Boredom really fucking sucked, like not even exaggerating. Sandy had done some weird things while bored. Spending all her allowance on stupid gifts for her family, petting every cat she came across (she got bit only once out of the seven cats she saw!), throwing rocks at trees and accidentally hitting someone's head with a full speed palm sized rock.
Okay, not her greatest moment, but at least she didn't hit a dog. If she had hit a dog, or even worse, a puppy, she would've started sobbing. She only felt mildly bad about pelting someone with that rock.
Even then, she was still having fun. While her group was distracted with other means, like schoolwork and assignments that they had procrastinated just enough until their parents nagged them about it, Sandy kept herself occupied. Here, at Hogwarts, she couldn't just go around trying to hunt people with a large stone and call it fun. No, she wasn't malicious enough for that. Maybe one day, if a certain boy called her a mudblood again, but not for now. For now, she was calm, kept deftly to herself.
It was the quieter times of the day, without the average noise and chaos of everyone trying to get around to places. Sandy didn't like that. Actually, she hated it. With others around, it was easier to blend in, act like she wasn't just wandering around like she got knocked on the head and lost all memory of how to act human. She looked stupid, and she knew that.
So, she busied herself. She kept her head down, pretending to check her nails or look around for an unknown friend that didn't actually exist. The blonde would look around occasionally, eyebrows raising in an attempt to seem intrigued by her surroundings, before promptly dropping once more as she continued walking. With such ample time, it was easy enough to use this time to think. Hardly anybody was around her little hallway, and so she slowed her pace, pondering on her life.
For about a second, until she got distracted. Instead, she decided to think about people she had met. They were all... Well, to put it nicely, intriguing. Sandy would never go out of her way to judge someone, but... It was kinda difficult not to. She had met about a whopping one person that was normal, and still they were off in some way. Nobody here had any sense of what it meant to be a child! Nobody here was taking time to jump in a body of water for fun, nor were they planning on-
-Alright, yeah, she pushed that rock joke far enough. She let the idea go.
Swinging her arms in an animated form, she kept that slow pace, zoned out and in her own little mind palace. Maybe she should get a dog, and then that dog could keep her entertained. Or an owl. Do owls do things other than look really judgmental? What other things could she get... A frog was an option, but those things were gross. A cat would be cute, but they weren't active enough for her... She'd just stick to getting a dog one day. Or maybe she'd find herself a cute boy who had a dog... Or maybe just a girl-
Friend. Friend who was a girl. Maybe that friend who just happened to be a girl would have a dog, and she would go over to have very normal and platonic normal friend times with that girl.
Sandy sighed, twirling a front strand of hair. One day.

Today, Novalie felt a surge of extreme energy.
Usually, the Metamorphmagus was content with a few cartwheels to get from point A to point B, climbing trees after lessons or seeing how long she could stay upright in a handstand. But not today.
Today, something was different. A restless fire seemed to burn inside her!
During her lessons earlier, she couldn’t sit still. Her fidgeting and constant motion had been so infectious that some classmates had switched seats - but not because she was annoying, of course, but because her enthusiasm was dangerously fun.
Now, Novalie was back handspringing her way down the corridors, one after another, her energy uncontainable. She was a bouncy ball, ricocheting off the walls with boundless energy - a yo-yo in perpetual motion, whipped up and down by its owner without a single pause! Yes, a bottle of soda, shaken far too much, fizzing and ready to explode!
With hardly anyone around, she wasn’t even worried about crashing into someone. That is, well, until she did.
“Whoa!?”
It all happened in a blur. One moment, she was breaking her own record for consecutive back handsprings. The next, she was sitting on top of someone she’d just knocked over.
Not hurt in the slightest however - and not really considering that the other person might be - Novalie looked down at the girl beneath her with a smile. She recognized her instantly!
It wasn’t just the pale blonde hair or the strikingly light blue eyes. It was rather the freckles scattered across her tanned skin, reminding the redhead of someone flicking a paintbrush, scattering tiny dots of paint across a canvas and.. wait, were those little scars?
