January 22ndAfter watching his former adversary take the mat earlier in the season Matthew was once again called to aid as the fellow second year seemingly took another firstie under her wing to teach them the ropes. It seemed an admirable quality to the boy who was all the more happy to continue his experience as a referee whenever he could.
As the two entered the hall for the first time he was sure to welcome them both with a wide grin, this past month had exposed its fair share of challenges but he was determined to lead the end of it to greener pastures. Repping a comfortable hand knit green sweater indicative of both his favourite colour and house his voice echoed through the empty club, having been scheduled for their duel. From the look of the blonde boy he certainly carried an air of confidence but having seen Tracey first hand and felt her fury he always wondered what kept these kids from coming back.
Whatever it was it was a great way to introduce them to a sport he had come to love and so wrapping them both up in the calming aura he was beginning to grow to understand he welcomed them both. "Good to have you back Tracey, and lovely to meet you Pettely I hope you're prepared to face the talons on this one!" Matthew couldn't be sure that it was the boys first duel as the air of assurance he carried made him fit right in but he felt it his duty still to explain the rules as he walked them up to the piste before settling into his position.
Then with a grin rivalling the Cheshire cat's he allowed the witch and wizard to ready their wands and lighting his own with a quick yet bright "Lumos," he let the games begin!I N F O R M A T I O NGood luck and most importantly have fun!

It was no secret that Pettely loved to make others feel lost and defeated. So, when he found out that it was actually legal according to the Wizarding Laws to use magic and torture someone until they are knocked out, he had to try dueling.
He actively searched for a partner everyday, everywhere, it was hard finding a partner than he thought it would be, not because people weren't interested in dueling, but the reason was that Pettely's over-confidence and massive eagerness to duel scared many people off. Some people around him told Pettely that he shouldn't try such a rough sport when he's not farmiliar with the Wizarding World yet, but he wouldn't listen.
Some time later, when he saw Tracey's owl agreeing to duel with him, he couldn't help but dance of excitement. "Whoo-hoo!" He yelled as he jumped around in the boy's dorm.
As he entered the dueling room walking with confident aura around him, he saw his opponent, and he couldn't help but get intimidated, but only a little. The moderator was already there too. He seemed quite friendly at first glance, then he noticed the green tie he was wearing, Pettely stared at him for a while to see if he could find the inner snake anywhere.
If you are wondering why he was late to this duel, he kept doing some last minute preparation and lost track of time---though that did not matter to him now.
As he raised his wand right before the duel began, he secretly imagined his older opponent burning dreadfully in the flames of his Fire Spell.

I don't mean anything that I say on this RP, this is from Pettely's perspective and I am simply narrating it. Don't get mad at me if you found some parts of it offensive, if you really can't stand it though, owl me the problem then I'll gladly fix it.

January 22nd
As the bright light shimmered out the two duellists didn't waste a second positioning themselves in a defensive stance while their wands teetered eagerly in their grasps waiting for the perfect chance to strike. It was no surprise that the senior was the first to move given her affinity for duelling and place on the Ravenclaw team but still he found himself watching with baited breath as she whipped her wand and maneuvered it in the very spell he had used to fell her.
Unfortunately for the bold raven the spell failed to reach it's mark as the blonde boy, who's eyes seemed to burn with a envigored determination, threw himself out of the way dodging with a level far beyond his age. Yet while Pettely may have had the quick spring of youth in his step it seemed his casting was to be less desired. In fact for a moment Matthew was sure the spell wouldn't take but by some force of sheer will, flame began to flicker out the top of his wand shooting its fiery blaze straight towards his opponent yearning to burn her feathers.
Tracey hadn't given up, however, and it seemed that the pair were equally matched in their evasive manoeuvres. To say the girl simply dodged the spell would be unfair to her abilities as she moved with such precise grace it was as if the very air around her bent to her will. With no one yet to be hit Matthew's golden flecked eyes danced illuminated by the now fading fire as he praised them both for their work while goading them to continue, "Great dodging but this isn't ballet. Show me what you've both got!"

The duel had begun. Tracey and Pettely both positioned themselves defensively, gripping their wands tightly in their hands, waiting for the perfect momment to strike, it was like a western stand-off--except, well, with magic.
Tracey took the first shot, she casted a powerful Knockback Jinx, heading directly towards Pettely. As the spell shot across the room, it was no lie that he felt a bit anxious, he had never been attacked directly by a spell before. Pettely's eyes filled with sheer determination as he stared at the spell heading straight towards him.
He had dodged it.
It was harder then he thought it would be, even if he was only a split second late--the spell would've hitten him and cause massive damage. It was Pettely's turn to strike now, and his heart burned with the inner flame that he had, at that momment, he knew what spell to use. "Incendio-o!" He had stuttered, and for a second, he thought the spell would just fizzle out and fail, but nevertheless, the jet of fire shot out from his wand heading straight towards Tracey, who dodged the spell with ease and grace. "Fuck." He said, disappointed.
"Great dodging but this isn't ballet. Show me what you've both got!"
And while he found that comment slightly offensive, Pettely gave the moderator a quick thumbs-up, signaling that he understood.

