♡♡♡♡♡♡Quinn sat down on the frosty courtyard benches and uncliped her satchel. Inside was a book titled Broom Racing Made Easy. Lately she had been wondering if Quidditch had been the right choice. I really do enjoy quidditch but it might be time to try out a new sport. She thought. Quinn had always been interested in flying and had always played quidditch but she hadn't known about broom racing. Broom racing just looked so fun! And she would get a chance to practice magic. If only she had someone she could talk to about it. Quinn sighed and took the book out. She opened it up and began trying to read it but her mind just couldn't stay focused. The rules were a little confusing by book. It would be better if someone showed her. Quinn shut the book and put it back in her satchel. Closing it with a satisfying snap she stood up. Maybe a walk would help her think. She really did love quidditch but she might love broom racing too! After all she didn't know, she had never tried it before. In broom racing your team works together to get across the finish line but in quidditch your team works together to score points.There both so different, how can I choose? Quinn thought. Sitting back down she looked around, noticing another person for the first time.

Broom Questions
Linda still couldn't believe that she became broom racing captain. She enjoyed the flying and being part of the team. These thoughts were following her today as she decided to take a walk. It was good to be outside the castle and just take a moment to be with herself. This year she changed a lot, but she was looking forward to more changes.
She was wearing a sweatshirt and leggings with white boots. The weather felt good, and soon she found herself at the courtyard. She didn't intend on talking to anyone, but something caught her eye. Someone with a book about broom racing. She stopped and decided to approach the girl. Hi, are you interested in the broom racing? I think I saw you having a book about it.
She couldn't ignore it. Someone who possibly was interested in it so much as to have a book? It certainly was intriguing enough for her to quickly abandon all the thoughts and sit near the other girl. I'm Linda; what's your name? Do you need help? I'm broom racing captain, so I could possibly help if you have any questions. She spoke with a warm and enthusiastic voice.
It didn't matter how much she changed. There still were some little things that stayed the same. She still cared. Still was ready to offer her help.

♡♡♡♡♡♡Quinn looked up as the other person approched.
"Oh, hi. Um yeah I was reading a book about it. I currently am in quidditch but I am thinking about switching." Quinn responded. The other girl sat down next to her. She was pretty and had a cute outfit on. The leggings worked well with the sweatshirt and the boots in Quinn's opinion. This girl seems really nice. I wonder how old she is? She must be older then me to be a broom captain. Quinn thought. The girl-Linda- had introduced herself so Quinn thought she should too.
"Hi Linda, I'm Quinn. It's nice to meet you. It's really cool that your a broom racing captain." Quinn bit her lip.
"I acually do have a few questions. You see I am in the quidditch team right now but I am thinking about signing up broom racing. I was wondering if there was like a point system in broom racing. I don't really understand that aspect. Also what spells are legal and which are not. The whole spell thing is new to me." Quinn smiled shyly at Linda hoping that she didn't overwhelm her.
"Sorry if that is too many questions." Quinn added then smiled. She wanted to make sure that she looked friendly.

Broom Questions
Linda listened to Quinn and felt intrigued. Why would the girl want to switch? But on the other side, lately playing racing was more hurting than it was enjoying. And perhaps trying herself in a new sport could give a better idea about what she liked more?
Realizing that she spent quite some time with thinking about her racing, Linda looked back at Quinn and spoke softly. There are points. At the end of the game they look where each player stayed. Depending on how far they are from finish, they get different amount of points. Here, the first one who crossed the finishing line is the one who brings their team a win. She paused.
Spells? That would be a bit harder to explain. Linda thought for a second how better to put her thoughts into words. Spells are divided by their purpose: attack, support, environment. You can use some to try to stop your opponent. Illegal are usually those like full biding body spell. You will have a huge advantage if it's successful casting and not noticed. I don't think there are too much of those that are illegal to use. But usually not all of them are used. You'll find that legal spells are quite enough to help you during the racing.
Linda sighed. Those were more than enough to bring your health closer to zero. As if obstacles were not enough. I don't know how to better explain about spells now, but I could write an owl later with writing illegal spells and their effects if you want. Do you want to know anything else?