Novalie’s eyes widened, curiosity lighting them up. She took the moment to unabashedly stare at study the girl, her red curls brushing against her as she leaned closer.
“You…”, Novalie began, tilting her head slightly the grin on her lips growing, “…look like a really cool adventurer!”
Without bothering to stand up and give the girl space, the redhead leaned in further, as if this was the most natural thing in the world.
“Your name is Sandy, right? I’ve seen you in Defense Against the Dark Arts - ah, no, I mean .. Transfiguration? Anyway-”
Her grin stretched wider as she beamed down at Sandy,
“Where are we going now?”
In her mind, it was obvious. Of course, they were friends now. And, naturally, they’d hang out together. That’s just how these things worked.

Alright, there had been a lot of weird things happening just in the duration of this minimal school year. She had already gotten in a PHYSICAL ALTERCATION, had panicked more over sitting on the same bench as another girl than she had ever panicked over a horror movie in her life, and was now being sent hurdling to the ground after some flurry of acrobatic movement had hit her square in the face.
Well, it wasn't square in the face. It was more like, to the left and a bit up from dead center of her chest, but it still hurt like a bitch. She was pretty good when it came to pain, never quite whining about it, and yet this was just another level. Petty hurt. It was like, pretending to be hurt when Frazier shoved her too hard just to make him feel guilty. The stinging, vibrational feeling that sounded through her bones as she landed harsh on the ground and the added weight of the other person left no wonder at the fact that she would be hurt afterwards, but it depended on if she would express that.
Sandy decided she would not.
Laying flat on her back, arms sprawled out in a deformed starfish position, the rattling of her marble brain took some time to adjust. It took a solid moment, readjusting just as the girl on top of her began speaking. A cool adventurer? What in the world did that mean? Sure, she looked around a lot, explored for the funsies of it, but a cool adventurer? Actually, the more she thought about it, the more she liked that name. Just... More a reason of confusion than distaste. Hell yeah she could be a cool adventurer, but not while there was someone on top of her.
That final fact seemed to click right as her mysterious attacker leaned in, a violent red alarm striking through her brain. The reaction was akin to a prey animal, fruitlessly attempting to shrink away from the girl, blue eyes widened to an almost comedic extent. There was someone, scratch that, a girl on top of her. A girl! Maybe she was overreacting a tad bit, and maybe the overwhelming violence of a scorching heat that surrounded her body wasn't quite the best move when trying to form coherent thoughts, but it was honest work. Well, honest as she'd get without admitting how she really felt in this situation.
A faint mumbling escaped Sandy as she pieced together her thoughts, one hand moving to rest over her eyes to distract from the redhead. She could feel the faint dampness of her palm against her face, a dull reminder of how she needed to learn temperature regulation or just start carrying an icepack wherever she went.
"A...Uh.... What now? Going huh?" The words were strained, spoken in an almost pitifully meek tone, "I-I don't know... What you mean by... Uh... Oh wait, name. Um... Yeah, yeah. Sandy. You- I don't remember your name. I can't see you. Like, at all. You're blurry. And it's also really warm in here. I can't think. Sorry."
If under any time before, any moment that she had proper comprehension of her own thoughts above the loud flustered screeching within her mind, Sandy would've kicked herself. But right now she had absolutely nothing in that little pea brain of hers, and she would prefer if it stayed that way until she got to her room. Well, that is if this girl got off of her anytime soon. Thinking about it now, it probably wouldn't be too difficult to shimmy her off... But then again, that would be like super embarrassing. It's definitely not that she just liked the feeling of human touch in any way shape or form though! Not at all! Because that would mean she was weird, and Sandy was NOT a weirdo!

We Just Got The Start Wrong.
The Ravenclaw gazed down at Sandy expectantly, already certain she’d come up with an amazing idea for an adventure on the spot. After all, someone with that many little scars had to be constantly on the move, right?
