If the corridors and staircases of Hogwarts were a lot of trouble navigating, Elisa would never get lost when it came to getting to the library. She had taken the route way too often to take a wrong turn - indeed, almost everyday, the Slytherin girl would spend at least an hour in the library, mostly reading but also doing her homework there, as it was far quieter than the busy common room.
Elisa arrived at the welcoming oak doors of the library, and her face lit up as the scent of old parchment and polished wood met her nostrils. She stepped inside, navigating through the towering shelves to settle in her usual armchair. She already had a book in her satchel, one she picked out a few days earlier. Sticking her arm inside her satchel, her fingers searched around until they touched a rough book cover. Satisfied, Elisa grasped the book and laid it on her lap, the golden letters on the cover glistening at her.
Elisa had found the book in the section of the library about healing magic, and unlike others she had read before, this one explained in depth the principles, basics, and uses of healing magic. Drawn by the precision and detail the author wrote with, the clarity of the explanations and the accuracy of the facts, Elisa had been submerged in the book ever since she picked it up from the library.
She opened the book to where she had last left a bookmark. The left page displayed an intricate illustration of a plant, while the right page was full of tiny letters. Settling her eyes on the rows of words, Elisa plunged into the book once again, henceforth unaware of everything around her.⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤

Reyna hadn't ventured to the library in quite a while, since she had been very busy. Her third year had proved to be much more difficult than any of the others. Probably due to the fact that she now had elective classes, and her curious self wanted to take a look at all of them. However, she had made a promise to herself that winter break that she would go to the library at least once this year, and maybe pick up a few books on healing magic. Healing magic. Her newfound passion. She had found that she had a knack for healing spells, and the world of healing intrigued her. This was all because of her grandpa who had given her her love of healing. Since she had read the 3 books her grandpa had given her for her birthday on healing magic, she decided she would find some more in the vast library at Hogwarts. After all, the library was huge and wondrous filled with so much knowledge. The library had been her Saturday evenings in her first year. She remembered so many memories from those times. As she entered the library, she wandered to the healing section, picking up two books that sounded interesting to her. Wanting to find a table to sit, she sat down near a younger Slytherin girl, who coincidentally seemed to be reading the same book she was holding. Thinking that this had to be fate, she decided that this was sign she should talk to this girl. "Hey! My name's Reyna. I noticed you're reading that book about healing magic, is it good? I was just about to read it." she asked, smiling, hoping that she hadn't disturbed her. And maybe she would find another friend out of this encounter, a friend who she could talk too. |

This made the young girl's face light up, and she stretched her grin into a small smile. "Yes, I am reading about healing magic! This book is actually one of the best I've read so far... And I've read quite a lot of books on this subject", she said, glad that there was the excuse of being in a library to justify how small her voice was. Indeed she wasn't very comfortable around people apart from her classmates here at Hogwarts.
Despite her outward shyness, Elisa was secretly glad that there was finally someone she could share her passion of healing with. And, though she would never admit it, the prospect of making a new friend made her heart hammer in her chest. She hoped silently with all she could that the girl would not go away too quickly.⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤

Reyna was excited to have a friend to talk to about healing magic, something she really enjoyed. "It's nice to meet you too!" she said to the younger Slytherin who she found was named Elisa. A pretty name. Reyna was glad to know that the book she was holding, and the book Elisa was reading was good. She took a seat beside Elisa and placed the book on the table. "Oh good! I was just about to read it and I figured I might as well ask how it is before I dive in!" she giggled. "Are you into healing magic or are you just reading about it for fun?" she asked. She hadn't meant to interrupt Elisa from reading, but she secretly hoped that the two could just talk and read together. She hoped that Elisa wanted to do the same with her. She opened the book to the first page and scanned the rows and rows of words. So much information and so many new things to learn. She wondered if she would learn any new spells or potions from this book that could help heal someone. "Have you ever performed a healing spell on someone before?" she asked Elisa. She had once on this little boy. She had no idea where he was now. She hoped he was ok. She went back to her book, eager to learn some new information. Her grandpa would be so proud of her. She hoped. |

Things got nearer to her comfort zone as Reyna asked her if she was interested in healing magic. "I am! I like reading in general, but healing magic is something I'm passionate about," she beamed, "My mother's a Healer and my grandparents are muggle doctors, so I want to become a Healer as well after graduation." She looked as her upperclassman flipped the book open.
"Are you interested in healing as well?" This time, she had trouble hiding the excitement in her voice. She was well aware that quite a number of Hogwarts students aspired to become Healers, but this was the first time she had ever discussed the matter with a peer.
Then Reyna asked whether she had ever performed any healing spells. Elisa shook her head and said, "I haven't learnt many healing spells yet... My mother wants me to focus on theory first, and she's teaching me some muggle first aid skills as well." She paused. "I think some basic healing spells are taught at Hogwarts in third year, right?" If her memory hadn't failed her, Reyna was probably one of the Hufflepuff third year students... or perhaps fourth year? In any case, Elisa was fairly sure the girl was older than herself.⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤

Reyna nodded as she listened Elisa. "Whoa! That's so cool! Both your parents are some form of a healer!! That's really amazing! My grandpa's a healer, but he retired so he was teaching me some spells and he gave me some books. So I figured why not get some more! It really intrigued me and I'm thinking about also becoming a healer after graduation!" she said. She grinned. She had just found a friend who had the same hopes as her! How cool was that! She would have to owl her grandpa about this encounter. He would be very proud of her. Reyna nodded her head as Elisa answered her question about whether she knew any spells or not. "I see. Yes, we do learn two I believe in your third year. I've learned both of which this year and I got to help this kid while using it which was really cool. I also used to help out at the Hospital Wing." She glanced at the book and added, "But theory is really important I guess. I'm just anxious to get into the real fun stuff, the actual healing part." She giggled. She was impatient, she had to say that. "Is there anything particular in healing you are interested in?" she questioned. |
