Duelling Meta Test Match 7 - Dan vs. Arc

Impressed by Mr. Palmer's quick work in effectively extinguishing the flames, Doc did not see the incoming attack on the boy. It seemed the ravenclaw had wasted no time in getting rid of his opponent. That boy might one day become a skilled duelist, he'd have to admit to himself. Determination to success was an important aspect of the game. You need to want it. To survive. The slytherin had no lack for reflexes however as he narrowly escaped being knocked back by Mr. perscivious. Caradoc silently kept on watching the two boys.

Once again his spell failed. Sigh. Just like life, there were ups and downs in a duel. The most important part was to take as much as advantage when the tide was in your favor and lessen the damage when fate was against you. Having the boy extinguished the flame on him gave Arc time to breath when his spell failed.

The young Prefect took a deep breath, tried to forget his mistake, and focused on his success. He would get it right this time. He was going to win. Once again, he moved his wand. Down, up, and a flick. "Flipendo," said Arc.

Action: Casts The Knockback Jinx

Gave him a terrible cold.
Knocked him across the room.
Lit him on fire.
Tried to knock him across the room again.

As soon as Dan got a better handle on Conjuration, Arc was going to often find bog mud in his shoes. While he was still wearing them. If Dan got the hang of that Accio spell at some point, he'd use it to steal his socks first, just to be spiteful about it.
Dirty playing Ravenclaw must'v thought he was sooooo smart. Couldn't be THAT smart; he was stepping on a snake in bare feet.
Not literally, obviously. He was wearing shoes, and he wasn't stepping on a snake. What was he- Oh right.
Dan tried again, not content to stop until Arc was dripping snot and miserable.
"Mucus Ad Nauseum!"

Too many things happened at once all of a sudden. Caradoc witnessed along with the rest of the crowd how Mr. Palmer's cold finally got the better of him. His eyes now red and swollen whilst his nose kept running profusely. Still, the boy managed to squeeze in a few words. And as he ironically cast the very same spell that would be his undoing, the knockback jinx across the stage soared right at him. Hitting the slytherin straight in the chest, causing his own spell to backfire.

As the tumbling snake landed at the edged of the stage, unconscious, the professor entered the stage. Both his hand raised up, his wand ready in his right. "This duel is over. The victor is Mr. Perscivious of house Ravenclaw!"

As the professor passed the young eagle, he offered the boy an encouraging pat on the shoulder and a fitting smile with it. "Well done my lad. I'm sure we'll find a great duelist in you if you keep this up!" He gave the student a final pat on the back before he went on to tend for the knocked down student across the stage. In a moment's notice he was able to get the boy back to his senses. Though he'd need a day or two in the hospital wing to get rid of that nasty cold.

Dan was thrown backward yet again, and felt unconsciousness coming. Just before he went under, he decided that he would indeed make an exception. This would not be a grudge that he would drop anytime soon. He finally closed his eyes, but opened them again in a few minutes.
"Where am...."

Then he realized he was still in the Dueling Club. And his eyes moved to Arc.
Arc Percivious, you don't know what you've done.

Dan glared at him through swollen eyes.
You have just made the biggest mistake of your LIFE!

Truth be told, this was probably mostly just in the moment anger. But, he'd only know that for sure after a bit of time and when he has a clear head.

Dan Palmer was thrown for the last time before the duel was finally over and Arc was named as the victor. The boy immediately sheathed his wand and let out a sigh. That was...nerve-racking to say the least. Professor Brown came over and patted the dark-haired kid while giving some words of encouragement. And he could feel a smile creeping into his face. Apparently, he needed that.

The professor quickly moved on to the wounded young Slytherin and Arc could not help not to wonder about Dan's condition. How was he? Arc felt somewhat sorry to the other boy and wanted to check on his condition as well. The Ravenclaw Prefect followed the professor and apparently Dan was unconscious. Not for long, though. After a while, the boy opened his eyes and Arc was waiting there.

Dan's eyes met with his and Arc immediately bowed. He had some time to ponder what to say as he waited for the other boy to wake up and he was going to say sorry at first. But then he changed his mind. The Slytherin kid was a fierce warrior and did not need his pity. It would only insult him. Probably.

"Thank you for the duel, Dan Palmer." Arc said sincerely with his head still bowed. "It was a fierce battle and I learn a lot from it. From you. Truly. Thank you."

And he meant his every word.