♡♡♡♡♡♡Quinn nodded as Linda answered her questions. Quinn didn't realize that you could get points from just getting near the finish line. She knew that the finish line was the win for the team but hadn't realized there were points.
"Really? That would be great! As long as it isn't much of a hassle to you." Quinn responded suprised at the offer to show her the spells and their legalities. Quinn though for a second before she realized she did have one more question about broom racing.
"Are there subs? Like in quidditch if one person goes down then someone else is the second string." Quinn asked, explaing her question. Quinn hoped that Linda didn't think she was stupid. The book had given her the gist but it wasn't completly clear. Linda had been really helpful though. She still wasn't sure if she wanted to switch or keep playing quidditch. Quidditch had some good things and some bad things. She had been playing quidditch her whole life basically and she loved it very much. But maybe it was a time to change. Maybe it was a time for something new. Broom racing seemed like a fun sport. Quinn didn't know if she would be able to let go of quidditch though. Even though you got hurt sometimes it was the most amazing sport. And Quinn was pretty sure that you got hurt in broom racing too.

Broom Questions
It's all fine. It won't be hard to do. Linda replied with a smile. Why not spending this time with talking to someone rather than staying alone? And why not making a list of spells? There's way too much of them to keep trying to explain it. For a second she thought that every spell they learned was used in broom racing. Although there certainly were more popular ones and more rarely used ones.
There are no subs. If you are knocked off your broom, you return to it. If your health is reduced to zero, no one is replacing you in the game. She replied. However, it could be fun if there could be subs. Probably. Linda wasn't sure it made any sense.
Subs in broom racing could never get a chance to participate. It was not popular for someone to get to zero with their health. Even with all the injuries. Linda knew well how it felt. But even she never got to zero. Though all those injuries sometimes were more hurting her feelings of justice than actual pain of wounds.
Do you have anything else you'd like to know? She asked. Curiosity filling her voice as she spoke. She didn't mind answering questions. Neither she thought that they were stupid. It was natural to ask those if one didn't know anything about the sport.

♡♡♡♡♡♡Quinn could barely keep track as Linda started to spew information about broom racing. Ok-no subs-wait thats really weird-keep focus Quinn- wait you can get back on your broom after you fall?! Health readuced to zero! Thats sounds terrifying! Quinn thought. Quinn hoped she didn't look to scared as she took in all the information she had just recived.
"um... I think thats it. I can probably find out anything else." Quinn said in a slightly terrified voice. She knew Linda probably thought she was a werido for asking so many questions and looking so scared. People got knocked off there brooms all the time in quidditch-and from a tall height. Broom racing just seemed so... new. And new was a little scary. To tell the truth Quinn loved quidditch so much that the change to broom racing might have been what scared her.
"Well acually I might have one quesiton... how long do matches usually last?" Quinn asked. She hadn't ever really been to a game and wanted to know how similar it was to quidditch. She knew there probably wasn't a certain amount of time but the general amount would still be good to know. Quinn smiled a little nervously at Linda. She was being so nice throughout all of her questions.

Linda noticed the terrified look and wondered what exactly from her words terrified the girl. It was very close to quidditch in terms of risks with broom. As far as she knew, there was an attack from chasers that could be pretty bad. She enjoyed in broom racing the fact that they could return to the broom. It would be too sad to not be able to do it. Though maybe it could be fun having someone else step in for the fallen racer.
It's quite similar to the quidditch I think. At least I don't find it more dangerous. Guess you could think about it more like opportunity to use spells and potions while on broom, passing through obstacles.

♡♡♡♡♡♡Quinn was glad that Linda was being so nice, it was helpful to have a... well helpful older student. Quinn listened with rapt attention while Linda explained the length of the game to her. Quinn liked that Linda was listing and genuinely helping her out. A couple people Quinn knew wouldn't be so keen on helping a younger student-even if it is only one year.
"Well... how long have you been broom racing. It seems like it would take a long time to master." Quinn knew from experience that Quidditch took a while to get good at-and lots of practice. Broom racing seemed... different in a way that might be good for Quinn. She had been at Quidditch for so long that everything came almost like a second nature. Broom racing would be new and different and she would be learning different ways to fly a broom. While there was mostly nothing wrong with Quidditch and she loved it with all of her heart and soul she was getting older and wanted to try multiple different sports at school. What was the point of going to a fancy magic school if your not going to learn about new things and try them too!
