond.

'Th-Thanks a lot!'
she said, her eyebrows raised.

The girl didn't stay very long, and a few seconds went by before she was gone to see someone else.

“That girl, her name’s Margo right? I haven’t really talked to her before.”
Sylvie asked.

'Yes, Margo White. We had some sort of, er- adventure in October. Involved falling into the lake…'
she said jokingly as she poured herself a drink in a plastic cup.

The party was truly amazing. Charlotte had been very hesitant at first, but she had clearly underestimated her cousin. Instead of simply staying in the corner watching everyone, she had actually talked to many people, even danced with Carson. The thought of that brought a shy smile to her face as she sipped her drink silently. Hopefully her costume had impressed enough, and looked down at her gown still amazed at what her mom had managed to do. The competition was about to start soon, and Charlotte glanced around the room to try and spot her friend, Fumiko. Now would probably be a good time to reunite, but the last thing she wanted to do right now was to put on a fake smile and walk around with her, plus, Sylvie's company was truly enjoyable.

'How about we try and join a group, maybe the girls over there?'
she said as pointed in front of her, hoping the girl would see who she was talking about.
'Er- One of them is wearing a- a 20's dress? The other one is wearing a fabulous flower headband'

Her cup in hand, she headed towards the girl, hoping she wasn't interrupting them in an important conversation. She knew that in a couple of minutes, Maggie would start the competition so she hurried towards the girl hoping to talk a little bit before.

'Hi there! I'm Charlotte.'
she said with a warm smile on her face.