But to Novalie’s surprise, the girl hesitated, fumbled over her own words and covered her eyes - the very ones Novalie had enjoyed staring at up until now.
Huh?? What was that about? And she also said she couldn’t think? What did she mean by that? How could someone not think?
Oh, or - had Novalie accidentally given her a concussion or something? Did her skull break a bit?
Well... but, uh.. Sandy was still breathing and talking and all, so it couldn’t be that bad, right?
Yeah -- she’d be fine! All good!
“You know what?”, the redhead didn’t bother questioning why the lioness had hidden her eyes in the first place.
Instead, she grabbed Sandy’s wrist and pinned it to the floor, leaning in even closer with a playful smile in the process. Now, yet again with a clear view of those heavenly blue windows to her soul, Novalie continued.
“Your eyes are, like... really bright! Actually, they somehow remind me a lot of my best friend. He has blonde hair too, just like you, and - oh my god!”
A sudden thought struck her and with a giggle, she blurted her thoughts out instantly,
“Are you two siblings?! That’d be so sick! His name’s Oliver - you probably know him.”
She knewOllie had an older brother and some truly stuck-up parents, but anything else? No. Sadly. But nothing to worry, the Metamorphmagus would change that soon enough. She already promised that to herself.
Anyway - perhaps he had a secret sister and Novalie had just found her!
Wow…
... but also, hm.
Now Novalie kinda wanted to be Ollie’s sister too. If she turned her hair blonde and adjusted a few facial features, he’d perchance adopt her as well? No, yeah - he totally would! Novalie could already picture how excited Oliver would be. She knew him so well.
How had she not thought of this sooner?
Without hesitation, the Ravenclaw shut her eyes, concentrating on her ability. She pictured herself with the same hair as Sandy for a moment. She didn’t feel anything actively change, nor did she receive some sort of signal in her mind that it had worked. It was more of an... instinctive certainty, if one could phrase it like that - very subtle yet undeniable, like an intuition. It had taken Novalie months to get to this level, to listen to her own gut. She couldn't quiet describe it all, honestly. Though, within seconds, the fiery red of her curls faded, shifting into a soft blonde. When she opened her eyes again, they sparkled a light blue, similar to Sandys'.
“Hah, see? Now we can be sisters too!”
Come to think about it, Novalie had always pictured having a sister. Growing up surrounded by older brothers was fun, no doubt, but the idea of having another girl in the mix had lingered in her mind more than once.
Finally, she let go of Sandy and sprang to her feet, holding out a hand to help her up.
“Let’s find Ollie!”, she declared, hyped for their mission, “He’s probably outside studying Herbology or something clever like that. He’s extremely smart, right?”
Novalie was talking as if Sandy was definitely Oliver’s sister - and, of course, as if she already knew him well, too.
“And so cool! He's, like, the best of the best!”

Scratch anything she had said before. No, just scratch out every single thought she had ever had. Weird events seemed to be the newest trend in this school, orange is the new black but horribly wrong. She was used to weird things! She lived with a guy who spent all his time in a garage, a highschool guidance counselor, a wedding photographer and three insane teenagers. Hell, she was at least ninety eight percent sure that whatever crap Atsumi and Claude got up to would leave Frazier with grey hair and a cane, but Hogwarts was an entirely different demon. No, Hogwarts was an entirely different level of hell.
Sandy can distantly make out the idea that this was an entirely odd situation, just by this stranger still being on top of her, but the pressure of literally being PINNED DOWN? Whole lot different. She's confused, for one, terribly so. Was this normal? No way. Sandy had been around a bunch of girls - did any of them like her? Up for debate, but none of them had the audacity to pin her to the ground when they were already on top of her. This just seemed like overkill, and her body very obviously agreed. There was no longer a wide-eyed quality to her expression, instead something of faint distress firm. Is she complaining? Not quite, but she'd also prefer something like this maybe. Not. In the middle of a hall?