Pettely's crass language might have gotten him into trouble with a professor and potentially even other Duelling referees but Matthew knew the overwhelming disappointed when a spell missed the mark all too well so nothing but a knowing smile tilted his way upon the expletive. Tracey on the other hand showed not only her skills on the field with her grace but also her decorum for the humble acceptance she took upon her spell being dodged. Truly she flew above it all like the raven she was.
The difficult things about ravens is that wings are very susceptible to fire and this time when Pettely readied his inferno his blaze aimed true clipping the girl in the shoulder as she winced from it's firey tendrils. Now this was the very action the boy had hoped to be seeing. While Pettely's power was nothing to boast about his attention to detail in his accuracy and evasion was unparalleled and he masterfully whipped around the rather nasty tickling charm Tracey had brewed up after her brief dance with flame.
Luckily for the girl the blaze was a mere singe though her hair frayed slightly at the tips, nothing a metamorphmagus couldn't fix, and she was able to keep herself from completely combusting into flame, but how long could that last. It seemed the young first year was a pyromaniac in the making and none would be safe from his flames for long. Heartily enjoying the fight as he let out a laugh he leveled his mischievous gaze on Tracey saying, "If you don't want it to be roast raven in the great hall tonight you'd better start proving why your house is deemed the smartest!" Then turning towards the young blonde menace he smirked and tone full of encouragement said, "That's more like it and here I thought hufflepuffs were meant to be the friendly, hugging type." Served with a healthy eye roll relaying his opinions over the antiquated personality based house system he let the match play on wondering whom the next advantage would lie with.

"Great dodging but this isn't ballet. Show me what you've both got!"
And he did, at least in Pettely's opinion, showed everyone what he could offer. It took everyone by a bit of surprise of course, that a random Hufflepuff student who isn't even in the Hufflepuff dueling team had managed lend a hit on an OLDER Ravenclaw student who IS on the Hogwarts dueling team in Pettely's very FIRST duel.
It all happened in a blink of an eye, after the moderator's rude comment, his heart fumed with determination, he had to succeed! He had to prove that this wasn't just going to be a one-sided fight that had a clear winner between an older and a younger student.
He shouted with all the strength he could muster, "Incendio!" A Jet of flame shot from his wand, heading straight at Tracey. Pettely squinted his eyes for a second, he was afraid of the disappointment that would consume him after he found out she had dodged it, again.
"Let's fucking go!!!"
Pettely yelled with joy as he opened his eyes to see the Ravenclaw student burning in flames of his own spell. The fire didn't last that long though, it seemed that it didn't cause any MASSIVE damage either, but Pettely didn't care. As long as he dodged most spells casted by Tracey, he would last long enough to be able to knock his opponent down, slowly but surely.
As he was still celebrating, he noticed a spell flying straight at him out of the corner of his eye. He succesfully dodged it with ease, his reflexes were fueled by the adrenaline and joy his heart was pumping with at the moment.
"If you don't want it to be roast raven in the great hall tonight you'd better start proving why your house is deemed the smartest!"
The moderator's comment made Pettely go wild, he couldn't help laughing to it! He knew he wasn't being a great sport so far, but he wasn't much of a great person to begin with...He also heard the moderator say something about Hufflepuffs? He couldn't focus on that part.

January 22nd
Tracey's hair turned to a fiery red but the stare she bore through Matthew held far more heat and the referee found himself holding his hands up in protest. Why the girl from his year seemed so adverse to flame seemed contradictory given her natural transfiguration acumen but he was simply here to moderate after all the Viper's never let their guard down or their strategies known for cunning was a most useful trait in war.
Releasing yet another burst of flame that ripped through the air adding even more heat to the duel Pettely was beginning to seem quite comfortable in the fray even if his unsportsmanlike behaviour did receive a glare from both the others. As flame roared past Matthew's face he watched on in hope that the raven might be ready this time but it seemed her change of hair only drew the flame towards her. Catching her squarely in the chest this time Matthew couldn't help but wince as the girl had the wind knocked out of her flame trickling over her shirt. Yet like the adaptive being she was paired with her experience had her managing to negate the fire before it could catch alight preventing her from further burning once more.
It was clear that the match was not going in Tracey's favour for the moment but duelling was a fickle sport especially when it came to luck and Matthew had seen matches turn around with worse odds so he kept his opinions to himself. Trying to regain her footing she focused on Pettely's and guided a Tarantallegra hoping that if the boy wanted to celebrate so badly he may as well dance with excitement. While her aim was true his footwork superseded her jumping at the last minute still overtly celebrating his success.
Returning to a neutral stance seemed like a wise decision given Tracey's unfortunate luck and Pettely's somewhat obnoxious celebrating, "Great casting Pettely! Tracey you almost had it don't let him get in your head and let's keep things friendly folks this is all for fun!"
