· · ─────── · 𖢨 · ─────── · ·Would the child just shut the fuck up for one moment!? Her grating voice was perhaps the worst sound Koko had ever heard. It was as if she didn't even understand the importance of humility! Koko's lips once again curled into a disdainful sneer as the girl proclaimed she was spectacular. 'A spectacular fool,' Koko muttered, purposefully keeping her voice just loud enough for the wind to carry it to the lion-haired girl's ears.
She kept glancing back at the child, gaze catching on the stupid little frog hat. When the child said her clothes matched again, Koko's eyebrows lowered over eyes glittering with malice. The hat clashed with the rest of the girl's outfit, and she couldn't help but think of ideas for how to get rid of it. She wondered if that would induce anger in the laughable worm. Oh, to put her back in the ground where she belonged!
She smirked rather rudely when the worm asked if she should know who Koko was. 'Well, yes, but I'm sure you'll find out soon enough.' Between her recent detention-giving streak and her prowess on the Quidditch pitch, Koko anticipated this would not be the last time she saw this creature of the depths of the seventh circle of hell. Her gaze hardened further when the girl suggested she was like a child. 'At least I have self control and twice the dignity you do.'
How was the worm so nonchalant!? She had to be hurting.
Koko watched, eyebrows now raised in mild curiosity, as the worm raced to catch the bludger and — oh, oh no. Not again. Koko grabbed the shaft of her Oakshaft and leaned, but once again, she turned directly into the bludger's path. The bludger slammed into her stomach and upper left arm, knocking the wind out of her, and she leant forward, mouth open as she gasped for breath. How were little first years built like this!? She grabbed numbly at her broom with her right hand, refusing to put weight on her left for now. She'd never had a bludger hit her arm that she could remember, and the impact being focused on such a small space was something she hadn't realised would hurt so strongly.
She hadn't felt weak like this in years. The stark realisation that the grubby little worm had done this to her forced her to try again, to speed towards the bludger with reckless abandon. Sweat beaded above her brow, and the sheer effort it took her lungs to expand and contract with air made her right hand shake as it gripped the broom. It was like she was a third year again, weak and useless.
She gritted her teeth and reached for the bludger.
Her left hand grabbed it, and her snarl shifted into a cold, sharp grin reminiscent of a predatory animal. Finally, finally, she could just grab the damn thing and keep it for herself, she would be safe —
'Fuck!'
Iron scraped against calloused fingertips and sharp fingernails as it was whisked away by hands clad in fingerless gloves. Koko sat on her broom, dumbfounded, before her hand once again tightened in its grip on her broom. She stared at her left hand. The pads of her fingers had small scratches on them, marring the skin she worked so hard to keep flawless. She narrowed her eyes and turned her hand over to examine the back of her hand, and she let out a small yelp when she saw the state of her fingernails. The wine red polish that was supposed to be pristinely covering them was chipped.
She spun her broom around and glared at the child, who now had control of the bludger. Still unable to let go of her pride, Koko once again attempted to rest primly on her broom, although she certainly looked worse than she had earlier. 'Well? Do you expect a "congratulations"? Because you're not going to get one from me.'
Was she conceding defeat? Of course not. She wasn't a loser. But she knew she was tired, and one more hit might very well cause her to fall — and she couldn't, no, wouldn't have that. Her gaze was more focused on the bludger in the worm's hands than the worm itself, but she didn't know if she would be able to evade it should the worm shoot it at her.
She began to direct her broom closer to the worm, finally choosing to meet the child's blue eyes. She looked so innocent, it just wasn't fair. People like that weren't supposed to look sweet. Finally slowing to a stop, Koko forced a cold smile to her lips. This close, a hit with the bat wouldn't do as much damage — the bludger wouldn't have time to accelerate. 'I think I really ought to be leaving. I've got important things to do.' Getting beaten up by a child was not one of them. 'I do hope I'll see you around.' To get revenge, of course.
One did not humiliate Koko and tell the tale afterwards. There would be vengeance.· · ─────── · 𖢨 · ─────── · ·

Beater Than You
Oonagh shrugged at being called a fool, she had been called worse and it did not really matter what the other girl thought about her, as long as she was aware of the fact that she was awesome. The amount of people who thought hurling around insults were enough to bother her, should think again. If anything throwing around insults and punches with friends was her love language.
When all the other girl did was reply, 'Well, yes, but I'm sure you'll find out soon enough.' Oogie would have loved to just roll her eyes. There were so many people at this school who deemed themselves oh so important, that she would lose track if she even tried to keep up with the list. Not that she cared enough to even get started on a list. "Respect is not something handed out for free, ye know, it ought to be earned," Oogie called back, still defiant in the face of the other girl's unrelenting anger. Oogie honestly had little clue as to why that girl had gotten so riled up so quickly, but her issues did not truly concern the young lioness.
Oonagh grimaced when she hit another time, actually pausing to notice that the other person did not look much better than Oonagh felt, though Oonagh did a better job at not looking the part. Growing up on a farm and wrangling with the sheep and highland cows had taught her to be quite resilient. She had fallen from too many trees to count to be properly bothered by the odd bludger sent her way. She was practically a little monkey. So seeing the state they were both in Oogie would have been very fine to just leave it as it was, they had both proven they could hit the other and it was better than any practice Oogie thought about for the day, but the other girl then went for the bludger once more and Oogie simply could not allow that.
Oogie shot forward on her Firebolt and wrangled for the bludger, this time being the one victorious as she snatched it from the other student's grasp. Their back and forth would end now because Oonagh knew she wouldn't be able to handle another one of those hits and would much rather not pass out in front of the other girl, because Oogie had doubts that the other student cared enough to catch her before she made acquaintance with the ground. And likewise she did not really feel like having to dive after the other and rescue her either. If they had been closer to the ground or having a fist fight she would have less inhibition to bring this to an actual end, especially if said fist fight had been closer to more populated areas of the school so someone else could have patched up the other girl after. Oogie still did not fully understand how the magical patching up worked and frankly did not particularly like the sensation of being treated with magic, let alone the nasty potions...
The other girl actually still approached Oogie and her grip on the bludger automatically tightened as she narrowed her eyes slightly at the approaching blonde. Oonagh was however confused at the goodbye she received. Why was the other girl acting so pleasant now? "Well I tend to be around?" she responded with a tilt of the head. Regardless of their dispute, Oonagh actually had enjoyed their time on the Quidditch pitch but had been quite sure that the other did not. Puzzled she was left behind before she, for good measure, took the bludger once more and whacked it into one of the goal posts, resuming with a less fun variant of Quidditch practice.