Not that she actually wanted this. She was just joking. Totally. It was just... An idea. A really nice idea. She liked physical touch, but she preferred when it was normal and sane and atleast lightly consensual. Sandy was willing to give a pass though, just this once.
Nevermind. NEVERMIND. It became quickly apparent that a normal interaction was far from what would happen, and every single prey instinct seemed to kick into action as the stranger leaned closer to her face. A complete disregard of whatever was said was obvious, shrinking up on herself. Bright eyes? Siblings? Who? Who was Oliver? The name seemed familiar, but she just... Couldn't put her finger on it. She knew for sure that she didn't have any siblings though. Well, maybe she did? She was adopted, so she wasn't entirely sure of any biological siblings, but...
"Uh, no... I don't think we're siblings. I-I don't-"
Sandy needed a notebook just to jot down whatever was going on. First, she had been mysteriously attacked in the middle of a hallway, and then pinned to the floor, accused of having a secret sibling, and now her attacker was. Changing? Sandy may have been blind, but she was not colorblind. The distinct shifting of hair color, the change of eye color- It was horribly terrifying, and Sandy had to resist kicking the student off to run away. She didn't want to know what creature she had just stumbled upon, didn't want to die a horrible death at the hands of someone who could steal and change colors, but she also didn't really want to move. What? Sue her! It was warm!
"Wh..." There's a distinct confusion to her half-word, mouth slightly hung open as the stranger continued to talk on and on about this Oliver boy, now on her feet and offering a hand out. It might've been the potential concussion she had been given just moments prior, but her mind struggled to catch up, hand still grasping the monster-creature-changeling with the slightest bit of hesitance as she forced herself to her feet. Everything felt sore, a distinct pain in her back, but her main priority was... Figuring out this supposed sibling.
"Um... Maybe. I don't know. I-" Is this a prank? It had to be, "Are you just... Y'know what, whatever, I don't care. Sure, lets uh... Go find him. Yay... Go team..."

We Just Got The Start Wrong.
As expected, Sandy took up Novalie’s offer to find her long-lost sibling. Who wouldn’t want to track down their secret brother in this situation? Plus, the redhead hadn’t seen Oliver all day, so really, it was like hitting two birds with one stone.
Ohh and she couldn’t wait to see him, announcing that Sandy - and by a little extension, Novalie - were now officially his sisters! The Slytherin was going to love this. Not to mention, it gave them more reason to hang out!
If they were to ran into Aaron along the way, she could tell him too - since, obviously, he'd be part of the family as well.
As soon as Sandy got to her feet, Novalie released her hand only to take it back with her other, their fingers locking together as if they had been holding hands the whole time. A familiar gesture for Novalie, entirely ordinary in her eyes, actually. She was almost always linking arms or grabbing hands, directing people wherever she decided they needed to go. And at the moment, that direction was down the corridor.
“What name are we taking now that we’re siblings?”, the Metamorphmagus mused aloud, “Probably his, right? Since Aaron’s also called Armani. And he still has both parents and some younger siblings, I believe. The fewer who have to change their names, the better. I hate unnecessary hassle.”
She showed the Gryffindor her brightest grin as they kept walking, “Sandy Armani and Novalie Armani. Sounds impressive, doesn’t it?”
Her excitement only grew as more ideas cascaded into her head, each pushing the last aside like an overenthusiastic game of tag.
“We’ll be triplets - oh! Wait! Don’t twins, triplets, and all those people have, like, a telepathic bond or something? I heard about a story where twins even felt what the other was experiencing! It was on an episode of Beyond Belief! You probably know that show if you’re from a Muggle family.”
Hold up-
Novalie’s eyes widened as another thought crashed into her mind,
“Are you a Muggleborn? Or are you one of those, what do they call them again - Purebloods? Yeah, that’s it. I do not get how none of them owns a smartphone, honestly. Like, I understand that magic is super practical, but why not use electronics too? It’s not like their magic would mysteriously vanish if they just had the best of both worlds, right?”
