Avery couldn't wait. She woke up to the sun peeking through her half-open blinds. She finally opened her sleepy eyes. Quickly shutting them again because the sun was quite bright. That's when she remembered where she was. She was at her grandparents house. She was in her small room that she usually shared, but her grandparents had gotten a new area added to their house, so now they had more room for everyone!

Avery quickly jumped out of bed, raced over to her suitcase she had dumped on the floor the night before, and grabbed some clothes. Then she rushed to the bathroom to get ready. She quickly dressed, brushed her teeth, and pulled her hair back into a simple French braid before running to her cousin's room.

Dylan was still hard asleep. Completely unaware as to what was about to happen to him. Avery crept us carefully and quietly to the bed. Already knowing that she wouldn't have to. Dylan always slept hard. Avery used to make fun of him when they used to share a room because he also snored like a tractor.

As Avery got closer she paused. Dylan rolled over. His back to her. Perfect. Now it was time. Avery jumped on top of Dylan. Gently shaking him. His sleepy eyes opened slightly, then opened his eyes as wide as saucers. He screamed at almost fell off the bed. Avery couldn't contain her laughter. This was payback for the times he used to do this to her when they were smaller. After getting over his shock, he too, began to laugh.

"Come on. Get ready. It's early, so we'll have extra time before we have to go hiking later." Avery whispered to him. Though, she probably wouldn't have to whisper since Dylan's scream probably woke up the entire house. Avery gave one of her mischievous smiles as she left a confused and still half-asleep Dylan staring at her.

Avery walked into the kitchen to grab a piece of toast and an orange where she found her grandfather sitting at the bar drinking coffee. He smiled mischievously at her. Obviously knowing what had just happened between her and Dylan. He was actually the one that had given Avery the idea. "Had fun getting back at him, now did you?"

Avery laughed and smiled. She had probably enjoyed that a little too much. "Oh yeah. I can't wait to see what else will happen. The prank wars are back!"

"Well, you know, if you ever need any ideas, I'm always open to helping you. That boy has pranked the rest of too many times to count. Now it's his turn to get pranked." Her grandfather said with mirth showing in his eyes.

Avery smiled again and quickly grabbed enough toast and oranges for both her and Dylan. Then she headed out to the front porch to wait for him. Soon after, Dylan appeared in a similar outfit to Avery's. You'd think they were siblings when they really weren't. They just enjoyed acting like siblings, though.

"You ready to see who will actually win this time, Dyl?" Avery asked him as she handed him a piece of toast and an orange. A favorite treat of theirs.

"You're on, Avy." The old nickname from when they were very little reminding her of the past times they had spent together. She wished they could spend more time together than just a few holidays. She really enjoyed playing with him and seeing him.

Once they had finished their breakfast, they raced towards the woods. Both eager to get their first, so they could find the best "wand". "Wands" were usually made of a small stick that somewhat resembled a real wand. Since Avery and Dylan were way too young to have their own wands, this was much safer and better for them.

Finally they got to the log where they always did their dueling. They found the wands they had set aside yesterday in order to continue their duel, and stood up on the log. Both eager to see who would finally take home the title of best dueler.