She paused for barely a breath as they arrived at the moving staircases, waiting for one to shift in their direction. The Ravenclaw gave Sandy’s hand a soft squeeze, her face lighting up as yet another brilliant idea struck her.
“Ah - should we try to break every magical rule that exists and get electronics to work here? Imagine if we could blast music in these halls with a giant Ghetto Blaster! The echo in here would be insane!”
She carried on, already planning the experiment in her head.
“I can ask my brothers to send me something with an owl, and then we can test so many things! You can ask your family too.” - Novalie had already decided Sandy must be a Muggleborn with absolutely no proof whatsoever - “This is going to be so much fun! What do you think?”

What the fuck was Sandy getting herself into.
With only a small moment of silence for any internal composure or temperature regulation, Sandy is once more thrust back into the realm of prolonged physical touch and that uncanny lightheaded feeling. You know, she really needed to figure that out. Could it be a medical ailment? Atsumi was never the most healthy, if not entirely transparent by the almost consistent coughing and general aura of a sickly Victorian child, yet this seemed almost entirely different. Would Atsumi know how to fix this? If they were already sick almost everyday, who's to say they wouldn't know how to fix her problems? But... The real question was whether she really wanted to go to them of all people for advice. Don't get her wrong, good person, but talking to the person who tried to bring multiple crabs into the house on multiple occasions? Sandy wasn't so sure they were the pinnacle of good decisions, let alone answers.
At the suggestion of the names, a small grimace prevalent, "I don't know about impressive... It sounds kinda ugly, actually. The fact that it starts with an A really throws off any rhyme to it... Like, cause there's that super duper annoying pause..? Sandy, breath, arr-mani. Gross, right? A-and, if we're..." Sandy inhales, trying to push down as much disgust as she possibly can before speaking, "...Long lost siblings... Would we not still be designated to whatever family we, like, originated from? I dunno about you, but I kinda love my family, so..."
She hated this. She really hated this. Unfortunately for her, though, the girl - Novalie, wasn't that a beautiful name? - seemed so absurdly excited at just her even light amount of acceptance. Sandy had already been weakened after the sudden attack, that was definitely it. Not the obnoxiously blinding grin tossed her way in between words or the way her heart thrummed against her ribcage every single time she spoke. Wasn't it ridiculous? To be this... Distraught? Over average conversation and some enthusiasm to be speaking to her? Her standards for friendship, or whatever this was, was really low.
And despite all the crashing negatives, as well as the pain in her chest, Sandy smiled, "It's silly, is it not? I'm not sure I could ever survive without any electronics... I mean, my letterboxd? My spotify? I- Goodness, you wouldn't understand the amount of time I've spent working on those. I have playlists for everything, every mood I could ever need. I think I have a playlist for when I'm showering, but that's just cause I hate the sound of angry water mixed with dull conversation from the hallway. It's just so bleak without music, I think more pure-whatevers need to be musicians. A-and, uh, I don't think triplets would be... The correct thing? I mean, I don't think we're all born on the same day."
Once more, an unusual stutter in her heart at the squeeze. Sandy forced it down, pressure against pressure, the gentle press of her thumb against the girl's hand. A small reminder at the light pressure of eventually requesting for a momentary release of her hand popped into her mind, frown just almost inching onto her face with the knowledge of how sweaty her hands would get on an almost constant basis, and yet she continued once more.
"Magical rules... Not sure how we'll manage it, but you seem excited ssoooo... Sure? I mean, can't be too hard, right? Can recruit some, uh, pure... Whatever. Eugh, I hate the name purebloods. It reminds me of like, extra virgin olive oil? Does that make sense? Like 100% pure virgin olive oil except if you made it human and put a stick up its ass occasionally. What was I saying? Something something pure, something recruit... Oh, yeah. We can see if they'll have any luck with knowledge."
